Chapter 145: Yes, This Is the Wolfsbane Potion!
Chapter 145: Yes, This Is the Wolfsbane Potion!
Recalling his earlier promise, Walker steeled himself and took the Wolfsbane Potion. Looking at the dark brown liquid in the beaker, he hesitated and said, "You didn't forget about the three Galleons for each dose, right?"
Ivan laughed and tossed the three Galleons over, then added, "I’ve already studied the formula for the Wolfsbane Potion quite thoroughly. The only thing missing was Werewolf Blood, which is why I haven’t been able to make it until now."
At this point, Ivan felt a bit frustrated. He had worked hard to create the Wolfsbane Potion, and now he had to pay someone to drink it.
Walker finally gained some confidence. He looked at the brown liquid in the test tube and gulped it down in one go.
Gulping sounds filled the air.
After drinking it, Walker clearly felt the cold Potion turn into a chill that surged into his stomach and gradually spread throughout his body. His brain felt icy cold, and it took a while before he returned to normal.
"How do you feel?" Douglas asked urgently. Unlike Ivan, he didn’t have complete confidence that the first batch would work without issues.
"Nothing seems to have happened", Walker said, smacking his lips.
"The Wolfsbane Potion is a Potion that allows a Werewolf to maintain their sanity while transformed. How would you know if it works if you don’t transform?" Ivan reminded him.
Walker nodded and began thinking of things that made him angry.
But Ivan and Douglas waited for several minutes, and Walker showed no changes other than an angry expression on his face.
"I’ve never transformed on purpose before. Maybe I’m not angry enough. Let me think more", Walker explained, looking a bit embarrassed.
"Forget it, I’ll help you", Ivan said, sounding exasperated.
"Help? How?" Walker asked, puzzled.
"Fear Inducement!" Ivan pointed his Wand and a purple beam of magic shot out, striking Walker.
In the next moment, Walker’s expression twisted, and his body began to transform and swell. His limbs elongated, and gray-brown fur sprouted from his skin.
However, Ivan’s focus was on the fact that Walker’s clothes didn’t tear during the transformation. Normally, such a significant change in size would have ripped his clothes to shreds.
Unless a Werewolf’s transformation is also a form of Animagus transformation!
While Ivan was pondering this, Walker’s transformation was complete.
A towering two-meter-tall Werewolf stood in the middle of the street, its large eyes staring directly at the two men. Its sharp claws scratched the ground, and its gaze was filled with hatred.
"Looks like the Potion didn’t have much of an effect", Douglas said, gripping his Wand tightly. He felt a bit uneasy under the Werewolf’s stare.
"Stop playing around, Walker", Ivan shook his head and interrupted.
"Huh? How did you know I was faking it?"
A slightly depressed tone came from the terrifying Werewolf, making Douglas feel a bit awkward and more surprised.
This meant that the Wolfsbane Potion had truly been successfully developed!
"If you were really insane, you would have attacked us by now", Ivan said casually, then continued, "More importantly, I have a lot of confidence in the Potions I brew!"
"Oh, I see", Walker pouted. He had been planning to scare Ivan to get back at him for making him go through such an upsetting scene.
"How do you feel now?" Ivan asked.
"Absolutely fantastic!" Walker's grotesque wolf face was filled with excitement. He had never experienced maintaining his sanity while in his Werewolf form.
Walker looked at his own arm, covered in fur and tipped with sharp claws, feeling a surge of power throughout his body. He couldn't resist running around, and with just a light leap, his powerful limbs carried him several meters away.
"He seems to be quite adaptable to his Werewolf identity", Douglas observed with a mix of admiration and confusion as he watched the elated Walker.
Ivan tilted his head, not quite understanding what Douglas meant, but after some thought, he realized it.
Other Werewolf wizards generally seemed to have some degree of aversion to their Werewolf identity, much like Lupin in the original story. Even with the Wolfsbane Potion, Lupin would choose to huddle in one place during his transformation, quietly waiting for it to end, and would look terrified if anyone discovered him.
But Walker was clearly different. The moment he transformed into a Werewolf, he felt excited, elated by the boost in power. He even began adapting to his strength right in front of them, showing no discomfort with his Werewolf form.
Indeed, he was different.
Walker ran around like a mad dog, occasionally letting out excited howls, which quickly alerted the other Werewolf wizards in the house.
Seeing Walker go berserk again, they all drew their Wands, various colors of Magic Power gathering at the tips. Fenrir, the leader, frowned and rolled up his sleeves.
Seeing this, Walker was momentarily terrified. He scrambled up a tree in a few quick steps, clinging to a thick branch, and shouted nervously.
"Wait, don't hit me!"
It was one thing to be mindless during transformations, but now that he was conscious, Walker didn't want to get beaten up. He now understood why he always felt sore after each transformation.
Ivan watched as the two-meter-tall, fearsome Werewolf leaped onto the tree and clung to the branch, his expression peculiar.
The other Werewolf wizards were shocked, confused, afraid, and bewildered.
"Walker, you can speak?" Fenrir's expression changed repeatedly. If it weren't for the unusual behavior of the Werewolf hiding in the tree, he would have thought he misheard.
"Of course, I can speak", Walker said proudly, leaping down from the tree and landing in front of everyone.
Apart from Fenrir, the other Werewolf wizards tightened their grips on their Wands, their faces filled with suspicion, fearing that Walker's moment of clarity might be temporary and that he would soon lose control again.
Fenrir, however, wasn't afraid. Even if Walker lost control at close range, he wouldn't stand a chance against him. So, he said with a hint of excitement.
"You can maintain your sanity in your Werewolf form? How did you do it? How long can you stay like this?"
Walker was at a loss because he didn't know how long it would last, so he turned to look at Ivan and the others.
Fenrir, who had been focused on Walker, finally noticed Ivan and Douglas walking towards them from the street.
A thought crossed his mind, and he couldn't help but ask, but Ivan spoke first.
"The potion's effects will give him at least a week of clear-headed time. This is the Wolfsbane Potion I mentioned earlier!"
