Chapter 155: Uh-Oh, I Became Dormammu
Chapter 155: Uh-Oh, I Became Dormammu
The banquet hall was alive with music and dance, the air filled with the aroma of fine wine and roasted meat. The warriors and guests of Asgard enjoyed their meal with ease and pleasure, everything seemed perfectly normal.
Three days passed quickly, and nothing out of the ordinary happened, leading Luk to wonder if the time loop he experienced yesterday was just a dream.
However, the severed connection with his clone was a undeniable fact. Afterward, Luk had gone to the edge of Asgard, but the barrier prevented him from leaving.
Asgard seemed small in the movies, but in reality, it was vast and expansive. The barrier surrounding Asgard wasn't particularly strong, only enough to keep out common soldiers. Luk felt he could easily break through it.
But this was Odin's domain, and he wasn't about to tear down someone else's barrier over a minor, unverified issue. He would be leaving soon anyway, and two days without contact with his clone shouldn't be a problem.
Thinking about this, Luk frowned.
He hadn't expected this to be so smooth, but the moment he thought that, he felt like he was tempting fate.
When you think nothing will go wrong, it usually means something big is about to happen!
Out of caution, he leaned over to Doctor Strange and asked tentatively, "Doctor Strange, did you notice anything unusual yesterday morning?"
Doctor Strange's cheerful face froze, and he lowered his voice, "You noticed too?"
There was definitely something wrong!
Luk's heart sank. Before he could ask more, Doctor Strange sighed.
"Yesterday morning, I found a new wrinkle on my face. Time is truly merciless; I feel like my days are numbered."
Luk was speechless.
"Master Luk, you should hurry up. Dormammu has been waiting for you for three months. It's not polite to keep him waiting."
Luk was speechless again. Even though Doctor Strange called Dormammu "Dormy," he was still a dimensionless dark entity, and in his human form, he was male!
"Doctor Strange, not every name with a 'sama' suffix can be made cute."
"The name isn't the point; the waiting is. How long has Dormammu been waiting for you, and you're still so weak!"
Doctor Strange sighed, his frustration evident, and quoted a classic teacher's line, "Truly, each generation is worse than the last."
Do you really expect me to become strong enough to beat a dimensionless dark entity in three months? That's not how leveling up works!
Luk checked the time on his phone; it was 11 PM on Earth, and a new day was about to begin.
"Cheers to Thor!"
Volshtag, one of the Warriors Three, raised his glass, his lion-like mane of hair shaking as his rough, hearty voice echoed through the banquet hall.
"Let this glass be the final toast of the victory feast!"
Thor stood up, waving to the crowd around him, and raised Mjolnir high, celebrating his glory. Loki stood quietly beside him, a gentle smile on his face.
After the toast, everyone threw their glasses to the ground, the sound of shattering glass signaling the end of the feast.
The crowd gradually dispersed, thinning out.
Skadi leaned against Luk, reluctant to leave. Over the past three days, she had experienced the ultimate joy, making her feel that her previous life had been dull and meaningless.
"Why don't you stay in Asgard? Under the witness of Odin, we can become partners."
It turned out that the fastest way to a woman's heart was through physical means. When a man excelled in every aspect and kept taking shortcuts, it was easy for a woman to think they were in a relationship.
"Sorry, Skadi, I am the next Supreme Sorcerer of Midgard and can't stay in Asgard permanently. But I promise, if I come to Asgard, I will find you, okay?"
Luk stroked Skadi's head apologetically and kissed her cheek.
"Okay!"
Skadi was a bit sad but soon left with a renewed spirit. Asgardian women weren't overly sentimental unless they were true romantics who hadn't yet confessed.
Like Sif.
The beautiful and fierce warrior was drinking alone, her eyes fixed on Thor and Loki, her mood clearly sour.
Luk thought for a moment and approached her, "You really like Thor, don't you?"
Sif glanced at Luk. She wasn't stupid; in two days, she had figured out that Luk had been deliberately avoiding her.
"Long ago, the most powerful, famous, and admired force in Asgard was the Valkyrie Corps. They were an undefeated army, invincible across the Nine Realms."
Sif slowly recounted the history she knew, "But thousands of years ago, the Valkyrie Corps were destroyed in a battle. After that, people generally believed that female warriors were just decorations, lacking the strength to achieve greatness."
"I have always been competitive and trained hard. My strength has never been inferior to that of my male peers, but in the army, no matter where I went, what mission I was on, or what battle I fought, I was always the one left behind."
"Thor is different. He doesn't underestimate me because I'm a woman. He believes in my strength and let me join the Warriors Three, fighting alongside him."
Humans need validation. When others constantly deny you, and someone affirms you, it's incredibly moving. Over time, after sharing life and death together, it's hard not to develop feelings.
Luk clapped awkwardly, "Alright, you're a true romantic. Just out of curiosity, how long have you known each other?"
"About a thousand years."
Luk: "..."
A thousand years and still nothing, while Jane managed to win Thor's heart in three days. You really are a bit of a failure.
"Are you heading back now?"
Sor brought Loki over and nodded solemnly at Luk. "Luk, when you come back to Asgard next time, let's have another match. I will definitely win this time."
"That might be a bit difficult."
Luk smiled. "I think it's better if you don't win me."
Asgardians seem to get stronger with age. Currently, Sor is still young, and while his strength is not outstanding, it is sufficient. Without sacrificing a few family members to unlock his full potential, it's hard to say if he could win next time.
"Magician Luk."
Loki looked up at Luk, a slight smile on his lips. "Next time, you must succeed."
"What?"
Before Luk could understand what Loki meant, a beam of light illuminated the area.
The All-Father Odin appeared, bathed in divine light, to see the two guests off.
Gu Yi stood up, maintaining a perfect smile with her magic, her wise eyes shimmering with endless light.
"King Odin, thank you for your invitation this time. Supreme Magician and I had a wonderful time."
"Not at all, Supreme Magician and Magician Luk added a lot to Thor's victory feast."
Odin nodded in response, then looked at Luk.
"Magician Luk, I promised you could choose a gift from my treasure vault. It's time for that now."
Luk's spirits lifted, and he bowed politely to Odin. "Your Majesty, your generosity is truly admirable!"
Gu Yi also perked up. "King, the artifacts in your vault are all powerful relics. Magician Luk is still young and not capable of using such things."
"Perhaps I could store them for him until he is strong enough to use them."
Slap!
Luk, unable to tolerate the old rogue any longer, kicked him away.
...
The items in Odin's treasure vault were few, but each one was a masterpiece, even the least impressive being a powerful artifact.
Walking down the corridor, Luk's heart raced as he looked at the treasures on either side.
The most eye-catching was the Infinity Gauntlet, visible as soon as you entered. The massive gauntlet was adorned with six gems of different colors, its golden exterior particularly striking.
Though it was a fake according to Hela, that referred only to the Infinity Stones on the gauntlet. The gauntlet itself was a high-quality artifact capable of channeling the stones' power, enhancing control over their energy, and reducing the damage they could cause.
However, it wasn't much use to Luk at this stage, as he didn't have any stones.
The second item was an elegant deep-blue box, which Luk paused in front of for a while.
He was trying to use Ditto's ability to replicate this artifact.
Since gaining his golden thumb, Luk had barely used this ability. The objects worth replicating were either not worth the effort or too powerful for him to handle.
As for replicating inanimate objects, Luk had tried to replicate the Eye of Agamotto, but unsurprisingly failed. It was either because the gem exceeded the replication range or for some other reason; there wasn't even a symbolic progress bar.
During his fight with Sor, he had also tried to analyze Mjolnir, but the progress bar was abnormally slow, likely due to Mjolnir's self-awareness or some magic Odin had placed on it. He had to give up.
"This is the Frost Giants' Ice Box, their greatest treasure. Its immense power can freeze the Earth in a short time. If you choose it, don't use it lightly, and I must have your word that you won't let the Frost Giants get it."
Odin explained briefly and gave a warning.
"No need."
Luk's lips couldn't help but curl up. Compared to the previous failures, the Ice Box, though it took more time, was successfully replicated.
He turned his attention to the next artifact, a strangely shaped stone tablet.
An absurdly long progress bar appeared before Luk, one that would take eons to complete.
"What is this?"
Luk looked at the stone tablet in shock, the first time he had seen such an extreme progress bar.
"This is the Stone of Life. It is said to contain the secrets of life's evolution. If you can unravel its mysteries, you will gain boundless wisdom and power."
Odin's voice came, with a hint of amusement. "But I have never heard of any life form succeeding."
Deciding to abandon the analysis of the stone tablet, Luk looked at other artifacts. The next two were the Orb of Agamotto and the Eye of the Sorcerer, both very suitable for Luk. However, the former couldn't be replicated like the Eye of Agamotto, and the latter had a rather long progress bar.
Luk glanced at Odin, who didn't seem in a hurry. He decided to try.
"Your Majesty, I would like to examine the Eye of the Sorcerer in detail. Would that be possible?"
"Of course, take as long as you need."
Odin answered generously.
But the next moment, a familiar voice echoed in Luk's mind.
"But time is up."
Snap!
A bright light appeared before Luk, seemingly from nowhere.
...
Luk silently looked at the armored Sif, whose pretty face was a bit red. She spoke in a low voice.
"I need your help with something."
Luk: (ー`ー)
Once might be a coincidence, but twice is definitely someone playing tricks.
Did I become Dormammu?
Who was negotiating then?
Suddenly, it hit him. Wasn't it time for school to start today?
