Chapter 153: Apologies, This Is the Creator of the Wolfsbane Potion
Chapter 153: Apologies, This Is the Creator of the Wolfsbane Potion
The casual chat with Dumbledore didn't last long. Notably, Ivan noticed that Douglas remained silent throughout, his face dark and without any intention to interject.
Only after Headmaster Bohan and Dumbledore had moved away did Douglas approach and pat Ivan on the shoulder.
"You've really gone through a lot", Douglas said with a sigh.
Ivan didn't quite understand the meaning behind Douglas's words but could see that his relationship with Headmaster Bohan was rather strained. This made him wonder why Douglas had invited the other two.
"I didn't invite them; they came on their own!" Douglas said, his face dark and displeased, seemingly reading Ivan's confusion.
"Let's go, I'll introduce you to a few more friends!" Douglas quickly composed himself, pulling Ivan towards other areas of the hall to converse with the remaining wizards.
Through these introductions, Ivan realized just how extensive Douglas's network was. Many of the wizards present were high-ranking officials from the Ministry of Magic, and some were even core members of the Order of Merlin.
The meeting in the main hall lasted for several hours, and Ivan, who had maintained a smile the entire time, felt his face was about to crumple from the effort.
"How much longer do we have to stay here?" Ivan rubbed his slightly sore cheeks, clearly unhappy.
"Of course, until tonight. You forgot it's the full moon tonight, didn't you?" Douglas said, smiling at the well-dressed wizards around them while lowering his voice.
"Although the Ministry has already verified the effects of your Wolfsbane Potion, we still need to see it in action with a Werewolf."
Ivan nodded but then felt a bit depressed, wondering why they couldn't have done this in the evening.
A while later, Ivan understood why.
As the clock struck nightfall, a crowd of people rushed in, looking like small-town reporters from the Muggle world, armed with old cameras or parchment and quick-writing quills.
Several Aurors were working hard to maintain order.
Ivan soon saw that Minister Fudge had also arrived.
After a long absence, Fudge looked refreshed and vibrant. He walked around, enthusiastically discussing the recent developments in the Wizarding World.
He particularly emphasized the Ministry's success under his leadership in combating the proliferation of Dark magic items and the capture of numerous dangerous Dark wizards.
Then, Fudge displayed a concerned expression about the living conditions of Werewolf wizards, drawing nods of agreement from the crowd.
After entering the hall, a bespectacled, clerical-looking wizard leaned in and whispered something to Fudge, pointing in Ivan and Douglas's direction.
Fudge listened for a moment, a warm smile spreading across his face, and he eagerly walked over to them, addressing Douglas.
"This is the creator of the Wolfsbane Potion, right? I must say, your Potion has significantly improved the lives of Werewolf wizards and made a great contribution to the Wizarding World."
Fudge was about to shake Douglas's hand enthusiastically but paused when he noticed no response, only a look of awkwardness as Douglas pointed to Ivan.
"Minister Fudge, this is the creator of the Wolfsbane Potion."
Fudge's smile froze, and his outstretched hand hung in the air, unsure whether to retract it.
The only sound in the room was the relentless clicking of cameras, faithfully recording this rare moment.
A middle-aged Witch in a magenta robe was particularly excited, scribbling furiously on her parchment, convinced this would be the headline news of the day!
If this article can pass the review smoothly,
As the atmosphere in the room became increasingly awkward, Ivan reached out to shake hands with Fudge.
"Minister Fudge, hello. I’m Ivan-Hals, the developer of the Wolfsbane Potion. I believe we have met before."
At this point, Ivan paused, then continued.
"Additionally, you were not wrong before. Mr. Douglas was my mentor in Potion-making. I owe much of my success in developing the Wolfsbane Potion to his help. In a sense, he is also one of the developers of the Potion."
"Ah, yes, yes! That’s exactly what I meant!" Fudge quickly adjusted his tone, shaking hands with Ivan vigorously. He used Ivan’s words to save face, managing to smooth things over.
At the same time, his gaze drifted to a clerk, giving him a stern look, but quickly turned back to Ivan when the camera flashed, his eyes now showing more appreciation.
Ivan didn’t pay much attention to Fudge’s change in attitude. He had only stepped in to help defuse the situation because he was worried that Fudge might hold a grudge for being embarrassed in public.
However, Fudge became increasingly interested in Ivan, especially after hearing from the head of the enforcement department that the recent purchases of magical items by the Ministry came from Ivan’s magical shop. He praised Ivan greatly and then insisted on taking several photos with him.
After a bit of fuss, when the time seemed right, Fudge suggested they move to the observation room to test the effects of the Wolfsbane Potion.
Ivan readily agreed; he had long been eager to leave.
Thus, the group quickly moved from the hall to the observation room downstairs, where there were ample precautions to prevent any accidents.
The test subject was a rather ordinary-looking Werewolf wizard, much to Ivan’s surprise, he was actually an employee of the Ministry of Magic.
"Can Werewolves work at the Ministry?" Ivan whispered to Douglas.
"Of course. The Ministry has reserved a position for them in the Department of Magical Sports and Games. They are specifically responsible for menial tasks. When one Werewolf wizard can no longer handle the job, the Ministry will hire another to take over." Douglas said with a hint of sarcasm.
Their conversation didn’t last long. As the focus of everyone’s attention, Ivan was constantly watched by several reporters from magical newspapers.
In particular, a middle-aged Witch with blonde hair and a round face was constantly examining him, jotting down notes on Parchment from time to time. When Ivan heard someone in the crowd refer to her as Rita Skeeter, he immediately became wary.
If he remembered correctly, Rita Skeeter was a reporter for the Daily Prophet and an illegal Animagus who could transform into a beetle. She was known for writing sensational and often fabricated news stories to attract attention.
As long as it could draw attention, fabricating stories was a common practice for her.
