Chapter 151: You Won't Die 【45】
Chapter 151: You Won't Die 【45】
"It seems your constitution is rather unique." Kanjiro looked at Sara and said slowly, "Regular people would have collapsed long ago after being poisoned by my toxins, yet you're still standing."
Sara, the Queen of Loulan, had inherited a special constitution from her mother that allowed her to sense and manipulate the power of the dragon veins. However, with the disappearance of the dragon vein's energy, her powers had weakened significantly, and the moves she could execute now were mostly those she had learned from Kakashi.
Clang!!
The kunai in her hand deflected another strike from the puppet.
Sara stumbled, feeling a sudden numbness in her right leg that made it difficult to stand. She nearly fell to the ground.
Even though she managed to stay upright, her right arm felt almost paralyzed.
"Hmph!"
Seeing this, Kanjiro coldly huffed. With a slight tremble of his fingers, he manipulated the chakra threads controlling the puppet, causing it to shoot out a spear-like scorpion tail aimed directly at Sara's chest.
In her paralyzed state, Sara couldn't dodge this attack.
Puchi!!
The spear pierced her body, and blood sprayed out.
"Cough..."
Sara coughed up a mouthful of blood, and a trace of bewilderment flashed in her eyes. Instead of looking at Kanjiro, she turned her head with difficulty and gazed toward the tall tower in the center of Loulan.
In the end, she hadn't been able to wait for him, had she? But...
Just as her vision was about to fade into darkness, she saw a dark figure burst out from the top of that tower. After a brief pause, the figure rushed toward them.
"That's..."
Sara's dull eyes suddenly shone with new life.
A flash of silver light, like lightning, instantly shattered the scorpion puppet Kanjiro was controlling into countless fragments.
Swish!!
Feng Ye appeared not far away, holding Sara in his arms. He slowly lowered her to the ground and asked, "How did you end up like this? Why were you fighting a ninja?"
Sara coughed and, ignoring Feng Ye's question, looked at him with bright eyes as if in her final moments, and said, "You're back..."
Indeed, her instincts had been correct. Feng Ye had returned.
Although she felt some regret, being able to see Feng Ye one last time in her final moments made her feel that the time she had spent guarding the dragon vein every day for the past two years had been worth it.
"Mhm."
Feng Ye nodded and glanced at Sara's chest wound, a trace of apology flashing in his eyes. If he hadn't been in the tall tower researching his new abilities and had come out earlier, perhaps Sara wouldn't have had to endure such a blow.
However, it seemed like Sara had been poisoned and probably couldn't feel any pain.
"Just in time..."
"I never thought that I, the fastest ninja in the ninja world, would almost become like the late Namikaze Minato, always a step too late. But fortunately, I made it in time."
If he had been any later, resurrecting Sara would have been a troublesome affair.
Sara could barely hear Feng Ye's last words as her vision blurred, and the world gradually darkened. Her consciousness began to fade.
But...
Just at that moment, Feng Ye raised his hand, pulled out the spear that had pierced Sara's chest, snapped his fingers, and unleashed an invisible light barrier. Then, he placed his other hand on Sara's wound.
"Regression."
As his palm made contact, Feng Ye uttered a word.
Immediately after...
A strange light blossomed, pulling Sara's blurred consciousness back. Her blurred vision cleared once more, and she saw the blood that had flowed out transform into red blood beads that rushed back toward her.
Finally, when Feng Ye lifted his hand, the wound had completely vanished.
"You won't die because I'm back," Feng Ye said with a slight smile. He stood up, turned his head towards the Sunagakure ninjas battling Loulan's guards in the distance, and the stiffened Kanjiro standing by.
Kanjiro was frozen in place, his entire body seemingly turned to stone as he stared at Feng Ye. Cold sweat dripped from his forehead, leaving streaks on his painted face.
"You... who are you...?" Kanjiro asked, his eyes filled with disbelief.
"Wasn't that person supposed to be dead?! Why?!" Kanjiro couldn't believe that the person before him was the same Silver Flash who had struck fear into the entire ninja world two years ago. But the speed he had just displayed and the bizarre means by which he had saved Sara were definitely not something an ordinary person could accomplish.
"It seems a lot has happened in the ninja world during the two years I was away," Feng Ye said, his gaze drifting past Kanjiro as if speaking to himself. "Or perhaps, according to my memories, Loulan was destroyed by the war..."
In the next instant, Feng Ye's figure vanished, only to reappear directly in front of Kanjiro. With his fingers clasped together, Feng Ye's hand, wrapped in lightning, pierced straight through Kanjiro's chest!
Swish!!
Blood gushed from Kanjiro's back.
"You..." Kanjiro's eyes widened with fear and shock.
Such speed! Such lightning-style jutsu! This was undoubtedly the same Silver Flash who had killed the Third Raikage and Jiraiya two years ago! And he wasn't dead?!
Feng Ye pulled out his arm, ignoring the falling Kanjiro.
"Hiding here in Loulan for two years?" Kanjiro spat out a mouthful of blood as darkness crept into his vision.
He didn't understand why Feng Ye had stayed hidden for two years, leading the ninja world to believe he was dead, but the one thing he knew for certain was that the name Silver Flash had not faded!
Sooner or later, the ninja world would once again...
...be terrified by that name!
Feng Ye turned his gaze towards the other ongoing battles and, in a flash, became a silver streak of lightning, zipping across the battlefield. Wherever he went, blood splattered as he slew the invading Sunagakure ninjas.
In an instant, all the attacking Sunagakure ninjas lay dead, felled by Feng Ye.
Sara had already gotten to her feet. She dazedly touched her chest, slowly coming back to her senses, and her heart filled with indescribable joy—the joy of surviving a near-death experience!
She couldn't believe that Feng Ye had healed such a fatal wound!
Standing there, she watched the figure flashing across the battlefield, leaving a trail of blood in his wake as he swiftly eliminated the Sunagakure ninjas. Her eyes sparkled with brilliant light.
Whoosh!
After slaying the last of the Sunagakure ninjas, Feng Ye returned to where he had been standing before.
"I'm sorry," Feng Ye said apologetically to Sara, who had fully recovered. "I came back a little late, causing you to suffer."
"No..." Sara shook her head.
She took a step forward, walked up to Feng Ye, and threw her arms around him in a tight embrace, tears of joy glistening in the corners of her eyes.
