[10th: Li Zhou, Points: 518]
Lin Qi scanned the list, a faint smile tugging at his lips. He hadn’t realized he’d climbed to third place on the Points Leaderboard so quickly.
“Wang Qiufeng, Chen Li—I hope you two can take down a few more Disaster Beasts. If the top spot becomes too easy, this competition won’t be fun at all.”
He turned and strode toward a nearby supply station.
---
At another supply station, Wang Qiufeng stood drenched in blood, his hair disheveled, sweat dripping from his exhausted face. He gulped down an Energy Brew to replenish his strength, his Adam’s apple bobbing as he chugged it.
Staring at the leaderboard, he frowned at the names of the top two.
“How did Chen Li pull ahead? My Disaster Beast hunting speed isn’t slow at all.”
“He actually overtook me—doesn’t he get tired?”
“And Lin Qi… his points are rising too fast. He’s almost caught up to me.”
“No way—I’m claiming first place.”
Gritting his teeth, Wang Qiufeng pushed himself to stand. But the moment he moved, pain twisted his face. His body felt leaden, every muscle screaming from hours of relentless hunting.
He couldn’t keep going. Pushing further risked collapse—or worse, death.
---
At a different safe zone, Chen Li sauntered out, hoisting his black Heavy Sword. He glanced at the leaderboard and grinned.
“Looks like everyone’s hitting a wall.”
“I’m heading for Level-3 Disaster Beasts next. The gap between us will only widen.”
“I’ll keep my grip on the top spot until the end!”
With that, he sprinted into the distance like a lion prowling the savanna.
---
Back in a large conference room, the atmosphere buzzed with chatter.
“Lin Qi’s climbing the leaderboard!”
“He’s surging up fast—his points are skyrocketing!”
“How many Disaster Beasts has he killed? The ground’s littered with corpses!” someone exclaimed, eyes wide.
“He’s hit third place and is closing in on Wang Qiufeng and Chen Li!” another added, smirking.
“It’s been over five hours since the training started. Most people are drained.”
“Wang Qiufeng’s movements aren’t as sharp as before.”
“But Chen Li and Lin Qi… they seem oddly untouched by fatigue,” someone muttered, puzzled.
At Azure Firmament Martial Academy’s observation area, Headmaster Big Ear watched Lin Qi on the screen.
“That kid’s relentless. Two hours of nonstop slaughter, and he’s still going?”
“Could he actually challenge for first?”
Suddenly, his eyes narrowed.
“Wait… those are Gravity Rings?”
On the live feed, Lin Qi had removed his jacket, discarding two black Gravity Rings from his arms and legs with a clang.
“He’s been hunting Disaster Beasts with those on?” Big Ear thought, stunned.
“Doesn’t he worry about slowing down his efficiency? Or burning out?”
A grin spread across his face.
“I’m starting to like this kid.”
---
Elsewhere, others noticed too.
“What did Lin Qi take off?”
“Gravity Rings! He’s been fighting in those the whole time? That’s insane!” someone gasped.
Murmurs rippled through the crowd. How could his body endure such strain? They stared at the screen, watching him like a monster forged from iron.
---
In Ruin Town’s Sector 2, a supply station echoed with two heavy thuds as Lin Qi dropped his Gravity Rings to the ground.
He wiped the blood from his body, stretched his joints, and grabbed an Energy Brew. After devouring several Compressed Rations, he relieved himself and grabbed his Black Long Spear again.
“Without those Gravity Rings, I feel light as air,” he sighed, savoring the warmth in his stomach as his strength surged.
His Innate Talents—Stomach Reinforcement and Dragon Vigor Tiger Might—were working overtime.
He checked the clock—under an hour left. Enough time.
Eyes gleaming, he launched himself into the ruins, the Black Long Spear slicing the air like lightning.
---
Minutes later, in a shattered concrete lot, Zhou Xi Yin fought a Grayspine Wolf. Her sword clashed against its claws, sparks flying. But exhaustion slowed her movements.
“If I were at my peak, I’d kill this beast easily,” she thought, wincing as the impact sent her flying. She hit the ground hard, pain paralyzing her.
“Damn it… should I call for help?”
The Grayspine Wolf loomed closer, its metallic-spined fur glinting in the sun.
“You look like you could use a hand.”
Lin Qi emerged, Black Long Spear in hand.
Recognizing him, Zhou Xi Yin’s eyes lit up.
The Grayspine Wolf lunged.
Lin Qi stood firm, eyes sharp.
“Is it too soon to say I’m weak?” he asked, meeting the beast’s charge with a spear strike that rang like steel.
The battle erupted.
