Chapter 154: Rita Skeeter's Interview
Chapter 154: Rita Skeeter's Interview
When Ivan saw Rita Skeeter, he knew he was in trouble.
Sure enough, it only took a moment for Rita Skeeter to push her way through the crowd, fiddling with her voluminous hair and leaning in to stare intently at Ivan as she spoke.
"Hello, Mr. Hals. I am Rita Skeeter, a reporter for the Daily Prophet. You can call me Mrs. Skeeter."
Ivan frowned, not wanting to deal with this old woman. He knew all too well that whatever he said, she would twist it into something entirely different.
Fortunately, Douglas intervened, glaring at Rita and speaking with evident displeasure.
"If you want an interview, wait until the experiment is over. Before that, Hals has no time to answer your questions."
Rita Skeeter paid him no mind, but Douglas stood firm like an immovable tower, refusing to budge.
"Fine, I'll do an exclusive interview later." Rita Skeeter reluctantly put away her quill but still glanced at Ivan before leaving.
"I mean, if your Wolfsbane Potion really works."
With that, Rita Skeeter sauntered away.
"I didn't expect the Daily Prophet to send this woman for an interview. She's not an easy person to deal with", Douglas said, clearly frustrated.
"Why did you agree to her interview for me just now? Wouldn't it have been better to refuse her outright?" Ivan asked, puzzled. He had no interest in cooperating with this troublesome woman.
"The Daily Prophet is the largest newspaper in the wizarding World. It's best not to offend them, especially since they'll write articles about you regardless of whether you agree to an interview or not", Douglas explained.
After a pause, he added, "And I've heard that this woman can be bought with money. You might want to consider that approach."
Ivan thought to himself, I need to have that much Galleons first.
After a brief conversation, Ivan walked up to the viewing stand in the observation room. It looked like a miniature arena, with the stands raised high on all sides and a flat, open area in the center.
The Werewolf wizard was already standing there, looking somewhat nervous. He nodded to the crowd and drank the dark brown Potion in his hand.
Ivan glanced at the clock hanging in the distance; it was five minutes before midnight.
As time drew closer,
the Aurors responsible for protection tightened their grips on their Wands, watching the figure on the platform with heightened alertness, ready to subdue him if he transformed.
The Werewolf wizard noticed this and showed a bitter expression, but when he looked at Ivan, a hint of gratitude appeared in his eyes.
Under the scrutiny of the crowd, the five minutes slowly passed.
The Werewolf wizard suddenly began to tremble, his body elongating, his thin arms growing thick fur, and his nails becoming sharp and elongated.
Most alarming was the large wolf head filled with sharp teeth, which made many of the observing wizards frown in disgust.
However, in stark contrast, after completing the transformation, the Werewolf wizard seemed at a loss, appearing extremely uncomfortable. He tried to shield himself from the crowd's gaze with his furry arms.
As Douglas had mentioned before, most werewolves, after transforming, are unwilling to let others see their hideous appearance.
Despite their noble status, most of the wizards present were witnessing a Werewolf transformation for the first time, so they observed with great interest.
"Looks like werewolves aren't as terrifying as the legends say. I wonder why adult wizards are still attacked by werewolves every year."
Seeing the trembling and fearful appearance of the Werewolf, Stamp shook his head in disappointment. This performance was far from the savage image he had imagined.
"That's because of the Wolfsbane Potion. If it weren't for that, the Werewolf would have already torn your throat out!" Marcus rudely interrupted Stamp's musings.
As a wizard who had closely interacted with many werewolves, Marcus was well aware of their tenacity and terror, and he couldn't tolerate Stamp's nonsense.
The two quickly started arguing, drawing the attention of the surrounding wizards.
Ivan, however, was not paying attention to them. His gaze was fixed on a few people in the front row, the ones who truly held the power to make decisions.
Dumbledore, with his half-moon spectacles, carefully examined the Werewolf, seemingly confirming its condition. After a moment, he spoke up first.
"It seems Mr. Hals' Wolfsbane Potion has successfully and perfectly maintained the Werewolf wizard's sanity."
"Indeed, I agree!" Fudge nodded in satisfaction. Although he had no expertise in werewolves, he saw a transformed Werewolf trembling and crouching like a dog.
That was enough, wasn't it?
Headmaster Bohan immediately approached the Werewolf wizard, disregarding the Aurors' attempts to block him. He inquired about the Werewolf's condition and occasionally tapped the Werewolf's body with his Wand.
Camera lights flashed around, and Rita Skeeter took out her Quick-Quotes Quill to take notes, even trying to get closer for an interview.
After a while, once it was confirmed that the Werewolf was no longer aggressive, Fudge slowly stepped forward and cordially met with the Werewolf wizard. After a lengthy and boring speech,
Fudge smiled and shook the Werewolf's hand, concluding that the Werewolf wizard was no different from a regular wizard and was a part of the magical community!
Ivan maliciously thought that if the Werewolf wizard suddenly lost control and infected Fudge, the Minister of Magic wouldn't be able to smile anymore.
Unfortunately, his Wolfsbane Potion worked exceptionally well, and the Werewolf wizard had no courage to attack the Minister of Magic.
After leaving the venue, Ivan followed Douglas to the Patent Office on the seventh floor underground to register the Wolfsbane Potion. Upon opening the door, he saw Rita Skeeter waiting by the Patent Office entrance, clearly having waited for a long time.
"So, our young genius, Mr. Ivan Hals, can we start the interview now?" Rita Skeeter said with a bright smile.
"Of course, if you want to know something", Ivan shrugged indifferently.
Ask away, he wasn't as easy to handle as Harry.
