Chapter 1543: Bloodthirsty
Chapter 1543: Bloodthirsty
"It's fortunate that these guys are stupid enough, otherwise it would've been difficult to get rid of them."
Looking at the pile of "corpses" of Dark wizards lying in the corridor, Lee Jordan walked forward a few steps. He used his toes to flip over one of the Death Eaters, then suddenly lifted his foot and viciously kicked the man's cheeks several times to vent his anger. It was this bastard who had just used the Unforgivable Curse, causing the only casualty in this battle, taking away a poor soul who hadn't taken a Felix Felicis.
Fred, who was helping to finish off the Dark wizards, rolled his eyes at Lee Jordan and scoffed, "Acting like you're so smart. And there's really no need to take it out on a dead body."
"This guy isn't dead, he's just unconscious."
"If it were me, I definitely wouldn't charge to my death like that. I'd blast open the nearby wall and jump out of the window. With a wand, you won't die from the fall," George said, agreeing that these Dark wizards were indeed quite dumb.
"Less talk, more work," Cedric said as he waved his wand to collect the loot from the defeated Dark wizards, intending to use it to supplement their funds.
"Speaking of which, these Dark wizards are really poor," George said as he stuffed some items into a leather bag, looking at the pile of sickles. "Looks like we can't rely on the loot to make up for our losses."
"Dark wizards are usually a bunch of poor sods. Otherwise, who would be willing to fight to the death with Voldemort? Only a minority of Death Eaters have money. But even if those guys are rich, they probably won't carry a lot of galleons on them," Cedric replied.
"If Albert kills Voldemort, won't he get a hefty bounty?" Hannah asked with good intentions. "I remember something about..."
"...a hundred thousand galleons," they finished together.
"Don't even think about it. Expecting the Ministry of Magic to pay that bounty is like waiting for candy to fall from the sky," Fred said.
"I bet the Ministry of Magic will say that the bounty on Voldemort has been canceled," George added.
"No way!"
"Albert will definitely find a way to make the Ministry of Magic cough up the money."
"They didn't pay the bounty for capturing Sirius Black last time. Those so-called bounties are just bait the Ministry uses to get others to do their dirty work. They never intended to keep their promises," Fred argued.
"I remember Albert saying that if he got that money, he would use it for all of us," George said, looking up as Professor McGonagall approached them and raising his hand to greet her.
"It seems we've arrived just in time," Professor McGonagall acknowledged their greeting with a nod. "What are you all doing, Mr. Longbottom?" she asked, looking at Neville and his friends who were casting spells on the Dark wizards.
"Finishing them off so they don't get back up and harm others," Neville replied. Ever since he had used Mandrake to kill a group of werewolves on that viaduct, he had become less hesitant about killing enemies.
He knew what needed to be done and what shouldn't, and he understood that sometimes, someone had to do what was necessary.
If he didn't do it, someone else would.
And if no one was willing, Neville would take it upon himself. He hadn't forgotten that it was the Death Eaters who had tortured his parents into their current state.
Although he hadn't been able to find those specific Death Eaters to take his revenge, he could take it out on any Death Eater.
"This..." Professor McGonagall was surprised by the change in Neville, never expecting the once timid boy to become someone who could kill without blinking.
And it wasn't just Neville; the other students were the same.
They ended the lives of the fallen Dark wizards without an ounce of mercy, as if they were killing chickens, not humans.
"After all, they are our enemies, and it's better that they're dead. Albert always says that this is a war of survival, and showing mercy to them is being irresponsible to our comrades," Cedric explained gently, understanding the complex expression on Professor McGonagall's face. "Moreover, we didn't kill any innocent people. These Dark wizards deserved to die."
Professor McGonagall opened her mouth but ultimately decided against arguing with Cedric.
"How's Potter doing? Has he found Voldemort's Horcrux?" she asked, her mind more focused on whether Harry had found Voldemort's treasure hidden in Hogwarts and could thus end this damned war.
"Harry will definitely find it. Let's go reinforce the others," Cedric said, not too worried about this matter.
In his opinion, both Harry and Albert were reliable. Since Albert dared to say that he could end the Wizarding War tonight, he must have had a certain degree of confidence. Perhaps they had found the Horcrux long ago and were just waiting for Voldemort to take the bait.
So, instead of worrying about Harry finding the Horcrux, Cedric was more concerned about Cho Chang's safety.
Suddenly, a series of crackling sounds drew everyone's attention to the end of the corridor, where Nelson Tobin appeared.
"Did you get the Mandrake?" Fred asked, lowering his wand when he saw it was a familiar face.
"Just the one that was thrown onto the broken bridge. It'll take time to find more, so I came over first," Nelson explained.
"Didn't you take Felix Felicis?" George asked, exchanging a glance with his twin, their expressions strange.
"Why not just use Accio to summon the Mandrake?"
"House-elves helped me look for it."
It wasn't that Nelson didn't want to find more Mandrake; it was just that the Felix Felicis had told him that one should be enough.
So, he hadn't wanted to waste more time and had come straight over.
"You can go ambush them at the staircase first. We need to clear out the Death Eaters on the third floor, and then we'll meet near the staircase to avoid getting affected by the Mandrake ourselves," Cedric suggested.
Mandrake was indeed very useful, but it could also be deadly.
Especially after using it to kill hundreds of werewolves, anyone would be extremely cautious about it to avoid accidentally harming themselves.
"See you later," Nelson said, turning to leave.
He had come specifically to give them a heads-up, not to join their group. He wanted to remind them to be careful to avoid any friendly fire, especially since the Mandrake's cry could be deadly even from a distance. While it might not kill, it would cause a deep sleep for a long time, so any accidents had to be avoided, and the enemies had to be taken out as much as possible.
Of course, Fred and his group were also aware of this. Anyone who had taken Felix Felicis wasn't stupid, but no one wanted to risk being affected by the Mandrake's cry either.
So, everyone instinctively avoided Nelson's battlefield, and fortunately, the other group of Death Eaters they were dealing with wasn't in that area either.
