Chapter 1525: Albert's Scheme
Chapter 1525: Albert's Scheme
The Death Eaters, who had once plotted to deal with the Aurors occupying Hogsmeade Village, were now on the receiving end of a brutal beating.
The effect was terrifyingly effective.
After this wave of assault, most of the Dark Wizards lost their lives, and those who managed to survive the bombing had lost much of their ability to fight back.
Only the Dementors, unaffected by the explosions, regained their wits and rushed towards the Aurors who had appeared outside the village.
The Aurors, prepared for this moment, summoned their Patronuses, colliding with the swarm of Dementors in a clash of light and darkness—the outcome was inevitable.
The Dementors, faced with the mass of Patronuses, scattered and fled under the oppressive force of their weakness being exploited.
Another group of Aurors, without pausing to summon their Patronuses, charged into the village under the cover of their comrades, sweeping through to take care of any remaining Dark Wizards who dared to stand.
The stunned Dark Wizards were no match for the Aurors, falling to their curses. Led by Aberforth, the group moved in to clean up the mess, finishing off any Dark Wizard to ensure none would suddenly rise to attack them again.
Surveying the broken bodies that littered the ground, Aberforth couldn't help but marvel at the potency of Felix Felicis. The Dark Wizards had planned to take Hogsmeade, but it was he and his group who had achieved it with such ease.
Initially, Aberforth thought Albert's idea was far-fetched, but he never expected it to go so smoothly. Dealing with the Dark Wizards was as easy as squashing clay figures—they were defeated without breaking a sweat.
This was not surprising at all.
Most of the Death Eaters' underhanded tactics were learned from Albert, so it was only natural that he could easily see through and counter them.
Especially...
Aberforth narrowed his eyes, discreetly observing the group of Aurors who were quietly undergoing a subtle transformation.
An effortless victory was silently changing their mindset.
Who would refuse an easy path to victory? The Aurors, most likely, would not.
Their initial reluctance to get involved stemmed from their fear of death. But now that they could effortlessly defeat the Dark Wizards, who wouldn't jump at such an opportunity?
"That guy is as terrifying as ever!"
Robeus kicked aside a severed leg and walked up to Aberforth, asking, "What's the plan now?"
"Of course, we do it again," Aberforth replied matter-of-factly.
Robeus's eyes twitched as he offered a well-meaning reminder, "Don't underestimate those Dark Wizards; they'll be on their guard now!"
"They were fools from the start and will continue to be fools, falling for our tricks. So, you don't need to worry about that," Aberforth assured him as he pulled out his detective's pocket watch. Seeing the dense cluster of red dots on it, he urged the Aurors, "Alright, let's get ready. We have more guests arriving soon!"
Surprisingly, the Aurors showed no signs of resistance this time and obediently erected a defensive barrier around the village.
After effortlessly defeating the two waves of enemies, they had a good idea of what was going on.
This situation was not new to the Aurors; they had experienced it before.
Aberforth, guided by Albert's plan, was likely leading them against the Death Eaters.
Unless the Death Eaters chose to abandon their attack on Hogsmeade, leaving a highly incompetent impression on Voldemort, they would undoubtedly continue their assault.
The reality, however, was more misleading. The one directing the attack on Hogsmeade Village was a Death Eater named Alecto Carrow.
This female Death Eater's proposal to attack Hogsmeade was sound and agreed upon by the other Death Eaters. They believed they would succeed in eliminating those hiding in the village who dared to oppose them.
And that was precisely why the defenders of Hogsmeade proved to be such a formidable thorn in their side.
After losing nearly a hundred Dark Wizards, Alecto Carrow had no choice but to report the situation to Voldemort, suggesting that the elite group of wizards was likely a carefully prepared bait by that Mudblood to lure and reduce their numbers.
Even though he was hit with a Cruciatus Curse, Voldemort didn't use the Avada Kedavra curse to kill her immediately.
At least, in Voldemort's eyes, Alecto Carrow still had some use, but the Dark Wizards who had died were of no consequence.
He truly didn't care about them.
If they could eliminate the group in Hogsmeade, it would weaken Harry Potter's forces. After all, any group capable of defeating a hundred Dark Wizards was undoubtedly powerful.
This further solidified Voldemort's determination to get rid of them, lest they become an obstacle to their future assault on Hogwarts Castle.
Walton McNair eventually took on the unpleasant task, as Alecto Carrow had mentioned that the group in Hogsmeade included Aurors from the Ministry of Magic.
As the Head of the Auror Office, he was obviously responsible for dealing with this matter.
"Master, if this is the Mudblood's scheme, it's best to ignore it or gather our forces to annihilate them completely," Yaxley suggested. He believed that only with Voldemort leading them personally could they ensure a foolproof plan. However, this idea was merely a thought, as it was obviously impractical.
Snape, standing nearby, volunteered himself for the task and suggested that it would be best to deal with the threat in Hogsmeade before launching their final attack.
Without Voldemort's involvement, if they wanted to wipe out the Aurors holed up in Hogsmeade, they would have to resort to some extreme measures.
But in the end, Voldemort didn't let Snape go either, nor did he intend to let him out of his sight.
After all, Voldemort also needed helpers, and Snape was needed to organize the forces for the attack on Hogwarts.
Although Voldemort could do it himself, he was the type to give orders, and he still needed reliable Death Eaters to make the necessary arrangements.
However, Voldemort had no idea what kind of people he had sent out, nor did he understand that this whole situation was a setup.
Even if they realized it, there was nothing they could do.
When Walton McNair led his team to Hogsmeade, the Aurors had already erected a tough and stubborn defensive barrier over the village ruins.
"Better not to force our way in?"
Alecto shared with her old friend what had just transpired.
Walton McNair's expression was grim. He didn't think he could persuade the Aurors to surrender, and while wiping them out seemed like the best option, the current situation suggested that doing so would be like falling into a deep pit, resulting in utter destruction.
Perhaps, as Yaxley had suggested, ignoring them or swallowing them whole in one go would be the best choice.
