Chapter 154: The Adventurer's Emergency Mission!
Chapter 154: The Adventurer's Emergency Mission!
As evening fell, the ranch was bathed in the warm glow of dusk. Three exhausted and stimulated challengers bid farewell to Naoki, their faces bearing signs of a satisfying day.
"Goodbye, Mr. Naoki! Thank you so much for your help today! We'll definitely visit again if we have the chance!" they called out as they turned to leave.
Naoki casually waved them off. "Take care!"
The trio left, content with the day's achievements. Naoki, on the other hand, turned his attention to the three riding goats, curious about their state after expending their excess energy.
They bleated cheerfully at him, looking relaxed and content. "No worries, you guys can keep resting," Naoki assured them.
On his way back to the house, Naoki contemplated the current situation with the riding goats. Both the dancing and battling methods provided only temporary relief from their excess energy.
He likened the goats to a water balloon—the balloon being the goat, and the water representing the Grass-type energy they gained from the grass pellets. When there was too much water, the balloon stretched beyond its limit, losing its balance. Thus, the excess water had to be released.
However, if the balloon was large enough, far exceeding the amount of water within, then no matter how much water was added, it wouldn't burst.
To prevent the riding goats from needing to expel energy daily, Naoki realized he needed to enhance their physical strength and expand their energy capacity. In this world, the methods for doing so seemed limited to relentless training and intense battles.
"If only I could create a dish to help with this," Naoki thought wistfully. He recalled the rock salt stir-fried soil that Saltrex enjoyed daily, effectively strengthening its body. It was a shame that it didn't have the same effect on Grass-type riding goats.
As evening turned to night, the Pokemon who had spent the day playing outside began returning to their nests.
Golems lay lazily by the bed, its tail swaying leisurely. Motostoke and Aerodactyl stood in front of the refrigerator, guzzling down cups of tree fruit juice.
Naoki set about preparing dinner for everyone. The bright dancing flames and the mouthwatering aroma of cooking food filled the room with a cozy ambiance. Smoke rose from the chimney, mingling with the orange soda-like sunset that streamed through the windows.
As Naoki tended to the sizzling meat patties in the pan, his thoughts drifted to Teddiursa and Mimey. It had been almost half a month since he last heard from them, and he wondered where they were and how they were doing.
Based on the messages they had sent and the Pokemon they had sent them with, Naoki guessed that there was a seventy percent chance they were currently in the Kanto or Johto region. The two regions were part of the same continent and very far from the Paldea region.
Given the time difference, it would be late at night there while it was evening at the ranch.
Naoki imagined the two fluffy Pokemon, fast asleep in a spacious tree hole base that Mimey had magically crafted inside a large tree, just like wild Pokemon. They would be curled up together, snug in each other's embrace.
Soon, dinner was ready, and the sky outside had darkened completely. Naoki and his Pokemon family sat down to enjoy their meal.
Meanwhile, far away in the Kanto region, as Naoki had surmised, the night had indeed reached the late hours. Waves crashed relentlessly against the steep coastline, the deep ocean stretching endlessly into the darkness.
A few days prior, they had arrived at this location.
Local Pokemon spoke of a mysterious figure that appeared in the depths of the sea at midnight, lurking in the vicinity.
It was an unknown creature, shrouded in mist, as massive as a monster, yet always emitting a lonely cry.
A Krabby that lived by the seaside was terrified of this entity, and coincidentally, it had heard about the Adventurer Brothers, a renowned duo of Pokemon, currently traveling and eager to aid any Pokemon in need.
Upon learning of their presence in the area, the Krabby sought them out and requested their help in investigating the mysterious giant shadow.
And so, Mew and Teddiursa, imbued with a spirit of adventure and righteousness, found themselves here.
They waited patiently atop the lighthouse, anticipating the arrival of the enigmatic Pokemon.
Just then, Mew and Teddiursa spotted three suspicious figures below.
It was a team composed of two humans and a Meowth.
The Rocket Squad, intent on sneaking into the lighthouse, were oblivious to the watchful eyes of the duo above, witnessing their excitement.
Musashi, crouching in the lead, fantasized, "There must be a lot of valuables here!"
Her companion, Kojirou, shared her enthusiasm, "We might even find rare Pokemon! We'll catch 'em all!"
"And present them to the boss! Meow-nificent!"
"Meow?"
Mew tilted its head, eyeing the trio curiously.
"Imo!"
Having been besieged by a group of Meowth in the city before, Teddiursa didn't particularly favor this species of Pokemon.
But what surprised it now was the fact that this Meowth could speak human language!
Just as the two Pokemon were filled with confusion, a thin layer of mist rose from the sea.
Immediately after, Mew, as if sensing something, turned around.
Together with Teddiursa, they beheld an enormous shadow approaching from the distant sea.
It was a shadow far beyond their imagination.
Although Mew and Teddiursa had anticipated something, they were still shocked by the sight before them.
"Imo!" (It's huge!)
The shadow was veiled in the darkness of night, its body surrounded by a thick fog that obscured its true form.
Simultaneously, the Rocket Squad below had also noticed the looming shadow.
They, too, wore expressions of shock, but then, a brilliant idea popped into Musashi's mind.
"If we could catch this guy and present him to the boss..."
"Great idea!" Kojirou applauded.
"Go for it, Meowth!"
As the shadow reached the shore, the trio sprang into action, commanding their Pokemon to attack the mysterious figure.
However, their actions only served to anger the powerful Pokemon, and with a single strike, it sent the three of them flying.
"What an unpleasant feeling!"
With the trio blasted away, the lighthouse beneath Mew and Teddiursa also suffered the brunt of the powerful force, resulting in significant damage to half of the structure.
A gleam flashed in Mew's eyes, and it levitated into the air alongside Teddiursa.
The shadowy figure let out a sorrowful cry before turning around and retreating back into the sea.
As the mist dissipated slightly, Teddiursa, in that fleeting moment of the creature's turning, managed to catch a vague glimpse of its form through the heavy fog.
It was... a Dragonite?! Teddiursa was stunned.
"Imo..."
How could there be such a massive Dragonite?! It was unlike any Dragonite he had ever seen!
