What's going on here?
Lu HaiKong had once fought tooth and nail for a Silver Chest, but to no avail. In the end, he only managed to get two Bronze Chests, leaving him frustrated for quite some time.
Today, to his surprise, a casual swing of his axe caused a Silver Chest to drop. At that moment, Lu HaiKong suddenly realized that having his strength stat stuck at 69 might not be such a bad thing after all.
If Lu HaiKong's strength had already reached 70 or higher, he would likely have only obtained a Bronze Chest this time. Although getting a Bronze Chest with a simple swing of his axe seemed decent, who would prefer Bronze when they could have Silver?
"We can leave now."
Lu HaiKong wasn't in a hurry to open the chests. Since only he could see the chests, he decided to temporarily leave them here and wait until after conquering a large mountain camp to open them together.
After leaving the bandits' dormitory, Lu HaiKong and his group arrived at the next gathering point. After waiting for about ten minutes, a fire broke out at the back of the camp, where the bandits' dining hall was located. The once quiet and dormant camp suddenly erupted into chaos.
The bandits woke up from their sleep, startled, and were directed to head towards the dining hall to put out the fire.
At almost the same time the fire started, Zhao Gang and his disguised team reached the assembly hall of the camp.
"Aren't you guys resting? What are you doing here?"
As soon as Zhao Gang and his team arrived, a group of Iron Guard Elites, the same group that Zhao Gang had eliminated in their sleep, approached them. The leader of the group asked suspiciously.
This group of Iron Guard Elites was clearly an elite force. Despite Zhao Gang's team wearing the same uniforms, the Elites remained vigilant when Zhao Gang's team suddenly appeared.
"Assassins have infiltrated the camp. We're here to protect the camp leader!" Zhao Gang replied calmly.
"Oh, I see. You've worked hard. You can just stand guard here." The leader of the opposing group seemed to relax, sheathing his weapon and slowly backing away.
However, Zhao Gang's expression suddenly changed. He was certain he had been exposed, though he couldn't pinpoint how. But he knew for sure that he had been found out.
"Attack! Kill them!"
At Zhao Gang's command, the Flame Battalion warriors charged forward.
Indeed, the sudden attack from Zhao Gang's team didn't catch their opponents off guard. They quickly adjusted and engaged in combat, all while calling for reinforcements.
"What's happening? This group of bandits is acting strangely."
Using his reconnaissance skill, Lu HaiKong could see that the Iron Guard Elites had a strength of only around 30. Their leader was slightly more powerful, with a strength in the sixties, and they only had about twenty men.
Logically, the Flame Battalion should have had the advantage in both individual strength and numbers. However, to Lu HaiKong's surprise, the bandits were putting up a good fight against Zhao Gang's team.
Lu HaiKong noticed a strong sense of cohesion among the bandits. The twenty or so men fought as one, whereas Zhao Gang's side, despite having fifty men, seemed like individual wolves. Although each warrior was strong, they couldn't unite as a force.
In this situation, Zhao Gang's team managed to suppress their opponents but couldn't quickly defeat them.
"It seems that Zhao Gang and his men made the right decision. With just twenty of them, they managed to withstand our assault. If there were a hundred of them, along with that unfortunate soul with a strength above 70, our Flame Battalion might have suffered heavy losses by now."
Lu HaiKong sighed, gripping his Ghost Mask Axe as he stepped onto the battlefield.
Although the Flame Battalion had already caused chaos within the stronghold earlier, it was unlikely for the bandits to gather in large numbers in a short time. Still, Lu HaiKong and his men had ventured into dangerous territory, and it was best to end this quickly.
As soon as Lu HaiKong joined the fray, the situation changed. With each swing of his axe, a member of the Iron Guard Elite met their end.
Under Lu HaiKong's sheer brutality, no matter how the Iron Guard Elites tried to gather their strength, it was futile. Any number of them facing Lu HaiKong's attacks were in vain. With each extreme swing of his axe, everything was reduced to nothingness.
"Damn it! We must stop him, or we won't last until the Chief Warlord arrives!"
One of the Iron Guard Elites, their leader, tightened his grip on his steel blade and charged towards Lu HaiKong.
He knew Lu HaiKong's strength was formidable, perhaps even rivaling their Chief Warlord. He was certain he stood no chance against him, but if he could just hold him off for a few moves, he might succeed.
In a 1 vs 1 battle, there was no room for error!
"I'll hold him off! Retreat to the Assembly Hall!" With a determination to die if necessary, he faced Lu HaiKong while ordering his subordinates to fall back. They were the elite of the stronghold, and he wanted to protect them if possible.
"Block me?" Lu HaiKong scoffed. "Let's see you try."
With that, Lu HaiKong swung his axe towards the man, executing a simple yet devastating Mountain Splitting Axe Technique. Lu HaiKong didn't even need to channel his inner power; his physical strength alone was enough.
The Mountain Splitting Axe Technique emphasized power and aura over speed. While it wasn't considered fast for Lu HaiKong, the same move was incredibly slow for his opponent, who had a strength of merely sixty. Facing Lu HaiKong's axe, he could only muster the strongest force he could gather.
"Just one move! I'll give it my all to withstand just one attack. Could I possibly fail to block even a single move?"
The man roared in anger, his neck veins popping out as he concentrated all his strength in his hands. His inner power surged uncontrollably, and he swore that the power he held at that moment was the strongest he'd ever mustered in his life.
"I can do it! I can block any attack! Come on, bring it on... no matter what!"
"Pfft!"
Before his passionate roar could finish, Lu HaiKong's axe descended. The man's long blade shattered instantly, and before he could even lament the fragility of his once-proud strength, Lu HaiKong's massive axe had split him in two.
"Who dares to cause trouble in our Iron Stronghold!"
Just as this Iron Guard Elite met his end at the hands of Lu HaiKong's axe, the doors of the Assembly Hall swung open. Three burly figures charged out...
