Chapter 141: Inquiry
Chapter 141: Inquiry
As the evil cultivator cried out in pain, the complex looks on Zhang Lan's, and the others' faces towards Mo Hua intensified.
Mo Hua wiped Zhang Lan's sword on the ground, but the blood stains remained, refusing to be wiped away.
Zhang Lan sighed and helplessly took back the sword, sheathing it directly.
"Alright, it's over now. We can head back."
Here is the revised sentence:
As for whether the evil cultivator would be shaken to death, they couldn't be bothered to care.
If he didn't die, then he had good luck. If he did, then he deserved it.
Along the way, Si Tu Fang couldn't help but praise, "Mo Hua, your movement technique is amazing!"
She had been watching from the sidelines, and even she had been scared out of her wits.
Seeing Mo Hua dodge the evil cultivator's attacks time and time again, she breathed a sigh of relief and couldn't help but feel admiration.
Mo Hua felt pleased, but he remained humble on the surface. "It's alright, just average."
"Who taught you that?" Si Tu Fang asked.
Zhang Lan coughed a few times.
Mo Hua glanced at him and replied seriously, "An unknown, kind uncle who happened to pass by taught me..."
Si Tu Fang frowned, "Are there really people like that?"
She thought for a moment and then whispered to Zhang Lan, "It looks so similar to your Zhang family's Flowing Water Step."
Zhang Lan choked and coughed a few more times. It took him a while to recover, and he hurriedly said, "Don't smear my reputation. What Flowing Water Step? Where is it similar?"
Si Tu Fang nodded, "It does seem a little different. Your Zhang family's Flowing Water Step isn't that impressive anyway."
Zhang Lan disagreed, "How is our Zhang family's Flowing Water Step not impressive? This is..."
Si Tu Fang looked at him.
Zhang Lan's tone weakened, "It's... slightly more impressive than our Zhang family's Flowing Water Step."
Zhang Lan himself was now confused.
The Zhang family had two sets of movement techniques: Falling Flower and Flowing Water. One was called the Falling Flower Step, and the other was the Flowing Water Step.
He mainly practiced the Falling Flower Step, but he also knew the Flowing Water Step and had seen other Zhang family cultivators who specialized in it use it. Still, none of them used it as skillfully as Mo Hua...
So effortlessly, so elusive, and with a touch of cunning and strangeness...
"How did I teach him again?"
Zhang Lan frowned, trying to remember. He muttered to himself, "Did I teach him the Flowing Water Step? Yes, I think that's right..."
While Zhang Lan's thoughts were in disarray, Mo Hua heard a faint, mosquito-like "thank you."
He turned his head and saw Si Tu Xiu's eyes flashing with uncertainty, but his face remained stubborn.
He clearly wanted to express his gratitude but felt too embarrassed to do so, hence the barely audible voice.
Having experienced several injuries and bloodshed on the way up the mountain, he now looked much more calm and composed.
Mo Hua nodded, feeling somewhat relieved.
As expected, a boy who has experienced setbacks will grow.
However, he forgot that he was even younger and couldn't even be considered a boy yet.
As they walked along the mountain path, Zhang Lan's mind was still tangled up over the Flowing Water Step.
He replayed the scene of Mo Hua dodging the evil cultivator's attacks in his mind over and over again.
Carefully comparing Mo Hua's Flowing Water Step to the one he had in his memory, he noticed some differences.
The basic steps were the same, but the variations in each movement were more subtle and intricate. Some actions were also more concise, omitting unnecessary movements, indicating that Mo Hua had likely learned something else from someone else...
Why was that? Even though the movements were similar, the feeling they conveyed was entirely different.
Zhang Lan thought for a moment and suddenly realized, "Is it the spiritual sense?"
With a strong enough spiritual sense, one could control their spiritual power precisely, resulting in a more ethereal and versatile movement technique.
The cultivators of the Zhang family were not proficient in formation techniques and had weak spiritual senses. Therefore, they failed to grasp the essence of this movement technique and considered it mediocre.
"It's over!" Zhang Lan's heart sank.
When he had taught Mo Hua the movement technique, he had thought that Mo Hua would only learn it superficially and not master it thoroughly.
Mo Hua's face turned solemn as he patted his chest, assuring Zhang Lan, "Don't worry, I won't rat you out!"
Zhang Lan nodded, but then it dawned on him that something wasn't quite right. Why was Mo Hua making him sound like a criminal accomplice?
Along the way, the group stopped to rest on a small hill. Mo Hua took out the beef and shared it with everyone. However, the evil cultivator was excluded; he didn't deserve to eat something made by Mo Hua's mother after what he had done.
As Zhang Lan savored the beef, he couldn't help but marvel at its tenderness and flavor. "Mo Hua, this beef is truly delicious! It's so tender and juicy, and the cooking time was perfectly controlled..."
Then, Zhang Lan paused as something else occurred to him. "Did Mo Hua just use a fireball technique earlier? It didn't seem very powerful, but his casting speed was remarkably fast... At least much faster than mine."
Zhang Lan gave Mo Hua a meaningful look, realizing that he had initially underestimated Mo Hua's capabilities. He had assumed that due to Mo Hua's weak spiritual energy, his mastery of spells would be limited. But now, it seemed that assumption might have been wrong.
The combination of the elusive Flowing Water Step and these fast and accurate fireballs would be a formidable challenge for Zhang Lan.
After they finished eating, the group continued their journey. By evening, they reached the foot of Great Dark Mountain.
Mo Hua suddenly remembered something. He walked up to the evil cultivator, who was conscious, and asked, "A few days ago, did you chase and try to kill a demon hunter in these mountains?"
The evil cultivator let out a cold hmph but didn't answer.
"I'm asking you a question," Mo Hua pressed.
The evil cultivator gave him a contemptuous glance.
Mo Hua's temper flared, and he turned to grab Zhang Lan's sword from his waist again.
Zhang Lan was startled and quickly stopped him. "What are you doing?"
"He's not answering, so I'm going to break his other leg!" Mo Hua declared.
Si Tu Fang whispered, "That's enough. You've already broken one of his legs."
"I've only broken one; he still has two left!" Mo Hua argued.
Si Tu Fang hesitated. "If you break both his legs, he'll probably die."
"Then we can only blame his bad luck," Mo Hua said with a hint of regret.
Hearing this, the evil cultivator quickly spoke up. "Alright, I'll answer your question! Just don't hurt me anymore!"
Mo Hua was taken aback by the sudden change in the evil cultivator's attitude.
The evil cultivator's eyelids twitched uncontrollably. While he wasn't afraid of death, he absolutely could not bear the humiliation of being killed by a mere child, a little brat who was only at the fifth layer of Qi Refinement.
"Go on then," Mo Hua said.
"It wasn't me chasing him," the evil cultivator admitted.
"And then?" Mo Hua prompted.
"That's it," the evil cultivator replied curtly.
Mo Hua slowly said, "So, you're saying that you didn't chase him, which means someone else was chasing him, and you saw that."
The evil cultivator remained silent.
Mo Hua made a move towards the sword again, and the evil cultivator quickly added, "There were a few cultivators chasing him. They were wearing silver-white robes."
"What about their appearance?" Mo Hua asked.
"I couldn't see their faces clearly, but they were wearing silver-white robes," the evil cultivator answered.
Mo Hua's eyes narrowed as he focused on the description of the silver-white robes.
