Chapter 155: Obito's Regret
Chapter 155: Obito's Regret
"The final exams will be held next week, so make sure you review the material over the weekend." On Friday's last class, Mu Yue reminded her students after finishing her lecture.
There would be no classes the following week, with exams taking place from Monday to Wednesday, followed by a break.
"Another holiday is coming up."
"What should we do during the break? Go hiking? Have a picnic?"
"I hope I do well enough to have a relaxing break... Something like 90 points in theory and 30 in practical would be great."
With the mention of the upcoming finals, the students in the classroom began to discuss their plans.
"Teacher Mu Yue, will there be special training during the break? Has that been decided yet?" Gang Zitie asked.
He wasn't worried about not making it into the top eight, as he had the advantage of having attended a special training session before, and he hadn't slacked off in his cultivation.
"It's been decided that there will be special training at the end of this semester as well," Mu Yue replied. "It will start on the third day after the exam results are out, and the selected students will be notified in advance by the school."
The intern program wouldn't interfere with the holiday training; both would proceed as planned.
"Will you be the one teaching us again, Teacher Mu Yue?" Kamizuki Izumo asked, his voice laced with concern.
If Mu Yue wasn't the instructor, he would have to lower his expectations. After all, if another teacher took over, they might not teach as effectively as Mu Yue.
"I won't be responsible for the holiday training this time," Mu Yue answered. "I have other matters to attend to."
"But don't worry; there will be three teachers conducting the training together. The school is still very much invested in your progress."
Considering that the other teachers might not be as capable as Mu Yue, Hiruzen Sarutobi decided to assign two additional instructors, both of whom were known for their outstanding performance.
"Oh, so it'll be a while before we see you again, Teacher Mu Yue," Anko Mitarashi said, sounding disappointed.
"I'll drop by to observe the training when I have the time," Mu Yue assured her with a smile.

After class, Mu Yue informed her disciples about the internship.
"During this break, Obito and Guy will not be participating in the special training," she began. "Instead, you two will be experiencing the work of a ninja firsthand as intern ninjas."
"Intern ninjas?"
"Experience the work of a ninja firsthand?"
Obito and Might Guy had very different focuses.
"Teacher Mu Yue, will we be taking on client missions as part of experiencing the work of a ninja?" Guy asked eagerly.
"That's right," Mu Yue nodded.
"However, due to your status as intern ninjas, you will only be able to accept lower-level missions."
"Will we receive mission rewards just like official ninjas?" Guy asked, his excitement building.
If that were the case, Guy thought it would be fantastic. He could earn money through his efforts and start contributing to his family's finances sooner.
"You will receive mission rewards just like official ninjas," Mu Yue replied with a smile.
"Is it just the two of us? What about Lin and Shibi?" Obito inquired, his thoughts turning to his teammates.
"The intern ninja program is for fourth-grade students. Shibi is only in the first grade, so he can't participate," Mu Yue explained.
"As for the intern program, only a small number of fourth-grade students are selected. The rest will undergo regular training. Lin wasn't chosen."
"I see," Obito said, his face falling. "That's a shame."
Obito felt that being an intern ninja and getting a head start on understanding the work of a ninja was a great opportunity. Not only could he earn money, but he also believed it would help him become an outstanding ninja faster.
"Leave it to me. I'll definitely fill you in on all the details of the mission and how it goes," Obito promised, patting his chest.
"Then I'm counting on you, Obito," Lin replied with a gentle smile.
"The intern assignments are similar to those of official ninja teams. You'll be grouped into teams of three students, with one sensei guiding you. You and Guy will be in the same group," Mu Yue continued.
Hearing this, Obito felt even more disappointed. If only he could have been grouped with Lin; they could have tackled missions together every day, and she would surely come to appreciate his exceptional abilities.
"Teacher Mu Yue, if it's a group of three, who's the third person?" Obito asked curiously.
"You'll find out soon enough. It's someone you know," Mu Yue said with a mysterious smile.
"Someone I know? Is it Uchiha Tekka or Shiranui Genma?"
Mu Yue shook her head at each of Obito's guesses. He scratched his head, deciding not to press further since guessing from among those he knew was too broad.
"As long as it's not Kakashi," Obito thought to himself.
He felt that it was completely impossible for Kakashi to be the third person, as he had graduated years ago. Why would he come back to participate in an internship program for ninja students?
"Remember to review when you get back. There are still final exams before the internship," Mu Yue reminded them.
"Ah, I almost forgot about the exams! That damn Shadow Clone ignored me when I told him to study," Obito wailed.
While it was true that the pain of studying would transfer to the clone upon dispelling, the clone only experienced that pain momentarily, whereas Obito himself would have to endure the continuous pain of studying.
"Don't give up! You can do well in practical combat, but don't neglect your theoretical studies," Lin encouraged him softly.
...
The next morning, Mu Yue rose early and headed to the Southern Forest to instruct her students.
Obito practiced the breathing technique to master his nature transformation, Might Guy and Itachi engaged in combat training, and Lin honed her medical ninjutsu.
"Fire Style: Phoenix Flower Claw!"
Obito formed a single hand seal with his left hand while holding four kunai in his right. With just that single seal, he released the jutsu, causing the kunai to ignite and explode into small craters in the ground.
"I've finally gotten it down! Using ninjutsu with just a single-hand seal," Obito exclaimed happily.
"Leaf Hurricane!"
"Leaf Great Hurricane!"
"Leaf Strong Whirlwind!"
Might Guy, using the Rock Breathing Style to its fullest extent, unleashed a barrage of fierce attacks to disrupt Itachi's rhythm.
Under Guy's immense power, trees toppled one after the other, their crashing sounds echoing through the forest. However, Itachi maintained his composure, using the Body Flicker Technique to dodge and wait for an opening in Guy's relentless assault.
Watching the forest being reduced to a mess, Mu Yue thought to herself that she would have to find a more spacious place for them to train in the future, or else there wouldn't be any trees left.
Mu Yue used her Appraisal Technique to check on their progress. Itachi had reached ninety-seven, just three points shy of mastery, while Guy had attained eighty-two, still eighteen points away.
"Obito will probably win again this time," Mu Yue speculated.
Unless Obito goofed off, with Guy's current progress in the breathing technique, it would be difficult for him to beat Obito.
However, it didn't really matter who won between the two, as their theoretical grades were both rather mediocre, ensuring that they wouldn't achieve perfect scores.
