Changing the subject, Land Jiaxin brought up the phone, "Big brother, I've already applied to the telephone bureau for a phone installation. There are a lot of people ahead of me, though. Do you know anyone at the telephone bureau? I want to get the phone installed sooner rather than later."
After this incident, getting a phone installed had become a pressing matter. Once Ms. Gu's people arrived and a DNA test confirmed their relationship, the number of incoming calls would surely increase. And with Aunt Chen's loud voice, it would be impossible to keep anything from her.
Land Jiaguang understood her implication and nodded. "I'll go find someone later and get your phone installed as soon as possible. Jiaxin, I didn't know about this earlier, or I would have definitely stopped him."
Land Hongjun felt that he was doing this for Land Jiaxin's own good, claiming that she was too young and naive to distinguish between good and bad people. As her father, he had to look out for her. It was unlikely that Land Hongjun had bribed someone at the telephone bureau to tap her phone. He didn't have that kind of influence. Besides, he would need to stay and recuperate, or else he would have to leave tomorrow.
After seeing Land Jiaguang out, Xue Mao asked, "Sister Jiaxin, who made you so angry that your heart hurt?"
Qian Xiaoxiao shot him a withering look. "Who else could it be but that scumbag of a father, whose conscience has been eaten by dogs?"
She just couldn't understand it. That good-for-nothing valued both his later wife and stepdaughter. Why, then, did he keep interfering? Couldn't he just act like he was dead? He was truly asking for a beating.

Xue Mao was stunned.
