Chapter 154: No
Chapter 154: No
After experiencing so many scenarios, Treasure Seeker clearly knew that none of this was real.
It lay on the hospital bed, listening to the human who looked exactly like its Beastmaster speak, most of which it couldn't understand.
After listening for a while, Treasure Seeker felt hungry and instinctively raised its paw to take off the Ring.
Upon touching, it realized the Ring was gone.
"Ghostie..."
Treasure Seeker pouted.
"Are you hungry?" The person who looked like Qiao Sang took a black fruit from the fruit basket and handed it over. "Here, your favorite Shadow Flame Fruit."
"Ghostie."
Treasure Seeker uncontrollably took it and started eating.
It sighed inwardly, wanting to drink milk instead of this black, round thing.
"Such a big guy, and you still get juice on your face." The person who looked like Qiao Sang smiled, took a tissue from beside the bed, and wiped Treasure Seeker's mouth.
Treasure Seeker was taken aback, seeing a glimpse of its Beastmaster in this human for the first time.
Time passed quickly in the dream, and before it knew it, the person had aged.
Treasure Seeker looked at the human with white hair and wrinkled skin, finding it hard to believe this was the same person who once looked like its Beastmaster.
She lay quietly on the bed, her eyes slightly closed, her face pale and bloodless, with various tubes connected to her body.
Treasure Seeker felt a strange sense of panic, a feeling that was no longer controlled by the dream but belonged to it.
After an indeterminate amount of time, the person on the bed opened her eyes. She opened her mouth, her voice weak. "Lantern God, go out with Nuan Nuan for a while. She rarely comes, so keep her company for me."
"Ghostie..."
"I'm fine. There are still many people here with me." The person on the bed smiled, seemingly suddenly regaining some vitality.
"Grandma, I don't want to go. I'll stay here with you." A clear, young voice came from behind.
"The air here isn't good. I'll get up and go home soon. You can go out for a walk and come back, and then we can leave." The person on the bed said.
Treasure Seeker, unable to control its body, turned its head and noticed several people standing behind it, one of whom looked about the same age as its Beastmaster.
Just as Treasure Seeker was about to leave, the person on the bed called out, "Wait."
Treasure Seeker turned its head.
"Have a good time." The person's expression was gentle.
But Treasure Seeker felt uneasy.
Because it saw a glimpse of its Beastmaster in her, but its Beastmaster wouldn't be like this, always looking so drained.
...
The scene shifted again.
Treasure Seeker's eyes lit up at the bustling night market. It wanted to explore, but its body remained unresponsive.
"Lantern God, will Grandma be okay?" the girl beside it murmured.
"Ghostie."
The girl didn't understand and continued speaking to herself. "She'll be fine. Grandma is a Beastmaster, and everyone says Beastmasters are very powerful and can live a long time. My classmate's grandfather is 133 years old and still in good health. He even came to the parent-teacher meeting a while ago."
"My dad said Grandma used to participate in competitions and even went to the Hidden Realm. If she hadn't met Grandpa, she might have participated in the Regional Tournament and become a very powerful Professional Beastmaster."
"Ghostie."
Suddenly, Treasure Seeker found itself unable to move.
The girl didn't notice and continued walking forward.
"Grandma doesn't seem like someone who would fall in love easily. Was Grandpa very handsome in his youth? I doubt it. My dad is so ugly, and they say he inherited his looks from Grandpa. Luckily, I took after the good traits."
"This time, it's also my dad's fault. He was crying when we got here, and I thought Grandma was about to pass away."
Her voice grew distant. "But Grandma lying in the hospital did look scary with all those tubes. But she said she would be ready to go home soon, so she should be fine."
"If anything happens, Lantern God, as Grandma's familiar, would definitely sense it..."
Treasure Seeker remained in place.
Despite the bustling crowd around it, everyone instinctively kept their distance, leaving a clear space around it.
It couldn't help but raise its head. Not far away, a large screen on a high-rise building was showing a Beastmaster tournament.
Why can't it be? Treasure Seeker thought.
It felt like only a moment had passed, yet the person had aged so much.
Even though it wasn't truly bonded to the person as a familiar, it could still sense the death aura surrounding her, a feeling shared by all Ghost-type Supernatural Creatures.
The aura was so intense that it seemed she might vanish from this world at any second.
Treasure Seeker's body began to tremble uncontrollably, its heart racing, and its limbs turning cold.
These weren't its own feelings.
In the next instant, it turned and walked back the way it came. The lights around it flickered and went out as it passed, then returned to normal.
Treasure Seeker saw the person again.
She was lying in bed with her eyes closed, and the man beside her had red-rimmed eyes. “Mom, let Nuan Nuan and Lantern God come to see you one last time,” he said.
The person on the bed moved her eyelids slightly, then used all her strength to glare at the man.
Her lips moved, but no sound came out.
Treasure Seeker floated to her face. The people standing beside her didn't react, as if they couldn't see it.
The person on the bed, however, froze, as if she sensed something.
At that moment, Treasure Seeker involuntarily reached into its own body...
“Don’t...”
In a daze, Treasure Seeker thought it heard someone speaking.
...
West Shadow Neighborhood.
“Ghost Lantern, stop struggling. I won’t let you escape. When it’s light, I’ll take you to see your Beastmaster,” Qiao Sang said, pulling Ghost Lantern back by hand after it had managed to crawl a short distance.
Fangy was no help, so it had to rely on itself.
Qiao Sang placed Ghost Lantern next to Fangy and positioned himself behind it, avoiding its eyes to prevent being affected.
“Ghostie...”
Ghost Lantern struggled with its arms stretched forward.
It had never seen such an annoying human! He talked non-stop, from the moment they started until now!
Nothing like those who usually gave it a wide berth.
Ghost Lantern paused, then made another desperate attempt to crawl forward.
Qiao Sang mercilessly yanked it back.
“It’s only 2 AM. If you don’t behave and keep trying to escape, I might just take you upstairs to Old Lady now. She’s old and you wouldn’t want to disturb her at night, would you?”
Ghost Lantern froze.
At that moment, Treasure Seeker slowly opened its eyes. When it saw the familiar person, its eyes turned red, and it lunged forward.
“Xun!”
“Xun Xun!”
Qiao Sang was startled. “What’s wrong? Did you have a nightmare?”
“Xun Xun...”
Tears streamed down Treasure Seeker’s face in large droplets.
Qiao Sang was shocked. He hadn’t expected Hypnosis to be so powerful. It seemed he should have Treasure Seeker practice this skill more often...
Seeing this, Ghost Lantern took the opportunity to crawl forward.
“I told you to stop struggling,” Qiao Sang said, quickly pulling it back.
Ghost Lantern: “...”
“Xun Xun...”
Treasure Seeker let out a couple of sobs and stopped crying. It turned and floated in front of Ghost Lantern, staring at it intently before bringing out its Friendship Milk.
Ghost Lantern stared blankly at the milk.
Qiao Sang drew in a sharp breath, amazed by the terrifying power of Hypnosis.
“Xun Xun.”
“Xun~”
“Ghostie!”
“Xun Xun...”
“Ghostie...”
Treasure Seeker and Ghost Lantern engaged in an intense exchange.
After about half an hour, Ghost Lantern’s eyes lost their focus, and it slumped to the ground, motionless.
Treasure Seeker floated to Qiao Sang and nodded.
Qiao Sang was dumbfounded.
