Chapter 157: I Want to Learn Chibaku Tensei
Chapter 157: I Want to Learn Chibaku Tensei
Kuro’s blade slashed downward, unleashing a howling wind. This gale whipped up residual moisture in the air, and from the arc of Autumn Water, several Azure Dragons (Jiaolong) erupted forth—screaming as they surged toward the charging Kaido.
The Azure Dragons slammed into Kaido’s body. Their winds carried razor-sharp force, slicing open his skin while the piercing gusts burrowed into his wounds.
Then, like bursting popcorn, Kaido’s entire body erupted with explosion sounds. Blood streaks tore across his flesh as crimson erupted outward.
Yet he paid it no heed. His charging force didn’t waver in the slightest. As Kuro completed his technique, Kaido’s colossal form smashed forward and threw a punch downward.
Kuro reacted swiftly, raising Autumn Water horizontally to block Kaido’s fist. But the impact was too overwhelming—he couldn’t resist. The punch, combined with the blade, smashed him downward in a single devastating strike.
Boom!!!
Kuro’s body rocketed like a cannonball toward the ground, cratering the earth into a deep pit. The shockwave reverberated through his body, bouncing him briefly off the ground.
Even with his entire frame brimming with Armament Haki, the sheer force forced him to spit out a wisp of blood.
“Roar!!!”
Kaido, still airborne, roared again after punching. His body transformed into an Azure Dragon, maw wide as it unleashed a Heat Breath. The dragon charged straight at Kuro.
“Mystic Art·Vermilion Bird!”
Kuro, just rising, glared at the rapidly approaching energy sphere and the dragon closing in behind. Gritting his teeth, he unleashed another wisp of Mystic Art.
The blade’s howling winds enveloped him, condensing into a physical Phoenix shape. The energy sphere struck it head-on, detonating in a fiery explosion that tore a hole in the Phoenix. But the winds swiftly reknit the damage.
“A slash-formed body?”
Kaido’s dragon pupils narrowed. Fearless, he barreled forward.
The Vermilion Bird shrieked, flapping its wings as it entangled with Kaido.
Trapped in this struggle, every strike Kaido landed on the Phoenix tore fresh gashes across his own body. He roared, sinking his jaws into the bird’s form—only to add more wounds to his own mouth.
Yet the wind-and-slash-formed Vermilion Bird suffered too. Each bite, claw strike, or tail swing from the dragon chipped away at its shape, forcing the winds to constantly repair it.
In the sky, Azure Dragon and Vermilion Bird clashed violently, their roars and cries echoing.
Their massive forms exchanged blow after blow.
“This is so annoying!!!”
Seeing the slash-formed Vermilion Bird refusing to shatter, Kaido opened his maw. Undeterred by the countless slashes tearing his body, he gathered energy within his mouth.
“Heat Breath!”
Boom! Boom! Boom!
At such close range, the energy blasts tore into the Vermilion Bird. Though the bird could regenerate, its repair speed couldn’t match Kaido’s relentless assault. Its form began collapsing, huge sections blown away.
Kaido’s dragon pupils sharpened. Seizing this opening, his claws shot forward, carving tiny wounds as they slashed through the bird’s body. In that instant, the Vermilion Bird vanished.
At the claw tips—a blade blocked them mid-strike. Kuro’s face was grim as he stood before Kaido’s claws.
Crack!!!
The dragon’s tail lashed sideways, slamming into Kuro’s body and driving him into the ground with bone-shaking force.
Kuro knelt on one knee, wiping blood from his lips. A dull ache throbbed in his ribs. He spat a curse, glaring upward at the floating Azure Dragon.
The wounds on Kaido’s body were already emitting wisps of white smoke, healing at an alarming rate.
No wonder Moonlight Moria had shattered mentally after his defeat.
If Kuro didn’t keep his head together, he’d break too.
This opponent was simply untouchable.
The airborne Azure Dragon solidified into human form. Kaido glanced downward, his legs bursting with air pressure as he dive-bombed toward Kuro.
“Black Tortoise!”
Kuro panicked, unleashing another Mystic Art. A howling wind coalesced into a turtle-and-serpent shield, its serpent eyes locked on Kaido. But it was useless—Kaido swiped mid-air, shattering the serpent’s illusion first, then rammed his fist forward.
Boom!!!
The Black Tortoise shield splintered like glass, shards flying in all directions.
Kuro hadn’t even begun to react when Kaido’s massive hand tore through the broken shield, seizing Kuro’s head. Gripping him tightly, Kaido drove his face into the ground.
Crash!!!
The earth split open with a thunderous roar, the fissure plunging deep into the island’s foundations. Kaido, clutching Kuro’s upper body, broke through the surface, bursting into the sky below the island and continuing his downward spiral!
At this altitude, if Kuro was truly slammed into the Grand Line below or the surface itself, it would be his end.
Blood dripped from his head, his vision swimming from the impact. Through the haze, he locked eyes with Kaido, gripping Autumn Water tightly as he swung the blade downward, a golden lightning aura crackling along its length.
He wielded Armament Haki at its most advanced level—a skill he’d used to cleave an entire island in two when facing Shanks.
Clang!
Autumn Water struck Kaido’s wrists. But those wrists were sheathed in Haki, halting the blade’s progress.
Kuro had expected this. That was his intention—when Kaido defended against his slash, he’d have a brief moment of weakness.
Boom!!!
A massive island-shaped lion head smashed into Kaido’s body, sending him flying backward.
Kuro tore free from Kaido’s grip, not even pausing to catch his breath. With a single hand, he manipulated the islands around him, launching them in a relentless assault.
Boom! Boom!
Two islands hurtled to either side of Kaido, crashing into him simultaneously.
Then came ships, blades, Black Gun—every random object he could muster—hurling toward Kaido. The vast continent Kuro had painstakingly assembled shattered into massive chunks, each slamming into Kaido’s form.
Gradually, Kaido’s body vanished beneath the bombardment. As the islands piled higher, his form disappeared completely.
Kuro had saved all his strength for this moment, unleashing everything at once.
As the final island struck, the sky’s former Skypiea-like shape dissolved. In its place loomed a colossally compressed lion head, suspended between heaven and earth.
Kuro clenched his five fingers into a fist, tightening the lion head’s grip. The structure solidified further—suddenly, silence fell within.
But he knew this silence wouldn’t last.
Thud!
Deep within the massive lion head, sound stirred again.
Kuro raised Autumn Water horizontally, his two fingers gliding across the blade as golden light flared once more.
Four mythical beasts’ ethereal forms materialized around him, their gazes fixed on the trembling, colossal spherical mass.
“Shinmeiryu Style!”
