Chapter 1446: Lack of Progress
Chapter 1446: Lack of Progress
Fred and George hadn't lied; Albert wasn't slacking off. He was indeed teaching Harry how to cast the Cruciatus Curse and ways to prevent the cruel curse from backfiring and burning its caster.
In fact, if given the choice, Albert would much rather be at the headquarters, helping out, instead of wasting time here with Harry.
That's right.
In Albert's opinion, teaching Harry the Cruciatus Curse was indeed a waste of time.
This savior had no talent for Dark Magic.
After learning how to cast the curse, he still couldn't master it and could only watch helplessly as the damn sinister fire raged out of control in front of him.
If not for Albert's presence, Harry would have been burned to death by his own curse countless times.
"It's really difficult," Harry sighed helplessly after yet another failure.
"I know the Cruciatus Curse is challenging, but if you truly want to master it, you need to put in more effort. I've told you this many times," Albert said gently, looking at the dejected Harry. "Usually, as long as there isn't a deficiency in magical power or an extremely incompatible wand, most witches and wizards can master most spells through their own efforts."
As he spoke, Albert gave Harry an appraising look. "As far as I know, your magical power isn't weak. Your inability to control the curse is partly due to your own mental state."
"Well..." Harry hesitated for a moment, ultimately not daring to tell Albert that his highest requirement was to master the Cruciatus Curse while under the influence of Felix Felicis.
"I know what you're thinking, but I must remind you that the effects of Felix Felicis are limited. If you rely on it, you'll eventually come to ruin," Albert said.
"I know, but..." Harry trailed off.
"That's enough, Harry," Albert interrupted, not wanting to hear any more of Harry's excuses. "Your biggest problem right now is your lack of confidence. If you don't believe in yourself, how can you expect to succeed?"
"But the Cruciatus Curse is really difficult. I just can't control it," Harry said with a bitter smile.
It wasn't that Harry wasn't willing to learn; he truly couldn't. Ever since he had learned the curse, months had passed, yet despite the arduous training, he still saw no progress, which greatly dampened his confidence.
Recently, during the two days that Albert had come to teach him, Harry had also studied diligently, but the results still left him helpless.
"Let's take a break and eat something first," Albert said, no longer wanting to continue the conversation. With Harry's current attitude, it would truly be a miracle if he succeeded.
"Harry, I think Albert's right. You need to be more confident," Hermione said, equally dissatisfied with Harry's growing self-abandonment.
"All right, that's enough. Don't pressure Harry anymore. Let him catch a break," Ron said, stopping Hermione who was about to speak again.
Taking the food that Albert handed over, Ron remembered to say thank you. He then took a bite out of the hamburger, seemingly satisfied with the Muggle food, except...
"Don't you have any other drinks?" Ron asked, frowning as he sucked on the straw, his brow furrowing as he tasted the Coke. "This drink tastes really strange."
"Coke is a well-known beverage in the Muggle world," Albert said as he ate slowly.
"I really don't understand why Muggles like to drink this stuff," Ron said, pushing the Coke aside. After finishing the hamburger, he picked up a piece of fried chicken, "This is indeed much better than the sandwiches my mom makes."
"I think Coke is fine," Harry said. It had been a long time since he had tasted a hamburger, Coke, and fried chicken wings combo meal.
"It's better to eat it while it's hot. Hamburgers aren't tasty when they get cold," Albert reminded him.
"Can you tell us more about the intricacies of casting the Cruciatus Curse?" Hermione suddenly asked.
"My tips may not necessarily suit you and are more for reference. What you need now is more practical experience," Albert said, turning to look at Harry. "When you want to use Dark Magic... well, to be honest, I'm not really keen on talking about these things, but you need to know that when you truly want to kill someone, you can truly unleash the power of Dark Magic.
"This has nothing to do with so-called evil power.
"In that situation, you will subconsciously draw on your magical power to enhance the spell's might instead of worrying about killing someone and unconsciously holding back.
"That's why witches and wizards who frequently use Dark Magic tend to be more extreme and insane. Believe me, when you desperately want to use the Cruciatus Curse to achieve something, you will definitely be able to do it countless times better than you are now."
"That sounds ridiculous," Ron mumbled.
"Dark witches and wizards are indeed mostly lunatics," Ron muttered. "But why do you insist on making Harry learn the Cruciatus Curse? If it were you, you could easily break into the Lestranges' vault and take the Horcrux, right?"
"It definitely won't be as smooth as you think," Albert said, having answered similar questions countless times. "I need to make the worst-case scenario plan."
"What's the worst-case scenario?"
"To ensure that the mysterious person doesn't disturb you when you break into Gringotts."
They actually thought that it would be most appropriate for Albert to take action, but Albert seemed to share Dumbledore's view that it would be more appropriate for Harry to do it. Not only was Harry the savior, but he had also consistently held the upper hand in his multiple confrontations with the mysterious person.
Of course, the main reason was that Albert didn't want to take the blame.
Invading Gringotts and destroying the vault of an ancient wizarding family was a massive undertaking, and only the savior could shoulder this blame. Besides, he didn't have the self-sacrificing spirit.
If possible, Albert didn't even want to have too much contact with the savior trio. But ever since he, the butterfly, had flapped his wings randomly, the situation had become tricky. Many of the original plotlines had shifted due to his interference. Albert suspected that if he hadn't interfered, the savior trio might have met their demise by now.
Now, the best solution was to let the savior, Harry Potter, grow up quickly and fulfill his mission.
Before, Albert had wanted to turn Harry into a tool, but now... to end this damn war smoothly and ensure Voldemort's demise, he had no choice but to take matters into his own hands and interfere to prevent the situation from spiraling toward the worst-case scenario.
As expected, there were indeed too many things to consider.
If he were a loner...
Albert quashed the other thoughts in his head but still had no intention of continuing to teach Harry the Cruciatus Curse.
It would be a waste of time to continue teaching Harry the curse before his mentality underwent a complete turnaround.
"Hermione, come here," he said suddenly.
Soon, Hermione returned.
"Where's Albert?" Harry asked.
"He left," Hermione replied.
"Why did he just leave like that?" Ron asked, his eyes widening in disbelief at Albert's behavior.
"He's not angry with you. He just thinks you're under too much pressure and wants you to take a break and relax," Hermione said, patting Harry's shoulder comfortingly. "He said he'll come back to teach you the Cruciatus Curse again after your mindset has completely adjusted."
