Chapter 151: Giants Don't Exist in Hogwarts
Chapter 151: Giants Don't Exist in Hogwarts
On Saturday, Kyle arrived at the Great Hall early.
He had skipped the night tour the previous day, opting to go to bed right after dinner and sleep until dawn. As a result, he felt incredibly refreshed.
Breakfast consisted of sausages, corn chowder, and a large platter of roasted potatoes.
Kyle was halfway through his meal when the others arrived.
"Looks like you had a good rest last night," Cedric said as he sat down across from Kyle. "No more strange dreams?"
Kyle smiled and replied, "No, I slept like a log until morning."
"That's good," Cedric said, picking up a roasted potato and starting to peel it. "By the way, I told Professor Trelawney about your situation yesterday. Do you want to know what she said?"
Kyle didn't hesitate and shook his head immediately. "Never mind, I've heard that her prophecies never lead to anything good."
"Well, you're right about that," Cedric nodded.
According to Professor Trelawney, Kyle would have a series of dreams for seven consecutive days, then end up in the hospital wing due to a mental breakdown. After being discharged, he would encounter a giant, only to be sent back to the hospital by the giant's club.
In short, it seemed like a string of bad luck.
However, it turned out that Professor Trelawney was wrong from the very beginning, and the rest of her prediction was even more absurd.
Giants in the castle... that was simply impossible! If there were giants capable of breaking into Hogwarts, he would eat this entire platter of roasted potatoes right in front of everyone.
Cedric rubbed his forehead in frustration.
It seemed that Professor Trelawney was indeed a fraud, just as others had said. He regretted listening to the Weasley brothers and choosing Divination as an elective.
Wasn't Numerical Divination a better option? But it was too late now; even if he wanted to change his elective, he would have to wait until the next semester.
Cedric sighed.
At that moment, Fred and George arrived, but they didn't look well-rested. Both of them seemed half-asleep.
Although they had experienced sleep deprivation before due to their night tours, today was different.
Professor McGonagall had rejected their request to change electives, only allowing them to add Ancient Runes as an additional class.
With three electives, every day was a busy one for them.
The previous day, they had stayed up until dawn working on their Ancient Runes homework.
"Merlin's beard, you two are doing your homework in advance?!" Cedric exclaimed, startled. He shook his hand, and the potato he had just peeled fell to the ground, rolling under the table.
"Are you two for real? Who drank Polyjuice Potion?" Kyle also looked at Fred and George suspiciously and asked, "What do you think of Percy?"
George frowned and said with some displeasure, "Hey, of course, we're real."
"By the way, Percy is a tattletale and a big idiot," Fred added.
"Well, he's real," Cedric agreed.
Now Kyle was even more confused. He asked in bewilderment, "Then why are you doing your homework in advance?!"
"For our dreams!" Fred said solemnly. "You're right, Ancient Runes is indeed helpful for researching magical items. We've already come up with two great ideas during class."
"But... it's too difficult," George complained, making a bitter face. "The characters change a lot, and different combinations represent different meanings. No wonder Percy spent the entire summer studying them."
Cedric deeply agreed with this, as he had also chosen Ancient Runes as an elective. Fred and George were not joking; it was indeed challenging.
"Never mind, let's talk about something else." Fred yawned. "Kyle, have you decided to join the Quidditch team?"
"Yes," Kyle replied. "I spoke to Harris a few days ago, and I'll be participating in the final tryouts next week."
"What about you guys? Have you chosen a new captain and Seeker?"
"Oliver Wood is the captain. He's the most suitable choice."
"But we haven't found a Seeker yet."
Kyle noticed that Fred and George's expressions had turned even gloomier.
Finding an excellent Seeker was no less challenging than mastering Ancient Runes.
Numerous students had signed up, but not a single one was qualified. Many couldn't even see the Golden Snitch under their eyelids.
If Gryffindor were to field such players, they would be competing with Ravenclaw for third place.
In recent days, Wood had been so worried that he was losing hair, and his hairline was already showing signs of receding at such a young age.

Fred and George, deep in concern, quickly finished their breakfast and dragged their weary bodies towards the Quidditch pitch.
Today, they were continuing the Seeker tryouts, not expecting to find someone on par with Cedric, but just hoping for someone competent in all aspects.
Professor McGonagall would also be present, as she was equally invested in this matter.
Following Professor McGonagall's advice, Lee Jordan had temporarily withdrawn his application for the commentator role.
If they couldn't find a suitable candidate in the end, he would have to step up.
Between a Seeker and a commentator, Lee Jordan knew which one was more crucial.
After they left, Cedric suddenly raised his eyebrows at Kyle and whispered, "Looks like Hufflepuff has a high chance of winning the championship two years in a row."
"Not necessarily," Kyle thought for a moment and replied. "Maybe they'll find a Seeker in a few days."
"It doesn't matter," Cedric said confidently. "No matter who they have, even if they bring Charlie back, I'm confident I'll be the first to catch the Golden Snitch."
Kyle laughed.
Cedric was usually modest in other aspects, but when it came to Quidditch, he transformed into a different person, unyielding to anyone.
Of course, this was a good thing.
On the first weekend of the new school year, Kyle decided to visit Hagrid's hut.
Conna had wanted to come along, but she was taken away by Professor Snape, who had suddenly appeared from somewhere.
As for Cedric, he was heading to the Quidditch pitch, just like the Weasley brothers.
All four house teams would be conducting tryouts over the next two days, and he planned to gather some intelligence and see if there were any standout newcomers this year.
For instance, Autumn had also signed up for the Quidditch team this year, and she had chosen the Seeker position.
Cedric wasn't sure about her abilities, but he was quite excited about it.
Last year's Ravenclaw team had been terrible, acting like a free point giveaway. Whoever played against them could easily score a few goals, and the matches felt more like a chore, lacking any passion.
If Ravenclaw had a reliable Seeker this year, the matches would become more interesting.
As for the possibility of losing to them... Cedric had never even considered it.
Hufflepuff had been the champions last year, and with Kyle on their team this year, they could only become stronger.
