Chapter 148: Points Surge!
Chapter 148: Points Surge! (Requesting Monthly Vote)
Lin Qi pressed the yellow button, scrolling the projected Points Leaderboard to the bottom before selecting the map. A holographic layout of Ruin Town materialized, divided into two zones—Zone 1 and Zone 2. His current position glowed as a red marker, while safe supply points shimmered in blue.
“Zone 2 it is,” he murmured. “That’s where the Level-2 and Level-3 Disaster Beasts are. Taking them down is the fastest way to rack up points.”
With that, he sprang into motion, his form blurring like a panther on the hunt. High above, a green metallic orb trailed him silently.
…
Minutes later, in a crumbling building veined with dark green tendrils, Lin Qi crouched, listening to the guttural snarls echoing through the cracks. Suddenly, a massive black-furred beast charged—a horned boar as large as a speeding car, its obsidian-colored hide gleaming under the sun, its single horn sharp as a dagger.
Lin Qi’s lips curled at the familiar sight of the Obsidian Horn Boar. It’s you again.
Without hesitation, he lunged, swinging his long spear into a preparatory arc. Two months ago, he’d felled two of these beasts at Wanda Plaza. Now, his strength had surged exponentially.
The boar’s iron-hard hooves thundered against the ground, kicking up dust as it barreled forward like a tank, horn aimed to pierce. Lin Qi’s eyes narrowed, tracking its movements. At the last moment, he sidestepped, thrusting his spear forward.
The blade sliced through the air, piercing the beast’s eye socket and skewering its brain. Vital Force erupted, liquefying the organ. He yanked the spear free in one fluid motion.
Blood geysered. The boar’s momentum carried it crashing into a fractured wall, rubble toppling onto its limp form. The ground trembled.
Obsidian Horn Boar Eliminated. Points +10.
Lin Qi hefted his bloodied spear, smirking. Once a daunting foe, now a mere stepping stone. It didn’t weaken… he realized. I just got stronger.
The beast’s charge, once a blur, now seemed sluggish in his eyes. A single strike had ended it.
…
Suddenly, snarls erupted from all directions. Three more Obsidian Horn Boars burst from the ruins, encircling him.
“As expected,” Lin Qi said, tightening his grip. “They travel in packs. Three at once? Perfect.”
He lunged, muscles surging with power. The beasts charged, horns gleaming.
Split Mountain Spear Technique: Windshatter Thrust!
The spear lanced forward like an arrow, cleaving the air. The leading boar’s horn clashed with the blade—then split as the spear pierced its jaw, erupting through its back in a crimson spray.
Lin Qi twisted, channeling Mountain-Sundering Force. The corpse slammed into another boar mid-air, both crashing down.
Spinning, he swung his spear in a crescent arc, Vital Force crackling. The third boar’s charge faltered as the weapon smashed its skull, teeth shattering.
The final blow pierced its neck.
Three Obsidian Horn Boars Eliminated. Points +30.
…
A chorus of bestial roars cut through the air—wolf-like howls, yet deeper, fiercer. Lin Qi’s eyes sharpened. Five muscular beasts bounded from the rubble: Blazing Tiger Hounds. Towering like adult tigers, their fur striped in golden-yellow, they radiated raw power. Their wide maws bristled with razor-fanged snarls.
Top-tier Level-2 Disaster Beasts, Lin Qi noted. Tougher than the boars. Five at once? Let’s dance.
The pack surged forward.
…
In the Azure Firmament Martial Academy’s control room, a chubby-cheeked female student gasped as she monitored Lin Qi’s feed.
“Five Blazing Tiger Hounds? He’s in real danger now!”
…
Lin Qi’s muscles coiled like springs. Vital Force surged into his spear.
The first hound lunged. He answered with a downward smash, the spear’s tip blazing with Mountain-Sundering Force.
Crunch!
The hound’s skull caved, blood spattering his uniform. Two more fell under a whirlwind of strikes—one decapitated by a horizontal slash, another impaled mid-leap.
The last hound fled. Lin Qi vanished, reappearing beside it. His spear tore through its neck.
Five Blazing Tiger Hounds Eliminated. Points +50.
Leaderboard Update: Rank #15 → #8.
…
Wiping his blade clean, Lin Qi surveyed the carnage. Crimson soaked his uniform, the air thick with gore. He waited, knowing the scent would draw more prey.
…
Back at the academy, the female student pointed excitedly at the feed.
“Look at him, Dean! That’s Rank #8 now—five Blazing Tiger Hounds down alone! He’s timing his attacks, his techniques, his force… perfect!”
The headmaster nodded, ears twitching with interest. “He’s just begun. I can’t wait to see more.”
…
Hour after hour, the beasts came—Ironthorn Boars, Shadow Cats, and more. Lin Qi’s spear never ceased its deadly dance.
Points +10… +1… +10…
…
An hour and a half later, silence fell. Lin Qi slumped onto a hound’s corpse, his body a blood-soaked statue amid a battlefield of the fallen.
He opened the Leaderboard.
