Chapter 152: What About Trust Between People?
Chapter 152: What About Trust Between People?
Never test the limits of a Supreme Mage, for you will find they extend far beyond your reach.
Odin maintained a composed expression, continuing to smile benevolently. "I noticed you were staring at Thor's hammer while you were fighting him?"
Lu Ke was taken aback. Mjolnir was more than just a weapon to Asgard; it was a symbol of kingship, much like the Sword in the Stone. Even if he lacked the discernment, he wouldn't be foolish enough to ask for it.
"Sir, I actually have a side gig as a blacksmith. I was merely admiring Mjolnir's exquisite craftsmanship, unable to resist its beauty."
Lu Ke carefully chose his words, assuring Odin he had no ulterior motives.
"If you have the time, you should visit the dwarves in Vanaheim. They are the finest craftsmen in the Nine Realms, possessing mysterious powers and profound knowledge. Many of the treasures in my vaults were crafted by them."
Odin's face remained kind. "I will grant you access to the Bifrost. Just call out Heimdall's name, and he will transport you here."
With that, he cast a commanding glance at the crowd surrounding Lu Ke and smiled.
"Master Lu Ke, you are quite popular. It's clear the people of Asgard adore you."
"I also enjoy the friendly and passionate atmosphere of Asgard."
"That's good." Odin nodded. "My presence here makes them uneasy. Enjoy the feast."
"This victory celebration will last for three days and three nights. If you get bored, feel free to explore. Before you leave, I will take you to the vault to choose your reward."
With a final friendly smile, he patted Lu Ke on the shoulder.
"Have fun, Master Lu Ke."
With that, he gave a meaningful look to Ancient One and turned to leave.
Ah, this...
Lu Ke frowned. He had beaten Thor, the future king of Asgard, and instead of seeking revenge, Odin showered him with benefits. This was rather unusual.
Could it be that the All-Father saw his immense potential and decided to invest in him early on?
After some thought, this seemed to be the only explanation!
Being too talented had its downsides. Lu Ke sighed; everyone was practically falling over themselves to help him.
Once Odin left, the crowd around Lu Ke swelled again.
After a while, the drinks were flowing, and the food was plentiful. Seeing the high spirits of his comrades and the valkyries, he decided it was time to explore the deeper meanings of life.
He followed the hand that was feeling him up and pulled a beautiful valkyrie into his arms. The crowd erupted into laughter, the men whistling and teasing, while the women's gazes grew even more intense.
"Beautiful lady, may I know your name?"
"Skadi."
Lu Ke's brow furrowed. The name reminded him of a certain purple-haired woman. He scanned Skadi's beautiful and slightly masculine face.
Age was a non-issue here; otherwise, everyone would be his great-great-grandmother.
"Skadi, may I—"
His words were cut off as the beautiful Skadi transformed into a dark-skinned, muscular man.
No problem, just an illusion.
"May I... escort me back... to my chambers."
Struggling to finish his sentence, Lu Ke saw the burly man raise an eyebrow and respond in a rugged voice.
"Of course, but I'm not one to monopolize good things. Can my sisters join us?"
Following the man's gaze, Lu Ke saw a row of dark-skinned men staring at him with hunger and bashfulness, some even eyeing his companions.
Lu Ke: <(。_。)>
"Sure." Lu Ke forced a smile, kissed the man on the cheek, and said, "Wait for me a moment."
He released the valkyrie and pushed through the crowd to confront Ancient One, his anger rising. "Ancient One, do you think people are foolish just because they don't get angry? I'm really angry now!"
Ancient One didn't explain but looked at Lu Ke with a peculiar expression. "What did Odin say to you just now?"
"Didn't you hear?"
"The latter part of his voice was blocked."
"He said he would let me choose a gift from his vault before I leave, granted me access to the Bifrost, and invited me to learn blacksmithing from the dwarves."
Lu Ke answered irritably. "Anything else?"
"Only benefits, no requests?"
Ancient One was skeptical, eyeing him suspiciously. "You're not his son, and you beat his son. Why would he be nice to you?"
"Because I'm too talented. He's trying to curry favor. When I rule the universe alone, I'll leave the Nine Realms for his family to continue ruling."
"Ha!" Ancient One's face fell. "With your limited abilities, ruling the universe is a pipe dream. Beat Dormammu first before you start daydreaming."
Recalling Odin's expression as he left, Ancient One's face changed. "Wait, is Odin trying to recruit you? Did he ask you to become a citizen of Asgard!?"
Lu Ke gave him a puzzled look. "Can't you read minds? Can't you tell what I'm thinking?"
”
"Odin used Runes to seal your thoughts, at least within the borders of Asgard, I can't read them."
Really?
Luk tested his theory by mentally cursing, "Ancient One, you despicable, cunning, heartless, inhumane old man..."
Bang! Bang! Bang!
"You're lying! Didn't you say you couldn't read my mind?"
Luk, clutching his head, felt deeply hurt. Where was the trust between people?
"Even without reading your mind, I can guess what you were thinking."
Ancient One retracted her finger, her gaze growing more suspicious, "Mage Luk, don't despair. Following Asgard won't lead to a good future."
Indeed, whether in mythology or the Marvel universe, Asgard is destined to face Ragnarok, where the Fire Giant will obliterate Asgard with his massive sword.
As for Earth, whether in Marvel, DC, or other realms, it is always the center of the universe, plagued by countless powerful enemies who often fall to the heroes of Earth for various reasons.
"I'm overthinking it. Midgardians are the best, and I'm sticking with Midgard. In this life and the next, I'm a Midgardian through and through."
Ancient One nearly jumped up, "You even call Earth 'Midgard,' so you must want to become an Asgardian, right?"
"Gold."
Luk rolled his eyes, his body suddenly stiffening as he realized Odin was playing a dirty game, a blatant and transparent scheme. Even if he explained himself to Ancient One, she might not believe him, and even if she did, she would be thoroughly disgusted.
Good one, I knew there was no reason for him to just give things away. This is what he had in mind!
Luk sighed, acknowledging that these old timers had dirty minds. He shrugged off the matter, after all, he was the one getting the benefits while Ancient One was the one suffering.
"Don't try to blind me with magic again, or I'll really become an Asgardian."
With that, Luk left, surrounded by Skadi and her friends.
...
Two million words later.
Luk walked out of the bathroom, dried his body, and bent down to pick up his clothes. He used magic to clean them before putting them on.
He walked to the window and pulled the curtains open, letting the bright sunlight flood the room and illuminate the defeated female warriors lying haphazardly on the floor.
Asgardians have a body density three times that of Earthlings, and these female warriors, who train rigorously, are incredibly strong. However, they are not on the level of the Asgardian elite like the Valkyries, and they are far from matching Luk, who can pin Thor to the ground and hammer him.
"Indeed, it's not a good idea to date ordinary people."
He opened the door, preparing to explore Asgard, only to see a strikingly beautiful female warrior waiting for him outside.
"Uh, darling, you're a bit late. The party's over, and I was just about to go out. Come back tonight."
Luk looked at the warrior's beautiful features and scratched his head, "Alright, an overtime session can work too."
The warrior's face turned cold, "I didn't come here for that!"
"Then why are you here?"
The warrior bit her lip, her face turning a bit red. She looked around to ensure no one was around before whispering, "I need your help."
"Go on."
"I want you to help me win Thor's heart."
What?
Luk finally recognized the warrior, "You're Sif from the Warriors Three."
"Oh, how did you recognize me?" Sif was a bit surprised, as Luk had just called her by a generic name.
"Ah, your unrequited love for Thor is well-known throughout Asgard, even reaching Midgard."
"Really?"
Sif's face changed dramatically. Had she been that obvious? How did the news spread?
Another love-struck fool, judged.
Luk sighed, "Sif, I advise you to give up. Thor's priorities, from top to bottom, are Frigga, Odin, Mjolnir, and Loki. No matter how well you perform, you'll only be fifth, at best, competing with Loki for Thor's attention, but you can't compete with Mjolnir."
"Mjolnir and Loki can't give Thor happiness and children. Being fifth, I'm a special fifth."
Mjolnir might not, but Loki could...
Luk was a bit surprised, "Wait, you don't deny that Thor loves Mjolnir?"
Sif rolled her eyes, "It's too obvious. He eats, drinks, sleeps, and even goes to the bathroom with Mjolnir. It's practically a part of him."
"So, you have no hope." Luk shrugged, indicating he couldn't help.
"Because of that, I need your help."
Sif's face turned red, "I listened to the wall all night..."
Luk: ???
"You can seduce so many people, so you must be experienced in love, a despicable, heartless, and cunning scoundrel."
Luk: (_)
Regardless of the truth of her words, is this how you ask for help?
