Chapter 154: You Live in Z City Too?
Chapter 154: You Live in Z City Too?
"What a pity, this monster can't be eaten. Looks like it's cabbage and tofu soup for dinner tonight."
Gazing at the Vaccine Man, whose body was now reduced to half its original size and lying on the ground, the bald man couldn't help but show a face of regret.
Occasionally, Saitama would encounter strange and bizarre monsters, and after defeating them, he would bring them home for an extra meal.
Like the previous Seaweed Monster, which provided Saitama with a month's worth of seaweed egg drop soup.
However, Saitama had his principles. He wouldn't even give a second glance to human-like monsters.
No matter how powerful he became, Saitama always treated himself as an ordinary person. Monsters with bizarre appearances he could handle as special "animals."
But when it came to human-like monsters, the idea of eating them was simply unacceptable to Saitama.
The Vaccine Man, a formidable Dragon-level threat, was swiftly defeated in an instant.
It was hard to imagine that this unassuming bald man was the ultimate boss of this anime if one hadn't witnessed Saitama's one-punch knockout of the Vaccine Man and known the identity of the Bald Tyrant.
The monster had been dealt with, and the people in the supermarket should now be safe.
Yecheng didn't want to attract attention, so instead of returning to the supermarket, he decided to head home directly, avoiding any potential recognition as the hero who defeated the Vaccine Man.
On the other side, Saitama, after defeating the Vaccine Man and confirming that he couldn't be added to his dinner menu, was also disappointed and prepared to return home.
It wasn't until they both arrived at a residential building in Z City that the two men, meeting by chance on the ground floor, wore expressions of utter bewilderment.
Yecheng knew Saitama lived in Z City, but he never imagined they lived in the same building.
When Saitama saw Yecheng, he was initially surprised, thinking he was being followed.
But upon realizing that Saitama had neither wealth nor beauty, and seeing Yecheng carrying several convenience bags, Saitama understood that Yecheng might also be a resident.
"My name is Yecheng, and I'm one of the residents here. Thank you for what you did earlier."
There was no way Yecheng could pretend not to see Saitama after they had just exchanged blows and defeated the enraged Vaccine Man.
"I'm Saitama, and I also live in this building. I always thought I was the only resident left in this building, but it seems there are other neighbors. Which floor do you live on? I don't recall seeing you before."
The bald man's emotional detachment was partly due to his immense strength and partly because his social circle was incredibly clean, almost non-existent.
Even before Genos appeared, the bald man lived alone, spending his days in a building with no other tenants. How rich could his emotional life be?
"I live on the third floor. I haven't been here long, and I rarely go out, so it's normal that we haven't crossed paths."
Z City, known for its frequent monster appearances, had very few residents daring to live there. This entire building might only have two residents: Yecheng and Saitama.
Saitama lived on the fifth floor, while Yecheng resided on the third. Additionally, Yecheng was a reclusive senior cultivator, so it was no surprise that they hadn't met until now.
"So that's how it is. You're one of those so-called 'Stay-at-Home Guys,' no wonder you bought so much stuff at the supermarket before."
As Baldy spoke, his gaze shifted to the convenience bags in Yecheng's hands.
Due to Vaccine Man's sudden attack, Yecheng's carefully selected items from the supermarket were left behind.
Feeling helpless, Yecheng went to the seafood market and bought some seafood, then stopped by a convenience store to purchase snacks and soda, planning to stay indoors for a few more days before venturing out again.
"It's almost mealtime, and I've bought some seafood. Why don't we go to my place and have a meal together?"
This was purely a polite gesture from Yecheng, as Baldy's eyes had been fixed on the bags in his hands since they met.
In such a situation, where both parties are not well acquainted, one would typically decline politely, right?
However, Yecheng clearly overestimated Baldy's integrity. When faced with Yecheng's polite invitation, Baldy glanced at the seafood in Yecheng's hands, then at the cabbage and tofu in his own bags, and promptly accepted the offer.
Seeing Saitama's acceptance, Yecheng was momentarily stunned, but in the end, he didn't say much more.
After all, Saitama had just helped him, and inviting someone for a meal was no big deal.
However, Yecheng had no idea that this meal would mark the beginning of his nightmare!
Compared to Saitama's living space, Yecheng's home was much more spacious, as he had knocked down the wall of the neighboring rental unit.
Whether the landlord approved of Yecheng's actions or not, Yecheng wasn't sure, as apart from himself and Saitama, there probably weren't any other living souls in this building.
The landlord had collected rent from Yecheng once during their initial meeting and then seemed to have disappeared, possibly assuming Yecheng had perished in Z City or unwilling to venture into the dangerous Z City for the meager rent.
"Yecheng, is this your home? Are you sure you haven't made a mistake?"
As a young man living alone, and a stay-at-home guy at that, Saitama had imagined Yecheng's home to be similar to his own, or perhaps even less impressive.
But as soon as he stepped inside, he was taken aback by what he saw.
Beyond the entrance hall was a living room furnished with luxury sofas, the latest gaming console, and game controllers and snack bags scattered on the floor, indicating Yecheng's recent intense gaming session.
What surprised Baldy the most was that, apart from the essential rooms like the living room, kitchen, and bedroom, Yecheng's home had an additional room dedicated to his collection.
This collection consisted of popular anime action figures and merchandise, ongoing and completed manga series, and various games!
Saitama was dumbfounded. Baldy had assumed that Yecheng, who shopped at the chain supermarket in Z City, was likely unemployed and struggling like himself. But the harsh reality revealed that Saitama was the only one in poverty, as Yecheng's collection clearly indicated he was a wealthy second-generation heir!
