Chapter 1537: A Small Advantage
Chapter 1537: A Small Advantage
With death staring them in the face, how dare the members of the Order of the Phoenix take the initiative to attack them? This move undoubtedly offended the Death Eaters, who thought victory was within their grasp.
In their meager minds, the Order of the Phoenix, who were already at a numerical disadvantage, now had their forces further divided by the three offensive routes of the Death Eaters.
Being outnumbered and outpowered, they should be cowering like mice.
But instead, these mice dared to claw at the cats. How could the Death Eaters not feel enraged?
However, what truly infuriated the Death Eaters was that they held no advantage, and even fell into a disadvantage, when dealing with these pesky mice. This caused the arrogant Death Eaters to fly into a rage.
Unfortunately for them, their anger was futile.
Undeniably, those who had become Death Eaters were not weak, but they were up against a group of prepared enemies. The outcome was inevitable, and they paid the price, dying in an especially humiliating way.
There was no choice. Whether it was the Order of the Phoenix, the Defense Association, or Dumbledore's Army, they had all been researching ways to defeat their enemies at the smallest cost. It was only natural to use underhanded methods against the Dark Wizards.
Ambush was undoubtedly one of the simplest methods, especially after taking Felix Felicis, as they all became adept at seizing opportunities to land a fatal blow on their enemies.
As for the potential damage to their reputation, hardly anyone truly cared. After all, these were enemies they were fighting to the death with, and it was only normal to try every means to defeat them.
"What are you all thinking about? We need to leave this place as soon as possible."
Bill frowned deeply as he saw someone showing mercy to the unconscious Dark Wizards.
"If we don't finish off the enemies, do you intend to wait for them to come back after their Easter break and cause trouble for you again?"
"Alright, Bill. They're just... not used to war yet." Fleur comforted her husband, biting her lip. "I'll do it."
"Albert has really been too protective of them."
Bill sighed and, in front of everyone, waved his wand to kill the few Dark Wizards they had knocked out earlier.
Realizing the others' gazes, Fleur explained, "Our people have been monitoring Hogwarts Castle. If we only knock them out and don't deal with them, it will mislead those monitoring the castle."
"War always involves death. If the enemies don't die, you will. Do you want to risk your life or the lives of your friends because of these insignificant foes?" Bill gave them a tip, considering that they were fighting together.
As for whether they were willing to kill their enemies or not, Bill didn't really mind. At worst, they could just finish them off after the battle was over.
While he didn't like killing, he didn't mind doing it either.
"Enough, Bill. Now's not the time for that. Another team is approaching." Fleur interrupted directly.
"How many?" Bill put away his wand.
"Only three." Fleur put away the live map, "But we have to hurry, or we'll be blocked by the enemies again."
Bill glanced at the corpses beside him and murmured, "Just enough for some waste utilization."
Soon, the three Dark Wizards were dealt with by Bill's team, who pretended to be their "comrades" and launched a surprise attack, taking advantage of their confusion and panic.
"By the way, how many of those guys are there? They keep popping out like cockroaches." Bill took the map from Fleur, scanning the surrounding situation while thinking of ways to defeat the enemies with minimal cost.
"They're not cockroaches, they're thugs." Fleur corrected.
"It's all the same." Bill looked at the rapidly converging red dots on the map and frowned, "It seems that a large number of Dark Wizards are gathering. We need to hurry."
His finger slid across the map, and he pointed to a passageway, "We'll encounter a team of five at the second corner. We must take them out quickly to avoid running into the larger force behind them."
This was actually a very wise choice. Not far from Bill's team, Yaxley, who had just intruded into the castle, had already gathered a large number of Dark Wizards around him.
According to the original plan, they were supposed to infiltrate separately and then occupy the castle after wiping out the remaining resisters. However, with their obvious numerical advantage, it was natural to expand their advantage.
And the simplest and most straightforward way Yaxley chose was to rely on their numbers and push forward.
"Although we expected this from the beginning, those stupid guys are still resisting, which displeases the Dark Lord." Yaxley glanced at the group of impatient Death Eaters and continued, "Only by making them completely desperate will they submit to the Dark Lord."
"What should we do?" a Death Eater asked, following the script.
"I will select people from among you to form three squads, each with fifteen people. I need you to launch surprise attacks and pincer attacks on those three teams that are still resisting us, shattering their unrealistic hopes."
"Isn't the number a bit too small?"
"You are not the main force. You are to assist the werewolves, giants, and Acromantulas in breaking through the blockade of the Order of the Phoenix quickly, so that they understand the consequences of their stubborn resistance." Yaxley looked around at the people present and asked, "Who wants to go?"
As soon as he finished speaking, many Dark Wizards raised their hands. They looked at each other and quickly formed three teams on their own.
To be honest, compared to staying in the castle and fighting with the Order of the Phoenix, it was better to go outside and bully some weaklings. At least they felt it would be safer out there.
"Why don't we send more people?"
"If you don't mind giving the credit to others?" Yaxley glanced at the speaker and reminded them, "This is your last chance. Don't come to me later and complain that I didn't give you an opportunity."
Everyone shut up! Because Yaxley was right.
This was probably their last chance.
After the Order of the Phoenix was wiped out, there would be no one left in Britain to resist them. Without enemies, there would be no easy way to gain credit.
However, they soon had no time to talk, as a pitch-black corridor suddenly blocked their way. It was a darkness that no spell could penetrate, and some despicable people even threw poison gas bombs into the corridor, making them feel dizzy and nauseous as soon as they approached.
Although Yaxley believed this was a trick of the enemies to prevent them from passing through, when someone almost fell into the swamp and suffocated, no one dared to take the risk anymore. In this situation, unless Yaxley wanted to take the risk himself, they had no choice but to take a detour.
