Chapter 151: Crushing the Competition
Chapter 151: Crushing the Competition (Monthly Vote Appeal)
Chen Li watched in disbelief as Lin Qi’s score surged past 1,042 in under thirty seconds, jumping from 842.
He understood exactly what this meant—Lin Qi had just slain two Level-3 Disaster Beasts back-to-back in an impossibly short time.
With his total now breaking 1,000 points, Lin Qi had left everyone else far behind.
Chen Li had barely survived killing a single Grayspine Wolf. There was no way he could catch up now.
“I’m an S-Rank Genius! The Abyssal Maw Martial Arts Gym’s headquarters personally certified me!”
“How could I be crushed so thoroughly by Lin Qi? How did he do it?”
Staggering from shock, Chen Li wandered aimlessly through Sector 2, his mind numb from the crushing defeat.
“Beep! Beep! Beep!!”
After what felt like hours, his Smartwatch blared an alarm—the signal that the survival training had officially ended.
No further kills would earn points.
Suddenly, a thick, metallic scent of blood wafted over from the distance.
Chen Li’s nose twitched. He looked up.
Through the swirling yellow sand, a figure sat atop two massive corpses—Grayspine Wolves, their lifeless bodies sprawled beside two more. Blood pooled across the cracked concrete.
The figure wore a black tactical suit, his broad shoulders bearing a bloodied long spear. A palpable aura of slaughter radiated from him.
Chen Li quickened his pace, squinting as he approached. His eyes widened.
It was Lin Qi.
Lin Qi glanced up, his sharp, cold face locking onto Chen Li. “You disappointed me,” he said flatly.
“Is this really your limit? You’ve clearly exhausted yourself.”
The training’s outcome was settled.
Nearby, Zhou Xi Yin stood frozen, her mind blank.
Chen Li swallowed hard. “You… killed all these?”
“How?”
Lin Qi tilted his head, puzzled. “What do you mean how? They’re just Grayspine Wolves—Level-3 beasts. I killed them normally.”
He slung his spear over his shoulder. “Training’s over. Let’s head back.”
Minutes later, Lin Qi returned to the supply point, slipping his black Gravity Ring back onto his wrist.
Behind him, Chen Li and Zhou Xi Yin gawked.
“You fought the whole time wearing a Gravity Ring?!” Chen Li blurted, pointing.
“How heavy is each one?”
Lin Qi chugged an entire bottle of Energy Brew, his weary body slowly revitalizing. “Fifty pounds each.”
“So… two hundred pounds total?!” Chen Li fell silent.
Two hundred pounds of resistance over hours of relentless combat—its sheer physical toll was unimaginable.
Zhou Xi Yin’s last shred of competitiveness vanished. They weren’t even in the same league anymore.
“Boom!!”
A shadow darkened the sky as a sleek, black Skybreaker Craft descended to evacuate them from Ruin Town.
---
Back in Ruin Town’s base, the atmosphere buzzed with exhaustion.
The entire settlement’s Disaster Beasts were nearly eradicated, leaving bloodstained streets and weary survivors sprawled on the ground.
In the ruins, Wang Qiufeng leaned against a wall, staring at his 600-point score. Lin Qi’s 1,000+ points felt surreal.
“How… did he do it?” he muttered. “Guess I lost after all.”
---
Outside another supply point, Guo Heng sat on the cracked pavement, his trembling fingers pressing the rescue beacon. The Points Leaderboard flickered to life.
Seeing Lin Qi’s name at the top, he grinned. “Knew you’d dominate, Brother.”
But when his eyes landed on the 1,000-point mark, his jaw dropped.
---
In another corner of the ruins, Jiang Tao slumped against a wall, too drained to move.
“Finally over… Wearing a 200-pound Gravity Ring all that time… Brother Qi’s a monster,” he muttered, checking his own score.
The leaderboard confirmed Lin Qi’s 1,042 points.
“More than 500 ahead of me? Is he even human?!”
---
The command center erupted in chaos.
“Soloing three Grayspine Wolves? Unbelievable!”
“1,042 points! The previous record was 642—Lin Qi shattered it by 400!”
“Don’t forget, he did this with a Gravity Ring. Imagine his true potential without it!”
“He’s the dark horse of Cang Province this year—S-rank in Vital Energy, spear techniques, body cultivation, and mental fortitude. A top-tier prodigy!”
“Recruit him to Minghai Martial Institute at any cost!” ordered a blue-uniformed woman.
“Understood!” her aide nodded.
---
At Shanyu Martial Academy’s command post, a middle-aged leader clenched his jaw. “Contact their liaison immediately. Lin Qi must join us.”
His subordinate saluted. “Yes, sir.”
---
Yuan Ji, clad in military green, gripped his console, staring at the screen’s cold, bloodstained figure.
“A rare combat genius. Exactly what the Imperial Military needs. Even if the odds are slim, we must try.”
His aide nodded. “Leave it to me.”
---
At Azure Firmament Martial Academy’s sector, a plump-faced woman bounced excitedly. “Dean! Lin Qi’s incredible! He’s joining our Sixth Institute!”
Headmaster Big Ear waved her off, massaging his earlobe in thought.
“Quiet! Let me think.”
Staring at Lin Qi’s profile, he muttered, “Xiao Wan and Wen Rui weren’t exaggerating. He’s even better than they claimed.”
“This is my chance. The recruitment war starts now.”
---
Back at Ruin Town’s base, the air buzzed with blood and fatigue.
Skybreaker Crafts ferried students back, their clothes soaked in sweat and gore.
A group clustered near the plaza, exchanging stunned whispers.
“Thought Chen Li’s 758 points had the lead locked…”
“Who’d expect Lin Qi to storm past with 1,042? How many beasts did he kill?”
A black Skybreaker Craft touched down, its thrusters roaring as dust swirled.
