Chapter 153: Dragon Knights and Dragon Taming Magic (First Update)
Chapter 153: Dragon Knights and Dragon Taming Magic (First Update)
At midnight, when everyone, including the portraits on the walls, had fallen asleep, Jerry cast a Disguise Charm on himself to avoid the patrolling Filch and Mrs. Norris, and quietly left Hogwarts Castle.
Cautiously sneaking through the darkness, he crossed the edge of the Black Lake and the Quidditch pitch, quickly reaching Hagrid's small cabin surrounded by large pumpkins.
"Stupefy!"
With a wave of his wand, he stunned the dog Fang, who was squatting by the door, then tiptoed carefully to the large window of the cabin.
Peering through the window, he saw Hagrid's massive body sprawled out on the bed in the corner of the room, sound asleep.
The thunderous snores shook the hams and wild chickens hanging from the ceiling, making them tremble.
"Hagrid, I'm sorry!"
After a brief observation to confirm that Hagrid was indeed deeply asleep, Jerry pointed his wand at the dragon egg in the fireplace. An invisible force wrapped around the egg, lifting it from the flames and sending it toward the large window.
Opening the box, he placed the dragon egg inside the box space, then pulled out a pre-written note from his wizard robe. Using Mind Control Magic, he sent the note to the center of the table in the cabin before slowly moving away.
The note he left was written in the guise of Quirrell, who had pretended to be a stranger to gain Hagrid's trust by losing the dragon egg in a card game.
The content of the note mainly expressed regret for losing the dragon egg to Hagrid and explained that he was taking it back to prevent Hagrid from getting into trouble.
In the movie, after Hagrid hatched the dragon egg, he didn't keep the dragon for long before Dumbledore discovered it and had it taken away, as per the Ministry of Magic's regulations that no one could privately own a dragon.
If Hagrid's dragon had been discovered, he might have even been sent to Azkaban for a while.
Of course, saying that Jerry stole the dragon egg for Hagrid's own good was a lie; he only wanted a powerful ally for the upcoming battle against the Avengers One.
However, despite feeling guilty toward Hagrid, he still had to steal the egg. His main focus was on enhancing his own strength, and as long as he didn't cross the line, he could accept it.
He could only hope to compensate Hagrid once he had the power to do so.
To be honest, over these past few days, Jerry had noticed that some of his actions were becoming increasingly Slytherin-like.
Perhaps the Sorting Hat had placed him in Slytherin partly because it detected certain traits in him that aligned with the house.
Back in the common room, Jerry leaped into the box space.
In the villa within the box space, Sun Long was carefully placing the black dragon egg into the roaring fireplace. Seeing Jerry appear, he asked curiously:
"What kind of egg is this, that it needs to be hatched in flames?"
Before stealing the dragon egg, Jerry had entered the box space and informed Sun Long that he would be sending a large egg soon. He instructed Sun Long to place the egg in the villa's fireplace and use the flames to hatch it slowly.
"Oh, that's a dragon egg, so it needs to be hatched in flames. But you don't need to be so careful; it's probably still one or two weeks away from hatching, so it won't happen that quickly!"
"Dragon egg! Dragons were supposed to be extinct, weren't they?"
Sun Long was taken aback upon hearing this.
In the world of The Sorcerer's Apprentice, both Western dragons and Eastern dragons had been extinct for a very long time. That's why he was so surprised when Jerry mentioned that this was a dragon egg.
Since Sun Long had been confined to the box space, Jerry hadn't let him out, so he didn't know that he was no longer in the The Sorcerer's Apprentice world.
"The world is vast and full of wonders. This is indeed a dragon egg, and it can hatch into a dragon!"
Jerry didn't elaborate further, simply shrugging his shoulders.
There were some things he didn't need to explain to Sun Long. Once he had extracted all the magical knowledge from Sun Long, he would send him back to the The Sorcerer's Apprentice world.
"If this really is a dragon egg that can hatch, maybe you'll become a dragon knight!"
Sun Long didn't press the matter further. After confirming that the egg could indeed hatch, he made a joke.
"What's a dragon knight?"
Jerry's interest was piqued.
Sun Long was surprised and explained:
"Didn't you know? In medieval times, when dragons weren't extinct, some court wizards would use dragon-taming magic to control dragons. Strong knights would ride these dragons into battle, and those who rode dragons in combat were called dragon knights!"
Jerry had only spent a week in the The Sorcerer's Apprentice world, so he had no detailed knowledge of its history.
Moreover, both the Mage manuals of the Merlin School and the Morgana School focused on the inheritance of magic. While they included some history of magic, they certainly didn't document the entire world's history.
So, Jerry was genuinely unaware of dragon knights and dragon-taming magic.
"Do you know dragon-taming magic?"
"Dragons are extinct, so who would learn dragon-taming magic? Even the Mage manuals have removed this spell."
Sun Long shrugged, but then added:
"However, you might want to ask Balthazar. He's lived for over two thousand years; he might have learned dragon-taming magic!"
"Balthazar, huh?"
Jerry pondered for a moment and nodded.
If there was a magic to control dragons, he had to learn it. Riding a dragon into battle would be far more impressive than riding a flying broom.
"Mr. Sun, just keep an eye on the fireplace to make sure the fire doesn't go out. I'm going to practice my meditation technique."
After one last look at the dragon egg in the flames, Jerry bid Sun Long goodbye and left the villa to practice his meditation technique in the Merlin array in the courtyard.
However, as he walked to the courtyard, another issue came to mind.
If the dragon egg hatched and the dragon grew to full size, would his current box space be large enough to raise an adult dragon?
The answer was clearly no.
So, in the coming days, he would need to spend some time researching the extension charm. If he mastered it, he could gradually expand the area of the box space.
Additionally, he would need to stockpile food for the dragon's growth, otherwise, it would be quite embarrassing if the dragon hatched and starved to death for lack of food.
