Chapter 1406: Love!
Chapter 1406: Love!
Not long after Christmas, something major happened again in the European wizarding world.
The third wand-making master, renowned alongside Ollivander and Gregorovich, was suddenly found brutally murdered in his home, with the Dark Mark floating above the roof.
Soon after, several other well-known wand makers mysteriously disappeared, spreading fear and panic throughout the European wizarding community. The shadow of Voldemort loomed large once more over the heads of witches and wizards across the continent. People feared this murderous madman and were even more worried that he might suddenly show up at their doorstep.
Wizards from all over pleaded with their respective Ministries of Magic to take action and put a stop to Voldemort's terror, but their pleas fell on deaf ears. The memory of the tragic deaths of those Aurors was still fresh, and the higher-ups in each country's Ministry were reluctant to risk further casualties. So, they chose to ignore the pleas of the people and play it safe.
To be fair, Voldemort hadn't intended for things to turn out this way.
Those wand makers were simply useless; not a single one could explain the golden spell that connected two wands on that fateful night. Even the third master, whose skills were on par with Ollivander and Gregorovich, had no clue what had happened. To make matters worse, he tried to brush off the issue with a half-hearted excuse, which did not sit well with the already irritated Voldemort.
The entire family was sent to their graves, nice and neat.
Voldemort, unwilling to give up, continued his search and captured numerous other famous wand makers.
Those who failed to provide satisfactory answers met their demise at the hands of the enraged Dark Lord.
Due to Voldemort's actions, the art of wand making in Europe suffered a setback of several decades.
"Several decades? That seems a bit exaggerated," Katrina remarked, glancing at the couple whispering to each other.
"Ollivander and Gregorovich are aging, and if they haven't found suitable successors, there will be no one to carry on the tradition of European wand making. A setback of several decades is entirely possible," Albert replied.
Albert felt that this was one downside to Europe; if he hadn't stepped in, the knowledge of Nicolas Flamel and Albus Dumbledore might have been lost forever.
"But you're here, aren't you?" Katrina said with a peculiar expression. "I recall that you..."
"I'm just an amateur and have no plans to enter the wand-making industry," Albert interrupted with a wave of his hand.
"I wonder how long it will take for the mysterious wizard to resolve the issue with his wand," Isabelle said curiously.
Thanks to this incident, Voldemort, after wreaking havoc on British wand makers, once again defied expectations and continued his mischief abroad.
"I have no idea, but I hope it takes a long time. Ideally, he'd go to America. Hmm, we could even suggest that he seeks out American wand makers," Albert said maliciously. "As I recall, Salazar Slytherin's wand is buried in the Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in America."
"How did you know that?"
The sisters were astonished.
"It's said that Gormlaith Gaunt died at Ilvermorny," Albert shrugged. "Whether or not she possessed that wand, we can assume she did."
"That sounds like something you'd do," Isabelle said as she combed Tom's fur. "But it seems you truly dislike America."
"Yes, I don't like the environment there. It's oppressive and suffocating," Albert admitted, not denying his distaste for the country.
The air there wasn't sweet at all.
"I think you just want to see the Aurors and the mysterious wizard clash, don't you?" Isabelle easily saw through Albert's thoughts.
"Well, isn't that a good thing?" Albert didn't bother hiding his schadenfreude.
"Do you think Ginny Weasley and Harry will end up together?" Katrina suddenly asked, changing the subject.
The topic immediately piqued Isabelle's interest, as girls often enjoyed a good gossip.
"I don't know," Albert shook his head. "But there's a decent chance Harry Potter might lose his life in the final battle."
"Will Harry really die? Isn't he the savior? If he dies, who will defeat the Dark Lord?" Katrina knew that Albert thought highly of Harry Potter and believed him to be the savior.
"Harry might very well perish along with the mysterious wizard."
In a sense, the two did almost meet their ends together, and the current Harry also intended to do so.
"They might still end up together, even if Harry dies in the final battle. Ginny Weasley could find someone else, after all, love is not everything, it's just a process to be enjoyed," Isabelle said.
In her opinion, Ginny and Harry's love wasn't all that special. Every year, many students at Hogwarts dated, but very few ended up together in the end.
"You're as calm as ever!" Katrina exclaimed. "Maybe it'll be a beautiful love story. Even if Harry dies, Ginny Weasley might continue to love him and remain unmarried for the rest of her life."
"I heard Ginny Weasley had several boyfriends during her time at Hogwarts," Albert suddenly said.
The atmosphere turned eerily silent, and Katrina glared at Albert, clearly displeased with his attempt to derail the conversation.
"So, you don't think they'll end up together?"
"It depends on how they feel. If Ginny truly loves Harry and is aware that he might die, she will still love him and perhaps..."
"Perhaps what?" Katrina probed.
"Perhaps she'll bear his child," Isabelle answered for Albert. "Even if Harry dies, Ginny Weasley won't be left with nothing."
"I think she hasn't even graduated yet!"
Katrina gave the couple in front of her a strange look. "Are you saying that before marriage... cough, I mean, is that even possible?"
"It depends on their determination. The Potter family certainly has enough inheritance, and even if Harry dies, that money will be enough for Ginny Weasley and her child to live comfortably," Albert said.
"To be honest, I don't think Ginny Weasley has that kind of determination," Isabelle shook her head. "A woman with many boyfriends is unlikely to be swept off her feet by love, unless she has her eyes set on the Potter family's inheritance."
"You two are ruining the idea of beautiful love stories!" Katrina complained.
"What can we do? Love is just too ethereal and abstract," Isabelle said.
"Were the two of you not driven by love when you got together?"
"No."
"No."
Their simultaneous head shakes left Katrina bewildered.
"Isabelle is beautiful, intelligent, and has a compatible personality, so I pursued her," Albert shrugged. "I had marriage in mind from the start."
"I'm more or less the same," Isabelle said as she kissed Albert's cheek. "Love at first sight is often unreliable, and you need to spend a lot of time cultivating and maintaining the relationship."
"It's incredible that the two of you ended up together," Katrina muttered, feeling that they weren't being entirely truthful.
