Chapter 152: Classes and the Weekend
Chapter 152: Classes and the Weekend
After waiting for over forty minutes, the last student, who had fallen into a mud pit, finally entered the classroom, covered in mud. With this, today’s class content was officially over.
The professor, who had been hiding somewhere, clapped his hands and entered the room. Hearing the applause, all the young wizards blushed a bit, as most of them had failed to complete the maze.
"Don’t be so down, kids. This year’s first maze test was actually beyond the syllabus. Since we have some exchange students, I moved the content that should have been covered at midterm to now."
"But you all did well, with a third of you completing the entire maze, which makes me very happy." At this, the students below smiled happily.
"But", the professor’s tone shifted, "the three students from Hogwarts who joined our class today have never received any similar training. Despite this, two of them, though they didn’t complete the maze, managed to go further than half of our students. The third student not only completed the entire maze but also achieved the third-best time, particularly with his use of the Crushing Curse to blast through obstacles, showing a greater practical combat awareness than most of you. So don’t get too complacent with today’s performance."
Under the professor’s mixed criticism and encouragement, the students seemed to gain a lot, with the flame of determination rekindling in their eyes. The professor then announced the names of the top three students and told them to visit his office after Friday’s class to learn the Patronus Charm. He then dismissed the class.
At this point, David and his cousin approached and patted Liam on the shoulder. "Friend, I didn’t realize you were so skilled. How did you think of just blasting through the obstacles?"
Noticing several classmates looking at him expectantly for an answer, Liam quickly organized his thoughts. "It’s simple. The professor didn’t say we couldn’t damage the interior, so I just looked for the weakest points and blasted through them to avoid the tricky traps. After all, blowing up walls is a lot easier than fighting Kepora directly. Not to mention, if I offended Kepora, I might not have had a peaceful afternoon."
"I didn’t think of that. I used the Armor Charm to withstand Kepora’s attacks and squeeze through. It looks like you have a natural combat instinct."
In the midst of this praise, Liam noticed Hermione standing nearby, a look of admiration on her face. He felt a bit embarrassed because what he had said was a fabrication. The real reason was that during his time in the Commonwealth Wasteland, when enemies hid in buildings and direct attacks were too difficult, flanking and breaking through walls had become a standard tactic. So in the maze, Liam naturally tried to break through walls as well.
After a quick lunch, they returned to their carriage to shower. Liam and the others then hurried to the Transfiguration classroom. The Transfiguration class here was not much different from Hogwarts, even using similar textbooks. As a result, the afternoon’s Transfiguration class went smoothly.
The day quickly passed, and after completing their respective homework, the entire group of Hogwarts exchange students gathered with the two professors in the Common Room to discuss their impressions of Castrobrusso’s various courses.
The professors started the discussion. The first to speak was Professor Burn, who taught Care of Magical Creatures. He had high praise for the class: "There are many magical creatures here, and the types students can interact with are far more diverse than at our school. For example, today I saw the Baram, which look like giant jaguars but can be tamed as wizards’ guardians and have some ability to disrupt magic. I looked at their professor’s lesson plans, and they are all about these impressive creatures."
Next up was Professor Sprout, who similarly praised the variety of plants in the greenhouse and plantation. She also commended the extensive knowledge of the Herbology professor here.
The students' experiences varied, with the combat class being particularly popular. However, the other courses were largely similar to those at Hogwarts, with only local variations in content.
For example, Defense Against the Dark Arts here focused more on curses and curse-breaking, rather than defensive spells and Dark creatures as in Britain. Potions classes, on the other hand, emphasized the use of local ingredients. However, the teaching standards in several subjects were not as high as those at Hogwarts.
Worst of all, although the professors taught in English, they often mixed in Spanish words, making it even harder to follow the lessons.
Naturally, the Hogwarts exchange students faced some embarrassing moments due to the local teaching style. Professors treated everyone equally, and the exchange students had to complete the same assignments. Failing to meet the standards due to unfamiliarity was almost inevitable.
However, being top students at Hogwarts, they quickly adjusted and managed to keep up with the lessons.
The discussion lasted for several hours until the two professors decided it was too late and ordered everyone to bed. Despite the various challenges they faced, the Hogwarts representatives were more determined than ever. Their pride wouldn't allow them to back down.
Over the next week, the Hogwarts exchange students put in 120% effort and finally managed to keep up with the pace of the classes. They also got a taste of the unique charm of Castrobrusso.
In reality, every wizarding school in the world had its own specialties. Most valuable knowledge was publicly accessible, provided you had the eye to recognize it.
Unfortunately, most people lacked that discernment. For instance, during Harry Potter's fourth year at the Triwizard Tournament, the students from the other two schools never visited the Ravenclaw Common Room and thus never accessed its valuable library. In fact, the Ravenclaw Common Room welcomed all seekers of knowledge, as long as they entered Hogwarts with good intentions. This was a clear case of being surrounded by treasure without recognizing it.
Liam's treasure was the Emerald Dream. The last time he entered the dream, he thought he had hidden himself there using some means and felt relieved.
However, upon reflection the next day, he realized that the school's projection in the dream was essentially its domain. If the Emerald Dream could create such a domain, then it wouldn't be a place where someone like him could hide. This led him to conclude that his previous entry was allowed, otherwise, he would have been forcibly expelled.
So, after the Monday discussion, Liam quickly returned to his bed and entered the Emerald Dream to try and re-enter Castrobrusso's projection, hoping to communicate with the people there and gain some guidance.
