Chapter 143: The Kaleidoscope Sharingan That Doesn't Belong to You, I've Recovered
Noticing the disappearance of the crow carrying the other half of Itachi's Mangekyo Sharingan, Hayato Gengo remained unfazed.
It wasn't until a falling leaf slowly descended, obscuring their vision, that he made his move.
Hayato's hands blurred, forming intricate hand seals at incredible speed.
"Fire Style: Fireball Jutsu!"
"Fire Style: Fireball Jutsu!"
Itachi Uchiha, equally adept at seal techniques, mirrored Hayato's movements without hesitation.
In an instant, two massive fireballs erupted from their mouths, distorting the surrounding air with scorching heat as they collided violently.
Boom~
The surging flames, compressed and agitated, clawed their way outward in all directions.
Under the intense heat, even before the flames could reach them, the moisture in the surrounding flora evaporated, causing the plants to wither rapidly.
Fueled by chakra, the fireballs maintained their intensity, clashing against each other without yielding an inch.
However, it didn't take long for Hayato's deeper mastery of fire-style chakra to show. His fire jutsu began to overpower Itachi's.
Noticing this, Itachi's gaze sharpened, and he abandoned this line of attack.
Boom~
Itachi's fireball was finally dispersed.
Hayato's fireball, however, continued its relentless advance.
Itachi's body flickered, narrowly evading the range of the fireball technique.
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
Shuriken after shuriken formed an impenetrable net, giving Hayato no opportunity to catch his breath.
Clang! Clang! Clang!
Amid the clanging of metal, Itachi drew a kunai with his right hand. His Mangekyo Sharingan spun rapidly, intercepting and deflecting the onslaught of shuriken without fail. At the same time, he pierced the center of each shuriken with his kunai, capturing them all.
Before the second wave of shuriken could arrive, Itachi's fingers flicked, and the captured shuriken scattered like falling petals, shooting out in all directions.
Easily deflecting yet another wave of incoming shuriken, Itachi's hands flew into a complex series of seals once more.
"Fire Style: Phoenix Flower Jutsu!"
Blasts of fire erupted from his mouth, encapsulating the shuriken he had just sent out and propelling them toward Hayato with undiminished force.
In response, Hayato drew his own kunai, infusing it with lightning chakra. The lightning chakra extended further, forming an elongated blade of lightning.
Facing the incoming Phoenix Flower jutsu, Hayato brandished his lightning-infused kunai, effortlessly dispersing the shuriken and flames that assailed him.
Itachi, however, remained unperturbed. With an empty hand, he tapped his fingers, and ten pre-connected transparent wires pulled taut, causing the shuriken that Hayato had knocked aside to suddenly shift direction and fly back toward him from all sides.
Forced to halt his pursuit, Hayato set about dismantling the traps around him.
Once he had cleared his surroundings, he looked up to find Itachi already rushing toward him.
Smack!
A hand, painted with dark purple nail polish and adorned with a Suzaku ring on the ring finger, swiftly grabbed for Hayato's wrist, which held the lightning-infused kunai.
Hayato retreated with his right foot, his hand retracting and then extending, and instead stabbed toward the right hand that Itachi had offered.
Itachi's body twisted just in time, allowing the kunai to graze past harmlessly, while his other hand shot out like a hawk, grasping for Hayato's neck.
In response, Hayato balled his left hand into a fist and unleashed a powerful blow.
After accomplishing this, Itachi showed no signs of retreating. In the following moments, his hands, feet, elbows, and knees worked in unison to relentlessly assault Hayato in close quarters.
Hayato's gaze remained unwavering as his kunai was kicked away.
Since his opponent wanted to fight, he would gladly oblige.
The sound of clashing fists and feet filled the air once more.
In quick succession, the second, third, and fourth impacts rang out, their movements becoming increasingly faster as Hayato and Itachi's bodies blurred into afterimages, colliding from angles that no outsider could predict.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Trees crumbled under the force of the aftershocks, and cracks and deep pits formed in the ground wherever the two combatants stepped.
Crack! Crack!
Finally, as Hayato grabbed Itachi's striking palm with one hand, Itachi's other hand pressed against Hayato's fist, bringing their fierce struggle to a brief halt.
Their eyes locked for a moment.
In the next instant, the battle erupted once more.
Lightning crackled in Hayato's hand as he thrust his hand forward with incredible speed, piercing through Itachi's body.
Caw! Caw! Caw!
Dozens of crows burst forth from Itachi's torn body.
At the same time, the real Itachi appeared above the crow clones, his palms flipped, and three kunai, imbued with fierce wind-style chakra, swiftly hurled towards Hayato below.
"When did you summon those crow clones?" Hayato asked, his body shifting as he quickly retreated, his eyes narrowing in thought.
The battle had been intense, and Itachi should not have had the opportunity to form new hand seals unnoticed.
But there was no time to ponder this further.
Instead of dispersing, the multitude of crows rushed forward, enveloping Hayato's entire field of vision.
Hayato raised his hand, and lightning flashed as he prepared to strike them all down.
In the next moment, Itachi appeared silently at Hayato's side.
Boom!
Hayato's body was blasted backward, crashing heavily into the hillside.
Crack! Crack!
Spiderweb-like fissures radiated from where Hayato stood, spreading across the mountainside.
"Things seem to have taken quite an unexpected turn," Hayato muttered, sensing that something was amiss. He struggled to free himself from the deep indentation he had made in the hillside.
A fist suddenly struck his chest, and a hand clamped down on his neck.
Itachi appeared before Hayato once more, his expression calm as he said, "The Sharingan that doesn't belong to you... I've recovered it."
As he finished speaking, Itachi's free hand reached out and plucked something away.
From within Hayato's mask, the Sharingan that had belonged to Danzo was forcibly removed and placed into a container filled with nutrient solution by Itachi.
"And now, it's time to end your life," Itachi said, his hand tightening around Hayato's neck.
Just then, Hayato's right eye transformed into a bloody pit, and he smiled, his silence finally breaking as he looked up at Itachi, his voice steady. "You certainly went through the trouble of altering the Tsukuyomi technique of this Sharingan."
At these words, Itachi's movement paused momentarily.
