Chapter 148: The Brave Savior
Chapter 148: The Brave Savior
The next morning, Kyle entered the Great Hall with dark circles under his eyes and a yawn.
Still groggy, he almost sat at the Slytherin table, but was stopped just in time by Mikael, who was walking with him.
"Kyle, what's wrong with you?"
Cedric handed him a cup of milk and asked, "Didn't you sleep well last night?"
Kyle sighed.
He hadn't just slept poorly; he hadn't slept at all.
Goodness, he had searched the Restricted Section all night, and not only had he not found 'The Secrets of Advanced Dark Magic', but he couldn't even find the word 'Soul Container'.
Only in a book called 'Boiling the Soul' was there a very vague mention of Soul Containers, and even then, it was just a single sentence.
"Only by finding the vessel that holds the soul can one grasp the key to eternal life."
That was all there was.
What kind of Restricted Section was this?
Pfft, false advertising!
Of course, Kyle couldn't have possibly searched the entire Restricted Section in just one night, but he didn't want to look anymore.
It was clear that Dumbledore had taken away all the books related to Soul Containers, and the remaining books had, at most, only a few vague references, which were useless.
Kyle lifted his head and saw the concerned looks on his friends' faces. He forced a smile and shook his head, saying, "It's nothing. I just had a strange dream last night, and I'm a bit out of sorts."
"A strange dream?"
Cedric furrowed his brows. "I remember Hufflepuff has Divination today. Do you want me to ask Professor Sprout about it?"
At Fred and George's urging, Cedric had also chosen to take Divination.
"No need."
Kyle yawned again and said, "I was just reading books in my dream, probably because it's the start of the school year and I'm a bit overexcited. Maybe I'll be fine tomorrow."
Hmm...
After hearing Kyle's words, everyone except Cedric turned away and stopped looking at him.
Reading books in his dream... Was this the top student of the year? Unbelievable!
Even Cedric couldn't help but twitch his lips in amusement, not saying anything more.
"Let me tell you something interesting."
At this moment, Mikael suddenly leaned in, speaking mysteriously, "I heard from a first-year student last night that Harry Potter and Ron Weasley from Gryffindor fed Professor McGonagall dried fish during class."
"Fed Professor McGonagall?" Cedric was instantly intrigued. "Is that true?"
He knew that Professor McGonagall had a habit of demonstrating her Animagus form on the first day of class, but he never expected someone to dare provoke her.
In Cedric's eyes, it was deliberate, after all, who would bring dried fish to class for no reason? They must have known beforehand that Professor McGonagall would turn into a cat, and so they were prepared.
It was no wonder they were the saviors; this courage was truly extraordinary.
"Of course, it's true."
Mikael struggled to contain his laughter. "This news is spreading like wildfire in the school. The first-year student, Justin Finch-Fletchley, said that they were feeding her like a stray cat, throwing the dried fish from halfway across the classroom.
Professor McGonagall's face turned green with anger, and she punished them... haha... she made them stand and listen for an entire class period."
At this point, Mikael couldn't hold it in anymore and burst out laughing, leaning on the table.
Cedric also found it amusing, but he didn't laugh as hard as Mikael.
Kyle subconsciously turned his head and looked towards the Gryffindor table.
Over there, Harry and Ron were huddled in a corner of the table, not daring to lift their heads, while Fred and George stood beside them, laughing and patting their shoulders vigorously.
In their eyes, their younger brother and junior had undoubtedly done something great, something so great that even they couldn't help but deeply admire it.
"The new students these days are really bold."
Kyle turned back, calmly picked up a piece of toast and put it in his mouth, then took a few slices of fried eggs and bacon.
When he was almost done eating, he tapped the table with his fingers and said softly,
"Can I have a cup of black tea?"
As soon as he finished speaking, a cup of steaming black tea appeared in front of Kyle, along with a small jar of sugar cubes.
Kyle picked up the cup, tried it, and found the temperature just right, so he drank the tea in one gulp.
"Please bring me another cup."

After drinking two cups of black tea in a row, Kyle finally felt less sleepy, but for safety's sake, he ordered a third cup.
The first class today was Transfiguration, and if he fell asleep in class, his fate would be even worse than Harry's.
After leaving the Great Hall, the group bid farewell to Cedric and headed to the Transfiguration classroom on the fourth floor.
Perhaps due to yesterday's incident, Professor McGonagall looked even more serious than usual.
And unlike Professor Flitwick, she didn't leave time for students to review last year's material in the first class of the new school year, but instead started directly with new content.
Transforming beetles into buttons was more challenging than last year, by more than just a little bit.
Because beetles moved, and they weren't slow.
Mikael waved his wand and struggled for half a day, only to make the beetle exercise a little.
Ryan was smarter; he directly pinched the beetle with his hand, so he didn't have to worry about missing the target.
But as soon as he raised his wand, Professor McGonagall appeared beside him and said sternly, "I already said it, no touching the beetles with your hands. Didn't you hear me? Or do you think your left hand is a bit redundant?"
The beetles were small, and pinching them with your hand made them look even smaller. One wrong move, and the spell might hit your hand.
If you're lucky, nothing would happen, but if you're unlucky... who knows what could happen.
Last year, something like this happened, and the young wizard's fingers fused together on the spot, and it took two days in the school hospital to recover.
Ryan was scared stiff, stammering, "Pro... Professor McGonagall, I... I forgot."
"Hufflepuff, minus three points."
Professor McGonagall glared at him and turned away.
After witnessing his lesson, the others didn't dare to be clever, and honestly chased the beetles around the table, frantically casting spells.
But most of their results weren't ideal.
The beetles were too agile, and many gradually lost patience, waving their wands more and more vigorously.
A series of crackling sounds gradually filled the classroom, along with sparks flying everywhere.
The beetle mortality rate began to rise sharply, some squashed by wands, others blasted away, making Professor McGonagall's expression even more displeased.
