"Guy, is your family free today? I'd like to pay a home visit," Mu Yue said to Might Guy after their training session.
"Huh? A home visit?" Guy scratched his head, puzzled. Home visits by teachers were not a custom in the Ninja Academy, so he was a bit confused by Mu Yue's request.
"You can think of it as me paying a visit to your home. After all, you're the first Gate of Eight Inner Trigrams practitioner I've met besides myself," Mu Yue explained with a smile.
"Sure, that's no problem. You're always welcome," Guy nodded eagerly, delighted at the prospect of having Mu Yue over. He was incredibly grateful for all the help Mu Yue had given him.
Whether it was becoming the top student in their grade or defeating that ninja who spoke ill of his father, Guy attributed his recent success to Mu Yue's guidance and training. He wouldn't be where he was today without Mu Yue's help.
"Then, if you don't mind, I'll run home and let my dad know so he can prepare more food," Guy suggested.
Guy's father, Might Dai, didn't have a fixed schedule for cooking, so sometimes Guy would come home to a ready meal, and other times he'd have to start from scratch.
"Don't worry, I can come with you, and we can pick up some ingredients along the way," Mu Yue offered gently.
Although Mu Yue didn't initially plan on eating, he didn't want to refuse Guy's hospitality, and joining him for a meal would also make it easier to execute his plans in the future.
"But it's troublesome for you, Teacher Mu Yue, to buy ingredients as a guest," Guy shook his head, feeling it wasn't right.
"Just consider your teacher a picky eater," Mu Yue chuckled as he ruffled Guy's hair affectionately.
Guy still felt uneasy about the arrangement, but he couldn't argue with Mu Yue and eventually relented.
With Guy leading the way, they made their way to his home, stopping at a nearby market to pick up some fresh produce.
"I'm home!" Guy pushed open the door and announced his return.
"Welcome back, Guy! Did you burn with the passion of youth in your training today?" Might Dai called out enthusiastically as he washed the vegetables.
"Of course! Today was another day of youthful fervor!" Guy replied instinctively.
Then, remembering Mu Yue's presence, he quickly added, "Dad, hold on a second. We have a guest with us today."
"Oh? A guest?" Might Dai paused his chores and made his way towards the entrance.
"Dad, this is Teacher Mu Yue. He's a teacher at the Ninja Academy, and he's an exceptional one at that. His teaching abilities are so outstanding that he's already been promoted to a special jonin," Guy introduced Mu Yue proudly.
Following Mu Yue's previous instructions, Guy refrained from revealing too much information and stuck to what everyone already knew.
"A special jonin? Then he must be an incredible ninja!" Might Dai exclaimed, flashing a wide grin and giving Mu Yue a thumbs-up.
"Hello, Dai-san," Mu Yue greeted him with a smile. Guy had briefly introduced Might Dai on their way over.
Might Dai's respect for Mu Yue skyrocketed. Despite being significantly older than Mu Yue, he felt that as a special jonin, Mu Yue deserved his respect and didn't need to address him as a senior.
"Dad, Teacher Mu Yue bought these ingredients on the way here," Guy handed the bag of groceries to his father.
"Oh no, we can't have our guest buying ingredients," Might Dai frowned, feeling it wasn't appropriate.
"Haha, I couldn't help but buy them when I saw the merchant offering a discount. My apologies if this causes any inconvenience," Mu Yue said with a laugh.
Might Guy scratched his head. He hadn't been with Mu Yue when they bought the ingredients, so he didn't know if they had indeed been on sale or if Mu Yue had said that to make him feel better about accepting the offer.
Mu Yue didn't force himself to help with the cooking and cleaning, as it wouldn't be appropriate for a guest to be too forward. Moderation was key.
During the meal, Mu Yue took the initiative to start a conversation, smiling as he spoke. "Akai has been working very hard at school. Although his foundation was weak at first, he has gradually improved since the first semester of the fourth grade, and now he only has one rival in his year group."
"That's what youth is all about!" Might Dai exclaimed, hugging Might Guy and shedding tears. He was proud of his son's efforts.
Even though Guy had struggled at first, he never gave up and worked tirelessly. Might Dai was deeply moved as he witnessed his son's transformation from the bottom of the class to the top student.
"Dad, keep eating," Guy reminded him.
"Eat more," Might Dai urged with a smile. "Burning youth needs energy to sustain it."
After the meal, Mu Yue spoke up. "Dai-san, may I witness your Eight Inner Gates technique? I have also cultivated this forbidden technique."
"How do you know about that, and why would you cultivate such a forbidden technique?" Might Dai asked, surprised.
"Dad, I told Teacher Mu Yue about it," Guy explained.
"Aside from taking my class at the Ninja Academy, Akai is also my disciple," Mu Yue explained. "So, he once told me about his training in the Eight Inner Gates."
Mu Yue had carefully considered revealing their master-disciple relationship to Might Dai. Firstly, Dai was a reliable and unassuming man. Despite possessing the forbidden technique of the Eight Inner Gates, he had humbly remained a genin for many years. Mu Yue trusted that Dai would not divulge their secret.
Secondly, disclosing this relationship would increase Dai's goodwill towards him, making it easier to execute the plan to raise Guy's trust level.
"Teacher Mu Yue, it's not..." Guy was taken aback, as he had only intended to explain Mu Yue's knowledge of the Eight Inner Gates. He hadn't expected Mu Yue to reveal their forbidden relationship.
Mu Yue strictly forbade his disciples from disclosing their connections.
"It's fine," Mu Yue said gently. "After all, he is your father."
Guy felt the weight of Mu Yue's trust and made a mental note to remind his father not to speak of this to anyone.
"I see," Might Dai said, understanding some things that had previously confused him. "So that's how my son has become so strong."
Might Dai was well aware of Guy's capabilities. In the first semester of the fourth grade, Guy's strength had suddenly skyrocketed.
As Guy hadn't told him the reason, Might Dai had attributed it to his son's hard work finally paying off. However, it made more sense that he had a teacher guiding him.
"I am truly grateful for your help, Teacher Mu Yue!" Might Dai bowed deeply to express his sincerity.
He felt a sense of guilt towards his son. As a father, the only technique he could teach Guy was the extremely dangerous Eight Inner Gates. He didn't know any other ninjutsu or taijutsu to pass on, as he lacked those skills himself.
