Chapter 1496: The Approaching Opportunity
Chapter 1496: The Approaching Opportunity
In a temporary room at the headquarters of the Order of the Phoenix, Harry sat intimately with Ginny, holding hands and snuggling on an old sofa, whispering sweet nothings to each other.
Ever since he and Ginny confirmed their relationship, Harry had treasured their time together. Especially now, with the knowledge that Ginny was expecting, the weight of their limited time together hung heavy on their minds.
Ginny understood that Harry couldn't abandon his mission, and so they cherished every moment they had.
The sudden knock on the door shattered the cozy atmosphere in the room.
Soon, Hermione pushed the door open and entered, noting the resentful gazes of Harry and Ginny. She cleared her throat and explained, "I just received a message from Albert."
"What's the message?" Harry suddenly had a bad feeling.
"He asked me to tell you that our training with the Fiendfyre Curse has come to an end."
"What happened?"
Harry jumped up from the sofa, stunned, wondering if he had heard correctly.
"Why has the training with the Fiendfyre Curse been cut short?"
Harry was well aware of Albert's emphasis on the Fiendfyre Curse; otherwise, he wouldn't have spent so much time personally teaching them the curse and its counters.
Just as he was beginning to get a grasp on controlling the Fiendfyre, Albert was now telling him to stop the training.
This was a significant blow to Harry, not just because he had failed to master this powerful Dark Magic capable of destroying Horcruxes, but also because it signaled something else—and they weren't ready yet.
"Harry, listen to Hermione," Ginny said, reaching out to hold Harry's hand, trying to calm him down.
"No, Ginny, you don't understand... Albert insisted that we must master that Dark Magic... Something urgent must have happened to force him to move up the plan. This isn't a good sign."
A sense of foreboding lingered in Harry's mind, making him increasingly anxious.
The only silver lining was that they had already used the Felix Felicis potion, confirming that with the aid of the magic potion, they could temporarily master the Fiendfyre Curse in a short period.
But that wasn't the issue. The problem was that they were running out of time. The opportunity for their decisive battle had arrived sooner than expected.
In the past, they had often heard Albert mention this, but now that the moment was truly upon them, Harry couldn't bring himself to feel happy about it. They weren't prepared, and although they might never be truly ready, the current situation didn't bode well for them.
Whether it was for the people resisting Voldemort or for Harry himself, everything was happening too suddenly, catching them off guard.
Harry turned to look at Ginny, his eyes filled with apology and helplessness.
Despite his attempts to convince himself that he could face this calmly, he couldn't deny his feelings for Ginny, especially now that she was carrying his child. All of this made it impossible for him to detach himself from the fear of facing death.
Ron, who had been eavesdropping from outside the door, finally asked, "Did he say why?"
"No, Albert just said that we might need to be ready to invade Gringotts at any time." Hermione didn't hide the truth from Ginny, as everyone at the headquarters of the Order of the Phoenix knew that they had their eyes on something hidden in one of the vaults of Gringotts, and they intended to take action.
Knowing that the trio had important matters to discuss, Ginny took the initiative to leave. Before she went, she kissed Harry's cheek under Ron's watchful gaze.
"Invading Gringotts won't be easy," Ron said, frowning as he watched Ginny walk away.
"We've been planning this for a long time," Hermione said, noticing Ron's reaction.
"I know," Ron replied glumly. He had just started to make some progress with countering the Fiendfyre Curse, and now he was being told that it was time to act. He couldn't help but worry that he would become a burden to the team.
Moreover, the urgency of this mission and the fact that they only had one chance left the three of them perplexed as to why Albert was in such a hurry.
"This doesn't seem like something he would usually do," Ron added.
"Did Albert mention a timeframe, Hermione?" Harry knew he had no choice but to follow Albert's lead. There must be a reason for the early execution of the plan, and while he didn't know if there was a backup plan in case of failure, he trusted that Albert wouldn't put all his hopes on him alone.
"It should be soon," Hermione replied, unsure of the specifics as Albert hadn't mentioned a timeline.
"Soon?" Ron repeated.
"Yes, most likely within the next few days. It is quite urgent," Hermione confirmed.
Putting aside his worries, Harry began to consider their next steps. He couldn't pin all his hopes on Albert's backup plan.
"I think we should find a way to get in touch with Albert and discuss the next steps," Ron suggested. "At the very least, we need to ensure our coordination goes smoothly."
While they trusted that Albert would have everything arranged, they needed to be in the loop before taking action to avoid disrupting his plans.
They all understood that once they invaded Gringotts, it would mark the beginning of an all-out war with Voldemort, leaving no room for negotiation.
As the trio discussed this matter, there was a knock on the door, and Ginny, who had just left, poked her head back in.
"Kingsley is going to hold a meeting, and Mum asked me to call you," Ginny said.
"Do you know what it's about?" Harry asked, sensing that it might be related to Albert's early execution of the plan.
"It seems to be related to what happened at Nurmengard Prison last time," Ginny replied, though she wasn't entirely sure. She had only heard bits and pieces from others.
The three of them exchanged glances.
The events at Nurmengard Prison had been publicized throughout Europe via the various wizarding newspapers.
With the extensive publicity by the Ministries of Magic in different countries, the negative image of the wizarding governments being inactive had been successfully reversed, and everyone regretted that Voldemort had escaped right under their noses.
Kingsley Shacklebolt, in particular, had become a household name as the expert on Voldemort and the spiritual pillar against the Dark forces, even more so than the famous savior, Harry Potter, among European wizards.
While Kingsley himself was clear about the situation and didn't pay much attention to this fame, others were indeed shocked and impressed. Lately, the entire British wizarding community had been abuzz with discussions about this.
However, it was undeniable that Kingsley had made a significant contribution to the fight against Voldemort, whether he was an expert on the Dark Lord or not.
As Albert had said, once the threat of Voldemort was eliminated, Kingsley would undoubtedly become the next Minister of Magic.
