Chapter 148: The Nine Realms Can't Do Without Thor, Just as 3D Can't Do Without Tifa
Chapter 148: The Nine Realms Can't Do Without Thor, Just as 3D Can't Do Without Tifa
In the world of storytelling, there are always various laws and rules.
For instance, the childhood friend always loses to the latecomer, or the latecomer who is also a childhood friend always triumphs. There's also the rule of elemental weaknesses: natural beats tsundere, tsundere beats kuudere, and kuudere beats natural, creating a seamless cycle.
Clearly, Thor is the natural-born, and Loki is the scheming.
But these two break the rules. Even though Loki always uses all sorts of tricks to trip up Thor, the brainless Thor always manages to come out on top without even trying.
Faced with Thor's thoughtless remarks, Loki tries to smooth things over, "Please don't mind Thor's words. My magic is still not proficient; I am far from matching the skills of the Supreme Sorcerer."
This was a well-played statement. He didn't say his magic was weak, but he acknowledged the Supreme Sorcerer's strength. He neither belittled Asgardian magic nor disrespected his elders.
Lu Ke smiled slightly, "Mages are students of truth. Every mage deserves respect."
"I think whether it's the Supreme Sorcerer or the First Mage of the Nine Realms, these titles are just empty names. Mages don't need these titles, or perhaps every mage can have these titles."
The Ancient One frowned from a distance. Why did these words sound so familiar?
Loki clearly didn't expect the mage to have such a broad perspective, and he immediately elevated the conversation with his words.
Moreover, as he listened, he couldn't help but think about himself. By rounding off the numbers, perhaps Asgard didn't need Thor at all, or everyone could become Thor!
"Truly worthy of being the next Supreme Sorcerer. Your words are profound, and I have learned much."
"Oh, you flatter me."
Loki's lips curled, and he extended his hand to shake Lu Ke's, glancing at Thor with a hint of satisfaction.
In Loki's view, this victory banquet was meant to foster friendship between Odin's heir and the future Supreme Sorcerer.
And now, he had succeeded in forming a bond before Thor.
Wasn't this a form of NTR?
But his efforts were wasted on a blind man. Thor completely ignored his subtle hints and greeted Lu Ke with a smile.
"I am Thor, welcome to my victory banquet."
Lu Ke nodded, "Pleased to meet you, Thor. I am Lu Ke, a mage on the path to eternity."
Thor scratched his head, "Didn't you just say mages seek truth? How did it become eternity?"
Loki rolled his eyes at Thor, "Eternity is one of the four pillars of the world, an abstract deity of rules. He represents truth... in part. Isn't that right, Mage Lu Ke?"
Lu Ke: (°ー°〃)
"Uh... of course!"
In reality, he was pursuing eternity in a physical sense, but for now, let's say Loki was right. After all, he was still far from making the Ancient One his own!
There was one more thing.
Was Uncle Swallow already completely removed from the ranks of the five deities? Just because his record was a bit poor, did it have to be this extreme?
Thor: o_o .
Who understands this?
His face shifted from confusion to solemnity, and he nodded, "I see."
Whether he understood or not, he pretended to understand. This was a practical skill taught by his mother Frigga, which had proven reliable countless times in his thousand-year life.
He turned to Lu Ke, "Can you drink, uh, Lu Ke... mage?"
"I don't like the 'mage' suffix. Just call me Lu Ke," Lu Ke waved casually, "As for drinking, I measure it in buckets."
With the Pirate Lu Ke around, it was hard for the Lu Kes to have a low alcohol tolerance. In the world of One Piece, people loved drinking so much that their veins seemed to flow with alcohol.
"Excellent, I like people who are straightforward!"
Thor laughed heartily, slapping Lu Ke's shoulder. To become his friend, all you needed was to be able to drink or fight!
Odin and the Ancient One had finished their pleasantries and approached with Frigga. Their eyes lingered on Lu Ke, a bit puzzled.
This doesn't match what Heimdall said.
"Supreme Sorcerer, your disciple looks very promising. Congratulations, Midgard has gained another powerful mage."
The Ancient One modestly waved her hand, "It's primarily due to my careful guidance. He's only in his twenties and still so weak. He can't compare to the two princes, who can help you govern the Nine Realms at over a thousand years old."
Odin: ...
Why must she be so sarcastic!
So what if he's over a thousand years old? Can't a thousand-year-old be young? With an average lifespan of five thousand years for Asgardians, Thor and Loki are only about twenty years old in human terms!
"The god-king flatters me. I am just starting out."
Lu Ke bowed to Odin. To him, the white-bearded old man was malevolent, petty, and small-minded, while the god-king was more worthy of respect.
"Too much modesty is arrogance. I see that Mage Lu Ke is young and capable. I'm sure he will soon take over from the Ancient One."
The Ancient One's eyes sparkled, and she nodded, "Yes, I agree!"
Lu Ke's lips twitched, unsure whether to agree or disagree.
Beside him, Thor's eyes lit up, and a fiery gleam appeared in his gaze as he looked at Luk.
He loved a good fight, especially against strong opponents!
"Time to begin the banquet," Odin declared.
With Odin's words, the grand doors of the banquet hall swung open, and a peculiar aroma of wine and the scent of delicious food wafted through the air.
The tables were laden with countless fine wines and delicacies, and beautiful serving maids carried large platters of meat, while exquisite fruits and pastries, unseen on Earth, flowed onto the tables like a stream.
The Asgardian warriors, who were attending the banquet, sat ramrod straight and behaved with utmost propriety, clearly due to Odin's presence. Otherwise, they would have been far more unruly.
Odin stood at the head of the table, with the seats to his left reserved for the Ancient One and Luk, and to his right for Thor and Loki.
"I thank you all for coming from far and wide to celebrate the triumph of my son, Thor. I especially thank the Ancient One and Luk for accepting my invitation and traveling from Midgard to be here."
Once everyone had taken their seats, Odin slowly rose to make his opening remarks, nodding to the table where the Ancient One and Luk sat, before continuing.
"Today, we gather to celebrate Thor's victories on the battlefield. Over the years, he has consistently brought me triumph in countless battles, large and small."
"Everything proves that Asgard cannot do without Thor, and there is no doubt that he is the one who can bring peace to the Nine Realms."
The crowd below clapped enthusiastically, their blood pumping, faces flushed, and they chanted Thor's name.
"Thor! Thor! Thor!"
Amidst the cheers, Thor stood up, raising his hammer high and smiling as he greeted everyone. For a moment, he was the center of attention, while Loki, looking despondent, could only bury himself in his drink.
Once Odin finished his speech and sat back down, the banquet officially began. The guests started their usual routine of eating large portions of meat, drinking from large bowls, and engaging in boisterous conversation.
Asgardians were never ones for formalities. The seating arrangement was merely a formality, and soon the crowd began to mingle. Most of the men gathered around Thor, offering him drinks, while many of the women started to congregate around Luk.
The clean and fair-skinned mage was a refreshing sight for the female warriors, who were used to dealing with their smelly comrades. His face was indeed handsome, and several of the more aggressive women could already tell that Luk had a fine physique beneath his robes.
They were all eager to try something new!
"Master Luk, I offer you a toast. Thank you for traveling so far to celebrate our prince's victory."
A valiant female warrior sidled up to Luk, almost pressing herself against him as she raised her glass.
"Thank you."
Luk blushed as he took a sip, feeling a hand slide around his waist and start to caress him. More and more female warriors joined in, crowding around him.
"Master Luk, I offer you another toast. I am very interested in the magic of Midgard. Could you show me a demonstration?"
"Master Luk, a mage of your power should have a staff that befits your status. Could I take a look? Don't worry, I just want to see it!"
Surrounded by these fierce female warriors, Luk found himself overwhelmed. Despite his strength, which had been enhanced through his travels across ten worlds and several leaps in power, he couldn't push away these unnamed warriors.
They were too strong!
Luk's face darkened as he pondered the reason for his sudden weakness. He suspected Odin had used some kind of Runecraft magic!
As the female warriors continued to touch him, Luk felt a deep sense of despair, feeling that his privacy had been completely violated.
The Ancient One watched with a twitching mouth as Luk, surrounded by the female warriors, seemed to be thoroughly enjoying the attention.
He had brought Luk here for a friendly match, not for a "friendly match"!
Just as Luk was getting lost in the moment, the scene before him suddenly changed. The alluring and voluptuous female warriors transformed into burly, muscular men with dark skin, who began to touch him all over, even his buttocks and more intimate areas.
"Damn it!"
Luk was jolted awake, using his strength to push everyone away and run out of the crowd. When the scene returned to normal, the female warriors looked at him in surprise.
He immediately understood what had happened and turned to see the Ancient One smiling at him.
"Master Ancient One, jokes have their limits. Do you know how easily this could cause psychological issues?"
"Once you're done with your business, I won't stop you from contributing to Asgard's birth rate," the Ancient One sighed. "But for now, you need to go and teach the two princes a lesson, so Odin knows that if I wanted to, I could always produce a more worthy heir."
"And of course, you had better not lose."
The Ancient One gave a meaningful glance at Luk's firm buttocks without saying another word.
Luk drew a sharp breath and instinctively clamped his buttocks together.
This is a threat, right? It has to be a threat!
