Chapter 1498: The Final Lesson
Chapter 1498: The Final Lesson
The shocking news had left many bewildered and unsure of what to do next, not just the members of the Order of the Phoenix who had received the message, but also the members of the Defense Association who had just learned about the impending final battle against Voldemort from Albert. Like students facing their final exams, they felt the weight of the upcoming confrontation.
When a decisive battle loomed, people often fantasized about it, but when it actually arrived, most were left confused, terrified, and anxious.
To say that no one in the association was afraid would be a lie, but from the beginning, Albert had made it clear that even if someone wanted to back out, they wouldn't dare to voice it. From the moment they joined the Defense Association, they were swept up by the tides of history.
Hadn't they spent countless hours practicing with their wands and honing their combat skills precisely for moments like this, to stand alongside Harry Potter and face Voldemort and his Death Eaters?
In the headquarters of the Defense Association, Albert surveyed the room, his young witches and wizards hanging on to his every word. He repeated what he had said before.
"The time to face the unknown enemy is upon us. It's time to bring an end to this wizarding war."
"I know what you're worried about, but by taking the initiative, we increase our chances of victory by at least twenty percent."
"Most of you know me well enough to understand that I never undertake anything unless I'm confident of success."
Hearing this, the group relaxed somewhat. Albert was telling the truth; he was well-prepared, and he wouldn't be doing this if he didn't believe they could win.
"This time, we're going to put that enemy back in his coffin and nail it shut so he can't keep coming back."
Albert understood their feelings very well, which was why, after delivering this astonishing news, he didn't just turn and leave. Instead, he stayed to teach them one last lesson, to boost their morale and ease their anxiety, so they wouldn't burn themselves out before the battle even began.
"When the time comes, I'll distribute a bottle of Felix Felicis to each of you." Albert paused as the whispers in the room died down, then continued, "With that potion, you'll be more capable than most Aurors, easily crushing your enemies. Anyone who has taken Felix Felicis knows its power."
"So, your worries are completely unnecessary." Albert's voice was strong and confident. "Your enemies don't have your teamwork, your training, or your Felix Felicis. But—remember, your enemy is not this unknown dark wizard. Don't try to challenge him, as that is Harry Potter's task, and then mine. It's not your role."
These words were like a strong tonic for the group, dispelling the anxiety that had hung over the Defense Association.
"Now, let's take a look at who you'll be facing."
Albert waved his wand, conjuring a blackboard out of thin air, then pulled a stack of photos from his pocket and pinned one to the board.
"You should all recognize what's in this photo."
Albert tapped the photo with his wand. "Inferi, your old adversaries. I'm not sure if this enemy will have time to gather a large number of Inferi to besiege Hogwarts, but I'm confident you can handle these dark creatures."
"Dementors, another familiar foe." Albert pinned another photo to the board. "How many of us can cast a Patronus? Show of hands, please."
A large number of hands shot up, which was a relief to Albert.
"When we storm Hogwarts and begin our final plan, this enemy will undoubtedly summon a large number of Dementors to besiege the castle. It's crucial that you unite to repel them. I believe this won't be too difficult for you, as it would be hard to gather such a large number of Patronuses even across the whole of the British wizarding world."
Albert pinned another photo to the board, this time of a large and hideous eight-eyed spider.
"Descendants of Hagrid's little pets." Albert introduced them with a smile. "Now, these giant spiders have made their home in the Forbidden Forest and joined forces with our enemy."
"Will those spiders—I mean, the eight-eyed giants—also be participating in the final battle?" Angelina finally asked, unable to contain her curiosity.
"Yes, I believe they will make up for the fact that most of you didn't get a chance to venture into the Forbidden Forest."
No one found this funny. The eight-eyed giants were dangerous; they were rated as dangerous as fire-breathing dragons in 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them', and there were a lot of them.
"Don't worry, we're not the attackers, and we won't need to venture deep into the forest to fight them on their home turf." Albert offered reassurance. "If you've been paying attention to the spells I taught you for dealing with spiders, these giants are no more threatening than a bunch of red caps outside of their forest habitat."
Everyone breathed a sigh of relief, as they indeed knew spells to deal with these giant spiders.
"Werewolves."
Albert pinned another photo to the board, continuing his introduction.
"However, there's no need to worry. We won't be picking a full moon for our battle. During that time, werewolves are just ordinary humans, and even if you're bitten, you won't turn into a werewolf. You might just develop a preference for rare steak."
"Even if there are Dark Wizards among them, they can be taken down with regular spells. Just remember, on the battlefield, never show mercy to the enemy unless you want to be a liability and endanger your teammates."
"Taking them out would be a good thing. It would mean fewer cases of werewolf attacks in the wizarding world in the future." Kennilworthy Whisp understood Albert's implication and spelled it out for the group.
"Next up, we have this."
Albert pinned a photo of a giant to the board.
"Well-known to all, I think I don't need to introduce them further."
"These big guys have thick skin that can withstand many spells, unless you aim for their eyelids, but I don't recommend that."
Albert held up a finger, "If any of you are interested in becoming giant-killers, pay attention because this might be the only chance in your lifetime to earn that title."
The group was clearly intrigued by the prospect; it was something they could boast about for the rest of their lives.
"Giants have thick skin, but they're not the brightest," Albert tapped his head, "They love to wave around tree-like clubs, so the first thing you do when you encounter a giant is to take away or destroy their weapon."
A group of them started taking notes intently.
"If the Disarming Charm doesn't work, try the Reducto Curse, or even the Levitation Charm or the Floating Charm. A giant without a weapon is far less threatening."
"When you actually face a giant, you can use the Exploding Spell on their feet, make the floor slippery to trip them up, or use ropes to tie their legs. I recall we have Capturing Nets among our defensive items, which would be perfect for dealing with these giants."
"Most importantly, remember that there are only a limited number of giants, and even fewer will be able to breach the castle. So, don't be foolish enough to go giant-hunting on your own or expose yourself to unnecessary danger. Remember, working in teams will increase your chances of surviving this war."
