Chapter 1497: The Whereabouts of the Elder Wand
Chapter 1497: The Whereabouts of the Elder Wand
In the headquarters of the Order of the Phoenix, a circular table was filled with members deep in hushed discussions about the reason behind Kingsley Shacklebolt's hastily convened meeting—Lord Voldemort's mysterious visit to Nurmengard.
As Harry and his companions entered the room, the whispers ceased abruptly, and all eyes turned towards the trio, offering warm greetings and eagerly making space for them to join the gathering.
"Apologies for keeping you waiting," Harry mumbled, feeling a bit embarrassed as he realized that everyone had been awaiting his arrival. More often than not, he avoided attending these meetings, deeming them uninteresting and unnecessary. However, it seemed that Kingsley felt their presence was crucial for this particular discussion.
"We were just discussing the reason behind the mysterious visit of You-Know-Who to Nurmengard," Kingsley acknowledged with a nod towards Harry, Hermione, and Ron, inviting them to take their seats. "By the time Aurors from across Europe rushed to the wizarding prison, a fierce battle had already taken place. It appears that the negotiations between You-Know-Who and Grindelwald fell through, and their clash set Nurmengard ablaze, preventing many prisoners from escaping in time."
"When the Aurors arrived, they were confronted by a flock of terrified birds, indicating that very few dark wizards had actually survived the inferno," Kingsley continued. "This unexpected turn of events largely contributed to the Aurors' swift and decisive victory."
"Most of you here are already aware of these details," Kingsley acknowledged, "but what I want to discuss today is the reason behind You-Know-Who's visit to Nurmengard. So, let's return to the central question—what was he doing there?"
Kingsley paused, gesturing for everyone to remain quiet as he prepared to reveal more information.
"According to our sources within the Death Eaters, You-Know-Who was likely searching for the legendary wand—the Elder Wand, also known as the Death Stick."
At this revelation, Kingsley turned to regard Harry and his friends intently.
Feeling the weight of everyone's gaze, Harry knew he had to speak up. "The Death Stick that You-Know-Who seeks is most likely the ancient wand used by the eldest brother in 'The Tale of the Three Brothers.'"
However, his explanation was met with furrowed brows and skepticism around the room.
"There's no doubt that You-Know-Who is desperately seeking the Elder Wand to gain an advantage over Albert," Harry continued, understanding the group's reluctance to accept this fantastical explanation. "Moreover, not long ago, my wand established a strange connection with You-Know-Who's, causing him significant trouble. It's only natural that he would seek a powerful wand to resolve the issues that have been plaguing him."
"That's just a fairy tale," Mrs. Weasley interjected.
"As far as I know, You-Know-Who has indeed been searching for such a wand across Europe," Kingsley said softly. "Before attacking Nurmengard, he was looking for Gregorovitch, a wandmaker as renowned as Ollivander. Rumors suggest that Gregorovitch once possessed the Elder Wand, but he has been hidden away by Albert and Dumbledore for the time being."
A buzz of whispers filled the room at the mention of the famous wandmaker.
"Later, You-Know-Who's attention turned to Grindelwald, perhaps believing that the legendary Death Stick was in the possession of the previous Dark Lord," Kingsley added, startling the room into silence once more.
The implications of You-Know-Who obtaining the legendary wand were terrifying to contemplate.
"I've spoken to Anderson about this, and he assured me that we need not worry," Kingsley said, offering a small measure of comfort. "You-Know-Who is not the true master of the Elder Wand, and thus, he cannot unlock its full potential."
"So, has You-Know-Who obtained the Death Stick?" someone asked.
"I don't know," Kingsley admitted, shaking his head slightly as he looked at Harry.
"Albert isn't one to take unnecessary risks," Harry added, his own uncertainty tempered by a sense of calm.
"Well, let's turn our attention to another matter," Kingsley said, signaling for quiet once more. "Anderson mentioned that a final, decisive battle is approaching, and the time is ripe—perhaps in the very near future. He wants us to be prepared."
As soon as Kingsley finished speaking, an uproar filled the room.
No one had ever imagined that the final battle of the Wizarding War, which Albert had once mentioned, was actually approaching.
They were anxious and fearful, as none of them felt prepared for what was to come.
Everyone turned to look at Harry, Ron, and Hermione, seeking answers, but the trio seemed just as uncertain.
After the meeting, Harry, Ron, and Hermione returned to their room to discuss the impending final battle. However, Albert had kept his plans tightly under wraps, leaving them to suspect that it had something to do with Voldemort obtaining the "Death Stick."
But the three of them found it hard to believe that Voldemort could get his hands on the Elder Wand. After all, Albert would surely know where the Elder Wand was, and he would never allow the mysterious man to acquire such an all-conquering, invincible wand, especially if he intended to use it against Albert.
"Maybe the next time we meet, we can ask him about the wand's whereabouts," Ron suggested. "If we can harness the power of that wand, our chances of defeating the mysterious man will be much greater."
"I know where that wand is!" Harry suddenly exclaimed.
"Harry, do you know where the wand is hidden?"
Ron was stunned, looking at Harry with wide eyes, unable to believe what he had just heard.
"Hogwarts," Hermione murmured. "We should have thought of it sooner."
"The Elder Wand is hidden in Hogwarts?"
Ron's eyes darted between Harry and Hermione, seeking confirmation of what they were suggesting.
Ignoring the surprise on Ron's face, Harry continued with his own train of thought. "A long time ago, Gregorovitch had possessed the Elder Wand. I remember Mr. Ollivander mentioning it. So, the mysterious man had been searching for Gregorovitch all over Europe, but Albert had hidden him away, which led the mysterious man on a wild goose chase for a long time."
"But in reality, the Elder Wand is no longer in Gregorovitch's possession. It was taken by Grindelwald," Hermione added, exchanging a glance with Harry before continuing her own analysis. "Remember, Grindelwald's sign of the Deathly Hallows is the mark of the Deathly Hallows. It's clear that Grindelwald had an interest in the Deathly Hallows, and if Gregorovitch had been foolish enough to brag about unlocking the secrets of the Elder Wand, I wouldn't be surprised if Grindelwald came knocking on his door. Grindelwald used the power of the Elder Wand to become the most dangerous Dark Lord in history."
"Dumbledore eventually defeated Grindelwald and took the Elder Wand, becoming its true master," Ron said, his eyes wide with realization. "So, the Elder Wand is buried with Dumbledore?"
"Let's go to Hogwarts!" Ron exclaimed, turning to Harry with urgency. "We have to get the Elder Wand before the mysterious man does!"
"Dumbledore wouldn't want me to have it, and..." Harry trailed off, surprised by the conviction in his own voice.
"We must prevent the mysterious man from obtaining that unbeatable wand. Otherwise, who will be able to stand against him?" Ron pleaded, trying to convince Harry, but to no avail.
"Calm down, Ron," Harry said, trying to soothe his friend. "Even if we rushed there now, we'd be too late. The mysterious man has already figured out the wand's location, and do you really think Albert would let him take the Elder Wand?"
"You mean Albert has already taken the Elder Wand for himself?" Ron relaxed a little, knowing that this was exactly the kind of proactive move Albert would make.
"I don't know," Harry admitted, shaking his head slightly. "Even if the wand is still there, the mysterious man probably isn't its true master."
"What about Snape?" Ron asked, a mischievous glint in his eye. "Do you think the mysterious man will try to get rid of him?"
"It's not about Snape," Harry said, a realization dawning on him. "I suspect this is all a setup, a trap specifically designed for the mysterious man."
