Chapter 150: Full-Scale Attack
Chapter 150: Full-Scale Attack
Although it was only a few hundred meters from the inn to the place where the Fist Lion gang was staying, Chen Chuan and Hu Xian decided to drive there, as one could never be too careful.
Seated in the car, Chen Chuan noticed another vehicle trailing them from a distance, its occupants hidden from view. However, they weren't trying to hide, so he assumed they were also part of their group.
Hu Xian gripped the steering wheel, slowly driving forward while keeping an eye on their surroundings. "I want to tell you something," she said, "although the assessment team won't interfere with how you conduct the assessment, and they can't offer help proactively, things can be flexible. If there's any danger, you can always call on us for help."
Chen Chuan, sitting in the back seat, asked, "Wouldn't that be like giving up on the assessment voluntarily?"
"That's right, but you should weigh the importance of your life against other concerns."
Chen Chuan nodded and said, "Thank you, Sister Hu."
Hu Xian replied, "Sure, Brother Chen. Since you called me Sister Hu, I'll definitely watch your back if there's any danger. This time, I'll have Lao Wan accompany you. As the buyer, you need someone with you to show your status. Those dog-eyed, condescending guys from the Fist Lion gang might not take you seriously otherwise."
"Okay," Chen Chuan agreed.
He picked up his water bottle, took a sip, and continued drinking. Hu Xian found it amusing, thinking he was nervous, "Hey, if you're going to negotiate, don't drink too much water."
Chen Chuan didn't respond but continued drinking.
The car stopped about fifty meters away from the Fist Lion gang's residence. Hu Xian said, "We're here. It's not a good idea to go any further. Hey, do you want me to come in with you?"
"No need, thank you, Sister Hu," Chen Chuan replied.
He opened the door, stepped out, and after a quick exchange with Hu Xian, he slung the Xuejun Blade across his back and walked towards the four-story building ahead. Lao Wan also got out of the car, nodded at Hu Xian, and silently followed Chen Chuan.
Hu Xian watched them walk away, then glanced at the water bottle on the back seat, which seemed to be empty. She was surprised and secretly laughed to herself. After drinking so much water, he shouldn't be worried about... Wait, she furrowed her brows, sensing something amiss. Looking ahead, she wondered if Chen Chuan was up to something.
By now, Chen Chuan had reached the entrance, armed only with his Martial Spear Gun and the Xuejun Blade.
The two henchmen guarding the door stepped aside and said, "Please come in, Mr. Chen."
They didn't ask him to disarm, which was understandable in the Chaos Region, even on the outskirts. Asking someone to do business on their turf without weapons was like sending them to their death; no one would agree to that.
At this moment, Bee Woman Ran Xiaoli, the only female present, greeted them. She wore a red slit skirt, her lips painted with vibrant lipstick. As the sole female representative, she was there to save face for the buyer and avoid an overly aggressive atmosphere.
Upon seeing Chen Chuan, she touched her painted lips with her colorful fingernails and gave him a coquettish look. "This way, Mr. Chen."
Chen Chuan followed her into the building, which was quite spacious. The first floor had been transformed into a grand hall, with a chandelier hanging above and several large sofas arranged around the central area, leaving a large open space in the middle, presumably for a later demonstration.
He spotted a tall, dark-skinned man with a head full of small braids, surrounded by eight henchmen. Bee Woman Ran Xiaoli approached Chen Chuan and whispered something to him before standing by his side. This man was likely the Fist Lion himself.
Chen Chuan could sense the man's breathing rhythm, which was incredibly rhythmic, indicative of martial arts training. His skill level was evident, and his muscles were tensed, ready to burst into action at any moment. His heavy frame seemed to sink into the sofa, giving a sense of his substantial weight.
While no Bio Armor was visible on his exposed muscles, the hard, embedded feel suggested it was beneath the skin, a more advanced technology than the Bio Armor used by Scarface's group.
Lao Wan, standing behind Chen Chuan, grew alert, his hand hovering near his weapon. Despite the Fist Lion's relaxed and casual demeanor, there was a hint of madness in his eyes, giving off a sense that he might attack at any moment.
The Fist Lion, upon seeing Chen Chuan and Lao Wan enter, smiled and said, "You must be the buyer introduced by Fox Fairy? What should I call you?"
Chen Chuan casually scanned the surroundings before replying, "My name is Chen."
"Mr. Chen, it's a pleasure to meet you. Please, have a seat," the Fist Lion said politely, but he remained seated.
He didn't underestimate Chen Chuan due to his youth; young people with substantial wealth often had powerful backers. In fact, the reason he had to flee was because he had crossed paths with such a young man.
However, if he didn't show strength, the other party might think he was desperate to sell, making it difficult to negotiate a good price. Moreover, since they had proactively sought him out and he wasn't the only buyer, there was no need to lower his stance.
Two henchmen moved to stand behind Chen Chuan, while the others spread out to his left and right, each holding a gun, ready to fire at any moment.
Chen Chuan glanced at the corner, where Tuo Qi, the fourth-in-command, stood with his back to another henchman. One held a double-barreled gun, while the other had a sword, both exuding danger.
Following the hand gesture of Fist Lion, Chen Chuan arrived at a sofa slightly to the left of the man, handing over the Xuejun Sword to Old Wan beside him. He sat down on it and glanced at the empty sofa opposite him. "What's the matter? Are there other guests today?" he asked.
Fist Lion spread his hands and said, "It's really unfortunate. When you asked me about the goods, I was also negotiating with another buyer. In business, we should respect the order of arrival, right? But we also have to give Fox Fairy some face, so we still invited Mr. Chen."
"It's not mine anymore," Bee Woman said in a soft and alluring tone. "These past few days, I've been rushing to complete the boss's task, wanting to sell the goods as soon as possible. If I had known there would be a buyer like Mr. Chen, why would we go far when there's a closer option?"
Leaning back on the sofa cushion, Chen Chuan said, "No need for idle chatter. Since Mr. Fist Lion knows why I'm here, can I take a look at the goods?"
Fist Lion grinned and said, "It's not really appropriate to do it now. It's better to wait for everyone to arrive before we proceed. This way, it's fairer to both of you. In our line of work, I also value integrity."
Chen Chuan remained silent, and Old Wan, standing beside him, spoke up, "How much longer do we need to wait? Mr. Chen's time is precious. He doesn't have the leisure to waste here."
Fist Lion glanced at Bee Woman and said, "You go and see why they're not here yet." The time he had set was almost upon them when Chen Chuan arrived, but the other party hadn't shown up yet, which made him a little unhappy, feeling that they were deliberately keeping him waiting.
Bee Woman left the room.
Fist Lion looked around at the people nearby and cursed, "Don't you have any sense? Serve Mr. Chen some tea."
"No need," Chen Chuan said. "I only drink the tea I brought with me." He waved to Old Wan, and when the latter bent down, he instructed, "Go and get my tea leaves."
Old Wan looked at him intently, placed the Xuejun Sword on the backrest of the sofa, nodded slightly, and turned to leave.
Fist Lion's demeanor made him smirk. He was used to dealing with rich heirs like this, but as long as there was money to be made, he could tolerate it. Besides, he was just being polite, and where would he find good tea here anyway?
Bee Woman soon returned and whispered something to Fist Lion before turning to Chen Chuan with a smile. "Mr. Chen, the other guest is on their way here and will be here in about five minutes. Please wait a little longer, sir."
Chen Chuan nodded and said, "Five minutes? That's more than enough."
"What do you mean, Mr. Chen?" Bee Woman maintained her smile, but she was perplexed by his words.
Fist Lion instinctively sensed something amiss, but he couldn't pinpoint the problem. Unconsciously, he straightened his body a little.
As Chen Chuan finished his sentence, he calmly raised his hand, gripping the hilt of the Xuejun Sword behind him. With a swift forward lean, he sprang forward, drawing the sword from its sheath in a swift motion and slashing it towards Fist Lion, who was five meters away!
In Chen Chuan's eyes, time seemed to slow down. His powerful mutated body pumped vigorously, circulating oxygen-rich and energy-filled blood to every part of his body.
Under his will, every tiny detail of his mutated body was fully mobilized, eventually merging into an overwhelmingly powerful force.
This force was transmitted to the Xuejun Sword, causing it to vibrate. A bright, crescent-shaped blade of light suddenly illuminated the hall, forcefully penetrating the hearts of everyone present!
Fist Lion's pupils dilated, and his nostrils flared. At that moment, his thoughts raced as he tried to move his body to dodge or block the attack. But his body felt as heavy as a thousand pounds, and he couldn't react fast enough. He could only watch helplessly as the graceful blade of light approached him, eventually slicing downward.
The sharp tip of the blade sliced through his head, face, neck, torso, and other parts of his body, as if effortlessly cutting through paper. Finally, the tip of the blade came to a stop just an inch above the ground.
Chen Chuan maintained his slashing posture, stepping forward with one foot and placing his other hand behind him. The hand holding the sword rested at his ankle, the blade almost parallel to the ground, and his gaze fixed firmly ahead.
In a 66-cycle version, without a single mistake!
Fist Lion sat rigidly, appearing unharmed on the surface. He maintained his raised hand to block the attack, but immediately, a straight, crimson line appeared on his face and torso, and blood seeped out from it. His body, sliced in half, slowly slid apart on both sides.
As the two halves separated, one could see that the internal organs and various implants were divided in a perfectly equal manner, like a dissected specimen in a glass cabinet. Tissue fluid, blood, and an unknown liquid flowed down together. His facial expression remained frozen at that moment, giving the illusion that he could still try to put himself back together.
The people in the living room were shocked by this scene, which had happened too quickly for them to react.
Fist Lion's body, with its bullet-resistant implants, flesh-corroding glands, and intimidating martial power, proved useless throughout the entire process.
Chen Chuan's speed in that instant had surpassed Fist Lion's reaction limit. Although it seemed like only a fraction faster, that fraction was the difference between life and death!
"He killed the boss!!"
The numerous henchmen finally snapped out of their shock and, amidst a chorus of angry roars, they angrily raised their guns, preparing to shoot at Chen Chuan.
Chen Chuan's focus was intense, his gaze unusually calm. As his second self merged, the movements of everyone around him seemed to slow down. He crouched slightly, and as he did, the bricks beneath his feet slowly cracked, revealing a network of fissures. Wisps of white vapor rose from his body as heat and moisture escaped.
With a swift twist of his wrist, he turned the blade outward, and with a powerful kick, his strength erupted. As the ground beneath him shattered, he spun, executing a whirlwind slash with the six-foot-long blade, its reach extended by his arm span, covering almost half the room. The four henchmen closest to him were instantly sliced in half, their severed limbs raining down like a macabre shower.
Suddenly, a sound came from behind him. Tuo Qi, crouched in the corner, simultaneously kicked off the wall, brandishing a knife and charging towards Chen Chuan. But to Chen Chuan, the attack seemed agonizingly slow. He simply stepped forward, following his momentum, not only dodging the bullet fired from the other side but also causing the attacker's knife to miss its mark.
Out of the corner of his eye, Chen Chuan spotted Bee Woman running towards the window, seemingly attempting to escape. However, he noticed a cloth-covered object there and immediately understood her intention—she was going to release the bio battle weapon!
Chen Chuan spun around, narrowly avoiding Tuo Qi. As the two bodies brushed past each other, one with a knife and the other with a drawn pistol aimed at Chen Chuan's head, his speed was astonishing. In the blink of an eye, he had passed them by, and the bullets fired at him struck the opposite wall.
Both heads spun from the impact, and as they flew through the air, their eyes met in a moment of mutual shock. But in that fleeting instant, they were both slashed by the Xuejun Blade and sent flying!
As Chen Chuan rushed towards Bee Woman, the seemingly empty wall beside him suddenly stirred. A figure, almost indistinguishable from the surroundings, burst from the side, wielding two short knives aimed at Chen Chuan's ribs.
Chen Chuan showed no surprise. He didn't even dodge or slow down; instead, the altered tissue within his body began to pulsate rhythmically.
The next moment, the two collided, and with a series of cracking sounds, the attacker was sent flying, smashing into the wall behind him. A wet, crunching sound followed, and the shattered flesh and blood stuck firmly to the wall.
Just then, Bee Woman's fingers reached the cloth-covered box. Beneath it lay the Tayana battle spider, temporarily dormant. With a specific external stimulus from its holder, it would awaken and kill any nearby targets that hadn't undergone a blood test!
Chen Chuan, focused on the scene, had been delayed by the previous obstruction. Though uninjured, his pace had slowed slightly, and he might not make it in time. He inhaled sharply, expanding his chest, and then, with a sudden roar, he unleashed a burst of energy!
A buzzing sound filled the air, and the windows from the first to the fourth floors all shook violently, shattering one after another. The armed henchmen outside staggered as if drunk, their heads heavy and feet unsteady.
Bee Woman let out a piercing scream, covering her ears. Blood seeped through her clenched fingers. Her heightened senses subjected her to an overwhelming stimulus, causing her vision to darken, her eyes rolling back, and her body collapsing to the ground.
On the street outside, Lao Wan had reached Hu Xian's car. The latter frowned and asked, "Why are you out here? Weren't you supposed to be with Chen Chuan?"
Lao Wan's voice was grave. "He seemed to be in control of the situation. I think he didn't want me to interfere, so he sent me out. You know the rules—I can't disturb a test candidate's examination and must respect their choices."
Hu Xian's heart skipped a beat at Lao Wan's words. She slammed her fist on the dashboard and exclaimed, "What's going on?" She couldn't understand why Chen Chuan, usually so composed and cautious, had made such an impulsive decision. She hoped this wasn't another trip to collect his body.
Hu Xian's voice turned stern. "Lao Wan, get your gun ready."
Lao Wan nodded.
Hu Xian's gaze turned solemn as she surveyed the scene. If things went awry, she'd rush in to save him. Damn the rules! She wouldn't stand by and watch a young man's life end before her eyes!
But just then, a thunderous roar reverberated through the street, as if a lightning bolt had struck. The windows of the building ahead shattered.
Hu Xian's face paled. "Something's wrong! Follow me!"
She pushed open the car door, and the two rushed towards the building. Kicking the door open, they waited briefly before entering, covering each other as they rushed inside. But when they reached the hall and saw the scene before them, they couldn't help but pause.
Chen Chuan stood with his back to them, a long knife in hand, amidst a sea of corpses. Wisps of white vapor rose from his body as the cold wind blew through the broken windows, causing his chestnut-red scarf to flutter.
