Chapter 151: Indigenous Creatures of the Borderlands, Kill the Divine Special Creature!
Chapter 151: Indigenous Creatures of the Borderlands, Kill the Divine Special Creature!
"Reflection Integration?"
Dr. Shen asked, puzzled.
Dr. Shen explained with a grim expression, "It's a strange phenomenon that occurs when a top-ten artifact, 'GOD-005: Mirror World,' interacts with the unique products of the borderlands."
"The 'GOD-005: Mirror World' reflects reality and extends infinite possibilities. If we liken the present world to a mirror, then the Mirror World is the other side of the mirror, reflecting it."
"When two mirrors face each other, they create infinite reflections... In other words, during this mutual reflection, infinite illusory worlds are born, and each illusory world symbolizes a possibility of the present world."
"Occasionally, the Mirror World pulls people from the present world into these illusory worlds, and only by finding the 'unreal' flaws in the illusory world can one escape and return to the present."
He quickly explained the abilities of GOD-005 and then continued, "As you know, the borderlands are the final product of the overlap between this world and the otherworld, a fusion of parts from both worlds."
"Reflection Integration occurs when the Mirror World inserts itself into this process, first reflecting an image of the borderlands and then integrating that image into the borderlands themselves."
"The borderlands are already a'sub-world' that has appeared out of thin air, and its very nature includes a mystical aspect. It has a high degree of compatibility with the illusory world, making the fusion incredibly simple..."
"After this phenomenon occurs, the borderlands undergo completely unpredictable changes. The most important thing is that the borderlands, after reflection integration, inherit the characteristics of the illusory world, and one cannot escape without finding the flaw."
"And the flaw of the borderlands is its core."
"A borderland without a core is as good as 'dead,' and it will not change. Therefore, only a borderland with its core intact can be reflected and integrated by the Mirror World."
"And the core of the 'Roaring Waterfall' borderland... is most likely that pure-blooded dragon species."
Shan Zhen scratched his head beside him and said, "Can you just give us the conclusion? I don't understand any of this."
Dr. Shen glanced at him and said slowly, "In simple terms, this borderland is no longer what we observed before. We don't know what changes will occur."
"And if Xue Jing wants to get out of there... he must find the 'flaw,' which is the core. If the core is the pure-blooded dragon species... he must kill that dragon, destroy its core organ."
"The most serious problem is that he doesn't know this information yet, and we can't contact him at the moment."
...
In a lush grassland, Xue Jing stood, dressed in black tactical gear and carrying a large backpack.
In his hand, he held a palm-sized tablet, its screen displaying a map.
"Hmm? Weren't there supposed to be GPS locators at the exit? Why can't I see any?"
Xue Jing was puzzled.
"It's said that there are already two monitors in place, but they're not showing up either... What's going on?"
He was baffled.
"Never mind, maybe the signal isn't great here."
Xue Jing put the tablet back into his bag and looked around.
"So this is the borderland... Amazing. Outside, the weather is apocalyptic, but step inside, and it's a whole new world—a true paradise."
He gazed at the endless fertile grasslands, the clean streams in the distance, and the cloudless clear sky, feeling a little dazed.
Taking off his anti-toxic mask, he breathed in the fresh air, and a sense of pleasure washed over him.
After a moment's thought, he took out a cylindrical 'monitor' from his backpack and pressed a hidden button on it.
Eight mechanical claws extended from the cylinder's lower end.
Xue Jing pointed the mechanical claws downward and placed the monitor on the grass.
Immediately, the monitor began to click and clack, its mechanical limbs digging into the ground like a spider with uncanny speed. It quickly dug a small hole just large enough to accommodate its body, then proceeded to burrow itself underground, leaving only a small portion of its head exposed.
Xue Jing then took out a tablet computer from his backpack and brought up the map.
Unlike before, when the map was empty, it now displayed a white dot, with a long bar extending from it, spinning around in circles like a sonar radar.
"That's odd... The GPS system seems fine, and the signal is normal, but why can't I locate the exit or the other two monitors?"
Xue Jing was perplexed.
"Never mind, I'll figure it out later."
Xue Jing stretched lazily, not overly concerned about the situation.
His formidable strength compensated for any inner vulnerabilities. With the power he currently possessed, even in the face of unexpected developments like this, he remained psychologically unaffected.
"Time to get to work."
He undid the backpack on his shoulders, snapped his fingers, and black energy was drawn from the shadows beneath his feet. It coalesced into a large crow, formed from black flames.
Xue Jing handed his backpack to the crow, which grasped it with its claws, and then set off in a randomly chosen direction.
...
Half an hour later, Xue Jing found himself in a forest.
"The color of this tree is a bit odd. Should I try to make a contract with it...?"
He munched on a compressed biscuit as he curiously examined the tree before him, its body a pale blue, yet its leaves a fiery red.
"Graaaooohhh!!!"
"Ahhh!!!"
Suddenly, a beastly roar echoed from the depths of the forest, followed by an unmistakable human scream.
Xue Jing's eyes narrowed, and after a moment's thought, he began to walk in the direction of the sounds.
Beyond a few clusters of bushes, a clearing came into view.
In the clearing stood a bizarre monster, its body covered in odd lumps. Its head was disproportionately large compared to its body, and its massive maw, filled with uneven fangs, could almost reach its waist. It resembled a lamprey.
The beast drooled as it stood before a girl with tanned skin, wearing scant clothing, her eyes filled with terror.
"A native human?"
Xue Jing was about to lend a helping hand and perhaps communicate with this native when—
"Alindaluqa, Tamogu!"
The girl pointed at the monster.
Xue Jing's earpiece translated the foreign language, conveying the meaning of the girl's words.
["My Daruka, attack!"]
As she spoke, a small, yellow monkey scurried out from behind the girl and charged at the monster.
It was promptly swatted down and turned into a bloody mess.
Xue Jing: "..."
Listening to the girl's incredulous scream, Xue Jing was speechless.
So, you thought you could pull off something impressive, but it was just a weak little monkey?
Xue Jing shook his head, pointed his hand at the monster, and snapped his fingers.
From the shadows within the forest, a dense black energy was extracted and condensed into countless sharp, black spears that hurtled towards the monster.
"Chi! Chi! Chi! Chi!"
The countless shadow-flame spears pierced the monster, turning it into a porcupine-like mass of spikes, causing it to let out a pained roar.
Xue Jing clenched his hand into a fist and whispered, "Bloom."
The spears embedded in the monster's body instantly blossomed like lotuses, sending countless black thorns piercing through its body. Dark red blood splattered everywhere.
The monster's roar abruptly ceased.
The girl stood there, stunned, her beautiful eyes vacant.
Xue Jing approached her unhurriedly, his instincts prompting him to open the panel to check something.
[Kill a divine special creature, Divinity +12]
Hmm?
