Chapter 140: The Trial of the Seventh Realm
Chapter 140: The Trial of the Seventh Realm (Requesting Monthly Vote)
"2,470 students—seems like everyone's here!!"
A booming voice suddenly echoed across the training ground.
From the distance emerged a tall, middle-aged man in a dark green military uniform. His chiseled features looked like they’d been carved from stone, his posture rigid as a blade. Every passing soldier snapped to attention with a crisp salute.
As he stepped onto the massive platform, all eyes locked onto him. Without a microphone, his voice rang clear and sharp: "Welcome to the United Training Base!"
Before anyone could process his words, Lin Qi’s instincts screamed danger. A crushing pressure descended like a mountain collapsing. Thump!! The force hit like a tidal wave of terror.
"Ahh!!"
The invisible weight slammed into the crowd. Dozens crumpled instantly—some kneeling, others sprawled flat on the ground. Only twenty-odd managed to stay upright, bent forward as if carrying invisible anvils.
"My legs feel like jelly!" someone groaned.
"What the hell is this?!" another cried.
Jiang Tao gritted his teeth, legs trembling under the strain. Li Zhou and Yu Jing nearly collapsed entirely, their faces pale. Lin Qi planted his feet, roaring as his Golden Vajra Tiger aura erupted—a primal challenge to the oppressive force.
The officers watching nodded approvingly. "Good", the man muttered, releasing the pressure before turning away. The instant relief left everyone gasping.
"Phew", Jiang Tao wiped his brow, glancing at Lin Qi. "That officer must’ve been a Seventh Realm martial artist. I’ve only felt that kind of pressure from Yue Feng before."
A second officer stepped forward. "Welcome! That ‘welcome ceremony’ was meant to remind you—this isn’t Scarlet Realm simulations. In the Survival Training Camp, you’ll face Disaster Beasts. Real combat. Kill or be killed."
Murmurs rippled through the crowd.
"Last year’s death rate was 0.5%—thirteen of you won’t make it back."
Silence fell like a blade.
"Any cowards? Step forward now." He pointed at an electronic kiosk. "Sign the waiver and leave. Those who stay—sign here."
A pale girl raised her hand. "I’m leaving!" Her classmates tried stopping her, but she broke free. "I’ve got a future to live for!"
Twenty followed her lead, heads bowed as soldiers escorted them away.
"Good riddance", Zhang Cheng muttered, eyeing his Tianhai No.2 High School students. "Now, sign your waivers."
Lin Qi scribbled his name on the document. "If I die, they’ll pay three million Xia Kingdom Yuan", Jiang Tao mused. "Not bad for a coffin fund."
Their Tianhai squad received dorm keys. Inside their sleek, modern room, Jiang Tao whistled. "This beats my house!" The martial arts training hall was modest, though—half the size of Crimson Vault’s.
Later, a delivery bot rolled in with steaming meal boxes. Lin Qi peeled the lid, analyzing the contents. "Better than Second High School’s rations. That meat’s probably Grade 2 Disaster Beast. What a luxury!"
After finishing both meals, he entered the training hall. Sitting cross-legged, he assumed the Five Hearts to Sky posture. His mind summoned the Golden Vajra Tiger—36,000 brushstrokes of golden fur and thunderous might. The surrounding primordial energy surged toward him like moths to flame.
