Chapter 145: Did This Commander Allow You to Leave?
Chapter 145: Did This Commander Allow You to Leave?
"Did this commander allow you to leave?"
The low, hoarse voice carried a hint of intoxication, and his eyes held a captivating allure.
Meng Qianqian paused, wondering where she would sleep if she didn't leave. Lu Yuan rose to his feet, his expression cold, and his hands clasped behind his back. "Prepare water. This commander wishes to bathe."
"Yes, Your Excellency," the maid outside the door replied, hurrying off to carry out the order.
Lu Yuan turned to Meng Qianqian and said, "You should bathe as well."
"Huh?" Meng Qianqian looked at him in surprise. "Bathe... What for?"
Surely he didn't mean what she was thinking?
Meng Qianqian strongly suspected that he had drunk too much.
Lu Yuan frowned. "Why are you still standing there? Do you intend to bathe with this commander?"
"I'm going, I'm going right now!"
Meng Qianqian quickly opened the wardrobe, grabbed a set of clothes, and made her way to the bathroom.
Fortunately, there were two bathrooms, located at opposite ends of the courtyard. Otherwise, even if they didn't bathe together, it would still be awkward hearing each other's movements in the water.
Men always seemed to take less time with their bathing rituals than women. By the time Meng Qianqian returned to the bridal chamber, her long hair still damp, Lu Yuan had already been waiting on the bed for quite some time.
What surprised Meng Qianqian was that he wasn't wearing his usual purple attire. Instead, he donned a plain, straight-cut robe that fell gracefully to his feet. He looked like a scholar from a distant land, exuding an air of elegance and refinement.
The dangerous and sharp aura of a man who made life-and-death decisions was replaced by a hint of coldness, reminiscent of a reclusive young master.
"Come here," Lu Yuan said to Meng Qianqian.
"Yes," she replied, taking a step forward.
As she walked, she muttered to herself, wondering if this was yet another side of him that she hadn't seen before.
Lu Yuan gave Meng Qianqian a once-over, noticing how she had wrapped herself up tightly. "Undress," he said coldly.
Meng Qianqian pretended not to hear him.
"You're wearing too much. It will be inconvenient for what's to come," Lu Yuan explained.
Meng Qianqian stared at him without blinking. "Your Excellency... What do you intend to do?"
Lu Yuan approached her, his unique masculine scent and the fragrance of the bath enveloping her, intertwining with her breath.
Her legs bumped against the edge of the table, and she plopped down on top of it.
He leaned over her, his hands bracing on either side of her: "We're going to do what we should have done last night."
...
The sun climbed higher in the sky, and Lu Yuan, still groggy from his drunken sleep, suddenly woke up. He opened his eyes to the sight of the red wedding bed and immediately sat up straight.
Then he noticed Meng Qianqian, her head drooping and dark circles prominent beneath her eyes, sitting on a stool in front of the bed.
Meng Qianqian had only woken up a short while before Lu Yuan. When she opened her eyes and found herself lying next to him, she had quickly jumped out of bed, fearing for her life. Now she sat on the chair, looking grumpy.
Lu Yuan asked coldly, "What did you do to this commander last night?"
Meng Qianqian glared at the accuser. "This is my room. Why don't you ask yourself what you did to Xiao Jiu?"
Lu Yuan's face twitched, but he quickly schooled his features into a serious expression. "What did this commander... do to you?"
"You exhausted me for an entire night," Meng Qianqian replied.
Lu Yuan's body stiffened.
Meng Qianqian held out her right hand. "My hand is so sore! I held your hand the entire night, and there were several times when I wanted to just break it off!"
Lu Yuan tensed up, lowering his head unconsciously and hiding behind the pillow. "Who gave you permission... to do that?"
Meng Qianqian was so aggrieved that she felt like exploding. "I didn't want to either! But you got drunk and insisted on writing an article for me to read! It's not enough that you wrote it yourself; you also forced me to write! When has there ever been a groom who makes the bride write an article on their wedding night?"
Lu Yuan said sternly, "You're lying. This commander did not."
"Look for yourself!" Meng Qianqian was so angry that she didn't even use his title, pointing accusingly at him.
The table, chairs, stools, and even the wedding bed were all covered with his writing.
Meng Qianqian muttered, "I never knew you had this kind of hobby when drunk."
Even his handwriting was different from his usual style. His sober writing wasn't ugly, but his drunken calligraphy resembled that of a master.
She could bet that this guy had his secrets, too.
Lu Yuan stood up nonchalantly, his hands clasped behind his back, and said coldly, "To prevent you from taking advantage of me while I was drunk, I had to make you write, to calm your heart."
Meng Qianqian whispered, "Then why didn't you just not come at all?"
Lu Yuan: "......Shut up."
In the courtyard, aside from Tan'er, who had played half the night and was still sleeping soundly, Maomao Li, Banxia, and the others were awake.
They didn't know what had happened in the bridal chamber last night, but they knew that the young master had called for water three times.
Three times! Du Niangzi quickly made a nourishing soup in the morning.
After a wild night, it was normal to sleep in late, and there were no parents-in-law waiting for the bridal tea.
So, they waited and waited until noon before the door to the bridal chamber finally opened.
Lu Yuan strode out, his dark circles even more prominent than Meng Qianqian's.
The servants averted their eyes, embarrassed.
Young master, please show some restraint.
Lu Yuan said solemnly, "Maomao Li, go to the accounting room and handle the handover with Cen Guan."
"Yes, young master."
Maomao Li had wanted to check on Meng Qianqian first, but since the young master had given an order, she had no choice but to obey. She called for Wan Niangzi and Du Niangzi to attend to Meng Qianqian.
Banxia was an unmarried young girl who didn't understand such matters and felt embarrassed.
Hu Niangzi had kept watch last night and was now asleep.
The two of them excitedly entered the bridal chamber and froze when they saw the mess of paper all over the place.
Du Niangzi stammered, "Miss, you and the young master spent the entire night...doing this?"
Meng Qianqian's face changed as she realized she had been found out.
Du Niangzi gasped, "You didn't catch a cold, did you?"
Meng Qianqian: "Hmm?"
Wan Niangzi quickly bent down to pick up the papers: "Pick them up, pick them up! Don't let Maomao Li see them, or she'll start nagging again about the young master and Miss behaving inappropriately!"
Scholars really know how to have fun! Writing essays while consummating the marriage!
After Lu Yuan left the main courtyard, he headed straight for his study.
Shangguan Ling looked at him leisurely, "Well, well, the great military governor is finally up. Are you off to the morning court, or perhaps the morning court?"
Lu Yuan replied coldly, "What? Am I supposed to skip the morning court on my wedding day?"
Shangguan Ling sighed, "I'm just afraid that 'the night was short and the morning has come, and from now on, the king will no longer attend the morning court.'"
Lu Yuan: "Get out."
Shangguan Ling: "Yes, sir."
Shangguan Ling left in a hurry, leaving Lu Yuan alone in the study.
He sat quietly in his chair, Meng Qianqian's words echoing in his mind: "It's not enough that he writes himself, he also forces me to write!"
Lu Yuan looked at his hands.
Did he really hold her hand? He had no memory of it.
Lu Yuan felt annoyed.
After Meng Qianqian finished washing up, she went to look for the elderly madam and Bao Shu.
The elderly madam was sleeping soundly, but Bao Shu had a rough night.
She had missed the wedding procession, the chance to show off her new clothes, and the opportunity to sleep with Meng Qianqian.
Only the red envelopes could comfort her.
She sat amidst a pile of red envelopes, counting them to cheer herself up, and then counting them again to feel even better.
She sighed like a little adult.
"Sigh."
It's not easy to be a piggy, Piggy sighed.
I'll go see Fortunate Piggy tomorrow, so here's the first update.
