Chapter 154: A Single Sword Flash of Heaven's Lightning [77]
Chapter 154: A Single Sword Flash of Heaven's Lightning [77]
Sunagakure.
At the top of the Kazekage Tower, in the very center of the village, a large group of Sunagakure ninjas had gathered. The atmosphere in the conference room was oppressive and solemn, with some of the elite jonin sitting at the edges, their brows beaded with cold sweat.
"You should all be aware by now of the reappearance of the Silver Flash," the Fourth Kazekage, Rasa, said in a low voice, addressing the assembled ninjas. "He has shown up at the ancient desert town of Loulan, on the border of our village and the Fire Country. The reason I've called you here today is to hear your thoughts and judgments on this matter."
The Silver Flash isn't dead!
Upon receiving this intelligence, Rasa's heart was nearly shaken to its core. He almost instantly suspected that the 'disappearance' and presumed 'death' of the Silver Flash were likely illusions created by Konoha.
What could Konoha's intentions be? He dared not think too deeply about it.
With the Silver Flash still alive and the existence of the powerful Golden Flash, Konoha now possessed the strength to truly unify the ninja world!
While unifying the ninja world wasn't as simple as crushing other villages, it also involved the synchronization and assimilation of the great nations, a challenging and lengthy process. The absorption of smaller countries by the great powers would also take a considerable amount of time.
However...
It was undeniable that Konoha was now extremely dangerous!
"The Silver Flash has been hiding in Loulan for two years, and he must have some purpose," said an elite jonin sitting to Rasa's left. "Perhaps he has plans targeting our Sunagakure... Kazekage-sama, I fear we must enter a state of maximum alert from now on."
Rasa nodded, his voice grave as he replied, "I've already instructed the Anbu to double their defenses and enhance the village's sensory barrier to its highest level. Additionally, I've dispatched a group of ninjas from the security forces to guard key locations and report any developments."
Hearing this, some of the jonin breathed a slight sigh of relief, looking at Rasa with renewed respect. "As expected of Kazekage-sama. It seems you've already made the necessary preparations."
"Not at all," Rasa shook his head. "These measures may not be enough. If Konoha truly has secret plans targeting Sunagakure, we will likely have great difficulty stopping them when they make their move. Therefore, we must uncover Konoha's schemes and the Silver Flash's intentions. Do any of you have any ideas?"
The conference room fell silent.
After a moment, someone spoke up, their voice steady. "Kazekage-sama, I believe we should send more scouts to investigate the situation in Loulan. Perhaps Konoha's plans are hidden there."
"I disagree," came a rebuttal from the side. "Sending people to spy on Loulan is pointless if the Silver Flash is there. We all know his capabilities; it would just be sending our people to their deaths."
"I think we should contact our spies in Konoha and instruct them to find out Konoha's intentions at all costs..." Another ninja added, "...It would also be best to inform Iwagakure about this development."
"Loulan is located north of the Rain Country," a ninja pointed out. "With the Rain Country currently in a state of chaos due to the invasion by Iwagakure, there's a possibility that the Silver Flash's appearance in Loulan is related to plans targeting Iwagakure. We should instruct them to deploy their forces to gather intelligence as well."
"I believe we shouldn't notify Iwagakure," objected another ninja. "It's better if we just focus on strengthening our own defenses."
"If Konoha's plans are indeed targeting Iwagakure," came another rebuttal, "why should we help them by spying on Konoha?"
This opinion quickly gained support, and many voiced their opposition to the previous suggestion.
The reason was simple.
Now wasn't the time for the great ninja villages to be plotting against each other. If they didn't cautiously unite, they would surely be picked off one by one by Konoha.
After listening to the discussions, Rasa made his decision and rapped his knuckles on the table.
Dong! Dong!
The conference room immediately fell silent.
Having dealt with the ninjas who disagreed with him and sidelined Ebizo, Rasa now had complete control over Sunagakure, with all the high-ranking ninjas obedient to his commands.
With the room quiet, Rasa stood up and spoke in a solemn tone. "Liaison unit, move out immediately and contact Iwagakure. Relay the detailed intelligence regarding the Silver Flash!"
"Yes, sir!"
The liaison unit captain acknowledged the order.
Rasa then addressed the other ninjas in the room, assigning them various tasks and ensuring that the alert level within Sunagakure's borders in the Wind Country was raised to the highest level.
"The Silver Flash is a very dangerous ninja. He alone is already a formidable threat. While we are not afraid even if we retract our defenses and reduce our forces, if he were to join forces with ninjas like the Golden Flash, the consequences would be extremely dire."
"Once we detect any signs of their approach, we must evacuate the village as quickly as possible," Rasa emphasized, his hand resting on the table.
"Therefore, everyone present here must act immediately. We need to be prepared to abandon the village if necessary!" Rasa continued, his voice steady.
"This..." The ninjas in the conference room exchanged uncertain glances.
Abandoning the village? Wasn't that a bit too cautious? After all, evacuating the entire village was no small feat, and it would result in significant losses.
While it was true that the Silver Flash was fearsome and had single-handedly conquered the Rain Ninja Village, it was still just the Rain Ninja Village.
Although some ninjas had doubts, no one voiced any objections. They all acknowledged Rasa's orders and prepared to carry out their respective tasks.
However, just at that moment, some of the ninjas in the room stiffened, their faces paling as they sensed something amiss. Even Rasa's expression changed drastically, and he looked intently in a particular direction outside the window.
"What's going on with this chakra...?!"
The ninjas with stronger perception abilities sensed a terrifying chakra surging in that direction.
Looking out, they saw that the sky in that direction had become shrouded in dark clouds, with thick strands of lightning crisscrossing the horizon.
Witnessing this, everyone's faces drained of color as a foreboding feeling washed over them.
"Could it be...?"
Rasa, too, sensed something terrible about to happen, and just as he was about to take action, a dazzling light erupted from that direction.
The light obscured the sky.
It was like a proud sun wrapped in lightning! Outside the village, Feng Ye stood bathed in the silver light, gazing at the Grass Cutter Sword that was now glowing with a brilliant white light. His eyes sparkled with determination.
"Heaven's Flash!"
He took a step forward, both hands gripping the hilt of the sword, and with a swift motion, he swung the sword horizontally.
Buzz!
A blinding white light erupted from the sword's edge, so brilliant that it seemed to dim the world around it. It transformed into a terrifying, massive arc of light that shot forward.
The arc of light pierced through the mountains surrounding Sunagakure, as if slicing through the air without any resistance. It penetrated the village, drilling through the towering rock walls, and emerged from the other side.
Fizz!
Feng Ye watched, his hand still holding the sword that was now fading from its brilliant glow. His eyes, calm and detached, shifted towards the direction of Sunagakure.
On the towering rock walls surrounding the village, a clear fissure appeared, as if a giant sword had cleaved it in two from the center.
Then, to the shock and disbelief of the ninjas within Sunagakure, the entire village seemed to split in two. All the buildings, along with the enclosing rock walls, cleanly separated at the center and rose into the sky.
It was as if the world itself had been cleaved in two, dividing the heavens!
This world-splitting sword strike served as a declaration of his return, announcing the resurgence of the Silver Flash!
