Because he had discovered a secret of the Castrobrusso Academy, Liam didn't dare stay in the Emerald Dream for long. For safety, he didn't even dare to explore the buildings or the distant jungle. He only took a quick look around the nearby area before hurriedly leaving the Emerald Dream.
After returning from the Emerald Dream, Liam suddenly felt a bit apprehensive. Originally, he had thought that Hogwarts was just the stuff of novels, so he had considered using his Golden Finger to cause chaos in the British wizarding world and earn some Deviation Points. However, after weighing the pros and cons and considering his moral principles and cautious nature, he abandoned this idea.
Now, it was clear that the wizarding world was far more complex than described in the novels from his previous life. Those thoughts back then were purely suicidal. This also indirectly highlighted the importance of being a good person. Sometimes, the choices you make from the heart can inadvertently save your life.
It seemed that every top-tier magical school in different regions had its own unique characteristics and advantages. This realization made Liam more humble, despite the many adventures he had experienced. He now understood that he needed to be more cautious in the future.
Fortunately, after this trip to the Emerald Dream, Liam's heart had calmed down. He soon fell asleep on his comfortable bed.
The next morning, Liam was awakened by the sound of flowing river water. As he got out of bed and pulled back the curtains, he looked out the window at the vast, dense rainforest in the distance. It then dawned on him that he was no longer in the British Isles but had crossed half the world to the Brazilian Amazon Rainforest.
He hadn't heard the river's sound at all last night, which was probably because the soundproofing spell on the carriage was canceled in the morning to wake everyone up. After washing up, Liam went to the Common Room, where he found several classmates already studying with their books. After all, the next two days were for free exchange, and no one wanted to appear unprepared in front of students from other schools.
After surveying the room, Liam took a seat next to Hermione, the only person he knew here. As soon as he sat down, he heard Hermione muttering the incantations and casting gestures of several spells.
Liam didn't disturb her but instead took out his notebook and began trying to break down a spell, extracting the basic magical runes and altering them. This was a long and tedious process, but it was also very rewarding.
At least Liam discovered that by combining several appropriate spells, one could create various incredible effects, such as the giant flame serpents Dumbledore released or the water cocoon that trapped Voldemort. The foundation of these spells was based on the flexible arrangement and combination of existing magic.
Of course, at Liam's current level, he could only analyze this much. Dumbledore's knowledge was far beyond his reach. To be able to spontaneously combine various spells and use them skillfully like Dumbledore, Liam still had a long way to go.
However, Liam had made some progress. For example, when his magical power reached the level of upper-year students, he began to analyze some simple spells under the guidance of the Nordic Legacy Knowledge in his mind.
In his analysis, he was surprised to find that although the incantations used in Britain were Latin-based, their fundamental magical runes were actually rooted in Nordic Runes, with Phoenician-Greek-Latin Runes serving as supplementary components.
Liam strongly suspected that this was due to Archmage Merlin reorganizing these elements after Britain accepted two civilizations, thus laying the foundation for today's magical incantations. Later, because this system was convenient and practical, it became the standard magic used in Europe and America until today.
Since the basic components of spells are Runes, Liam, who had mastered Runes, successfully analyzed Lumos and the Disarming Charm during this period and combined them to create the first spell, Flash Disarm.
Although this spell required more magical power than the sum of the two original spells and demanded more precise control of magical power when cast, it could cause the opponent to be blinded by a flash of light at the tip of the wand while disarming them, making it easier to disarm the opponent.
After analyzing the spells for a while, Professor Sprout entered the common room. Seeing that everyone was already present and quietly studying, she nodded in satisfaction and clapped her hands.
When everyone's attention was drawn to her, she announced the schedule for the day. Everyone would have a free exchange with the Castrobrusso representatives after breakfast, and at three o'clock in the afternoon, after lunch, everyone would gather in the Great Hall for a social event.
After listening to Professor Sprout’s arrangements, Hermione noticed Liam sitting opposite her. On the way to the Great Hall, Hermione asked in surprise, “When did you come out to study? I didn’t see you when I came out at 7:30.”
“I was just as absorbed in my studies as you. I sat down opposite you five minutes after you did, but you were reading and didn’t notice me.”
“Oh, I’m really sorry. I was a bit nervous about today’s exchange with the Castrobrusso representatives.”
“Don’t worry about it. Just treat it as you would any other day. I believe that even here, there’s no one your age who can outdo you in studies. You don’t need to be so anxious.”
After breakfast, everyone gathered in the Great Hall to start the exchange. Naturally, the main participants were the sixth-year students, with the fourth-year students occasionally chiming in. Liam and the other younger students didn’t have much to contribute in such settings and were expected to listen attentively to the older students.
The morning discussion focused primarily on spells and transfigurations. However, since both sides’ sixth-year students wanted to outdo each other, the conversation quickly shifted to more advanced topics that the younger students couldn’t understand.
After sitting through a while of what felt like gibberish, Liam decided to give up. He noticed that the other younger students from both schools were in a similar situation, though the Castrobrusso students sat upright and maintained a composed demeanor, appearing somewhat aloof.
Liam didn’t want to waste his time, so he tried to strike up a conversation with other younger students.
He noticed a tall, thin third-year Castrobrusso student sitting opposite him, whose eyes were wandering around. Liam whispered, “Hey, can you understand what they’re talking about? I feel like I’m not getting it at all.”
The student, who had been daydreaming, finally snapped back to reality when he heard Liam. “What? What did you say?”
Liam noticed the heavy Spanish accent in his English and repeated his question in Spanish. This time, the student understood. He happily replied in Spanish, “Your Spanish is as fluent as a native speaker. We won’t have any trouble communicating. I was worried my English wasn’t good enough.”
Liam nodded in agreement. Language barriers were one of the biggest issues in such cross-cultural exchanges. He wondered why the Harry Potter world didn’t have translation or language comprehension spells like some other worlds.
