Chapter 146: The Hunt Begins
Chapter 146: The Hunt Begins (Requesting Monthly Vote)
Yuan Ji’s voice grew louder, more impassioned, as the bounty swelled—3,000,000 Xia Kingdom Credits for first place.
The crowd erupted in frenzy, eager to storm Ruin Town and spill blood for the prize.
Lin Qi’s eyes gleamed, fixed on the glowing screen displaying the reward.
That’s real money. If he claimed first place and added the 1,000,000 Credit bonus from the Warm-up Match, he’d earn 4,000,000 Credits in a single Survival Training Camp. Enough to buy far more cultivation resources than he’d dreamed.
As the clock struck ten a.m., Yuan Ji raised their arm toward the towering black-and-crimson steel gate.
“Now, I declare the Practical Training officially begins—Practical Training officially begins!”
Boom!
The ancient gate groaned open, its rusted surface scarred by claw marks and dried blood. Beyond it, the 10-meter-high steel walls loomed, framing the desolate expanse of Ruin Town.
“Go!”
Boom!
Whoosh—
Over two thousand Martial Artists surged forward like a tidal wave, weapons drawn, dust swirling in their wake.
Simultaneously, rows of black metal crates burst open.
Beep-beep-beep!
Thousands of fist-sized green orbs whirred to life, each with a black, pupil-like ring glowing at its center. They ascended in unison, gliding into Ruin Town.
“Drones deployed!” a soldier radioed.
---
Lin Qi and Jiang Tao dashed into the ruins.
“Brother Qi, did you remove your Gravity Ring?” Jiang Tao panted after a sprint.
“No,” Lin Qi replied, halting.
“You didn’t?!” Jiang Tao gaped. “I took mine off—those rings limit your strength!”
Lin Qi surveyed the crumbling town, his grip tightening on his Black Long Spear. “I’ll remove it when the time comes.”
Jiang Tao nodded, awed. That’s Brother Qi for you.
“Got it! Let’s split here—we’ll reunite in six hours!” He grinned. “I’ll be in the top ten on the Points Leaderboard!” With that, he vanished into the ruins.
Lin Qi smirked. Top ten, huh?
He strode forward, the wreckage around him eerily silent. Rubble-strewn streets and skeletal steel beams loomed like a beast’s ribcage.
Exhaling sharply, he spun, his Black Long Spear slicing the air. Moving like a panther, he slipped into the shadows.
---
In the Imperial Capital’s outskirts, another training ground echoed with growls.
Haa… Haa…
A muscular figure in white combat gear—Li Zehao—advanced, Silver Long Spear glinting.
His uncle Zhang Tai’s words echoed in his mind: “Prove yourself. Crush Lin Qi from Cang Province. Show who’s superior!”
Li Zehao smirked. A country bumpkin like him?
“I’ll show everyone the gap between us.”
A hulking shadow lunged. Li Zehao’s spear flashed like a silver meteor.
---
Back in Ruin Town, the air reeked of smoke and decay.
A flash of motion—a Mawfang Hound, sleek as a war dog, leaped with razor fangs.
Whoosh!
Wang Qiufeng’s Wild Goose Saber blurred, severing the beast’s throat mid-lunge. Crimson sprayed.
Wiping his blade, he tapped his wristwatch. A green hologram lit up:
Points Leaderboard
1. Wang Qiufeng – 15
2. Zhou Xi Yin – 12
3. Chen Li – 11
4. Li Ke – 10
…
7. Lin Qi – 8
Wang Qiufeng grinned. Speed reigns here.
“Chasing first place—and that 3,000,000 Credit bounty.” He turned toward deeper ruins. “Time for a bigger kill.”
Behind him, a drone tracked his every move.
---
In a rain-filled crater, Chen Li heaved his black Heavy Sword onto his shoulder, one foot planted on the skull of a tank-sized Ironthorn Boar.
“Third place?” He snorted. “Let the speedsters play. I’m after bigger prey.”
He recalled the Disaster Beast Tide at Cube Plaza, where he’d slain 25 beasts—and faced a Level-3 monster head-on.
“I’ve grown stronger. Time to hunt down a Level-3!”
With a smirk, he marched toward Zone 2.
