Chapter 14: The Fourth Day!
Chapter 14: The Fourth Day!
On the fourth day, Moxue set out with three Sprites from the Mage Tower to clear the surrounding area.
After a night of training, although Moxue’s attribute panel remained unchanged, he had mastered the Blood Frenzy ability and a plethora of combat techniques. By tonight, he would likely have fully grasped all the skills in the Frenzied Blood Warrior Training Manual.
This demonstrated that Intermediate Academics not only enabled the mutual teaching and learning of magic but also allowed the transmission of skills outside the Lord Era, significantly accelerating the learner’s progress.
"I hope today’s harvest will be satisfying. Ideally, I’d like to obtain a class change voucher or a magic scroll. Better yet, a blueprint for a basic building."
After establishing five Sprite Workshops, Qin Muye recruited all 50 Sprites, spending 1,500 gold coins. However, the investment was worth it. He assigned 10 Sprites to work in the lumberyard and the remaining 39 to farm and fetch water.
Qin Muye also had his own work to do—researching the remaining Sprite. He chose Sprites as his core unit, and based on Moxue’s feedback, this investment was entirely justified.
Using the Eye of Magic, he continuously observed the flow of magic within the Sprite, referencing the Sprite Experiment Manual and the Frenzied Blood Warrior Manual to further his research.
Qin Muye’s idea was simple: to improve the Blood Frenzy ability. Originally, it involved burning blood to temporarily enhance strength, but he wondered if it was possible to use magic instead of blood for the combustion.
While he didn’t know what talents a Frenzied Blood Warrior could gain, he had Moxue, a Blood-Soaked Warrior, as a reference. Last night, Qin Muye didn’t just teach Moxue techniques; he also used the Eye of Magic to continuously observe Moxue’s condition.
"Ah, I need paper and a pen to record my data."
Food and drink were no longer a concern, but resources were still in short supply—whether it was wood, stone, or special resources.
More importantly, without a way to record his experimental data, Qin Muye felt at a disadvantage. A good memory is no match for a written record, and relying solely on memory could lead to errors.
Currently, his research was relatively shallow, but it would become more complex in the future, and not having a way to record his findings would be disastrous.
Although Moxue’s presence reduced his pressure by 90%, the remaining 10% was still a significant burden. Moxue was a strong ally, but relying on one leg isn’t the same as walking; it’s more like hopping, and while it’s not impossible, it’s easy to stumble.
Qin Muye’s current plan was to focus on logistics and get the resource flow back on track.
As for joining Moxue on raids for resources?
That was out of the question. He had no tactical skills, no command abilities, and no experience with field observation. Even with the Blood Frenzy ability and Magic Arrow, venturing out would likely be more trouble than it’s worth.
With his current 72 magic points—2 of which he had gained through meditation—Qin Muye could probably handle a few waves of wild monsters at most. It was more efficient to stay in the Mage Tower and conduct research.
Not only was it safer, but it also wouldn’t hinder Moxue’s progress.
As the sky grew darker, another day passed. This day had been the most comfortable for Qin Muye, as he didn’t have to venture out and could stay inside the Mage Tower.
Moxue returned, having leveled up to 3. It seemed he had a good day, especially in terms of his attributes, which had improved so much that Qin Muye almost couldn’t bear to look at them. They were truly luxurious.
Qin Muye's skills have also improved significantly. His Basic Offensive Technique has been upgraded to Intermediate Offensive Technique, and he has acquired a new Basic Tactics skill. It's clear that he chose these skills himself.
Intermediate Offensive Technique: Increases melee attack damage by 20%.
Basic Tactics: Increases march speed by 10% and command effectiveness by 10%.
Both skills are quite useful. If they are upgraded to higher levels, the strength of his units will increase even more. The Intermediate Offensive Technique doesn't just boost the melee attacks of the Blood Demons; it also enhances the attacks of his units.
In this context, skills and magic spells are more appropriately referred to as Legion Skills and Strategic Magic, given that this is the Era of Lords.
The Blood Demons have gained a considerable amount of basic resources, totaling nearly 3,000 units. It's evident that they found a dungeon, though Qin Muye didn't ask for specifics.
They also gathered nearly 100 units of special resources, which is much more efficient than he could manage.
The most surprising part was the building blueprints. One was for a quarry, and the other for a gold mine. Both are basic buildings, similar to the lumber mill. The quarry provides 10 units of stone per unit, while the gold mine yields 100 gold coins per unit, with a maximum of 10 units each.
Taking advantage of this opportunity, Qin Muye immediately constructed two quarries, two gold mines, one lumber mill, and four sprite workshops. This way, 60 of the 100 sprites were assigned to the lumber mill, quarry, and gold mine, while the remaining 35 sprites were set to farming.
The last 5 sprites were divided as follows: one was with the Blood Demon and the 3 sprites in his squad, and the last one stayed with Qin Muye as an observer and assistant.
In addition to these, he also obtained three basic treasures: a magic book, a standard helmet, and a ring.
Fire Apprentice Magic Book
Level: Basic
Attributes:
Contains 2 Level 1 Fire Magic Spells
Bloodlust Spell
Cursed Affliction: Reduces enemy unit attack by 3 points for 10 minutes. Cost: 5 Magic Points
The spells in the magic book cannot be enhanced by power and have no growth potential, making them seem quite weak. They are likely only useful in the early stages.
However, for Qin Muye, this book is quite valuable. It's a genuine magic book containing the spells Bloodlust and Cursed Affliction, which he can study on his own. Once he learns them, he can teach them to the Blood Demons, effectively exploiting a loophole that turns the fixed, non-growable values into trainable skills.
The standard helmet, like the bone helmet, increases defense by 1 point. The ring is called the Ring of Vision, which increases the wearer's vision by 1 point. When combined with the Magic Eye, it can boost vision to 2 points, which is quite useful.
Therefore, Qin Muye took the Fire Apprentice Magic Book. The standard helmet was left for the farming sprites to use as a water-carrying vessel, and the Ring of Vision was given to the Blood Demon.
Besides these gains, there were also some seeds for grains and fruits, but nothing else.
"Tomorrow, I should be able to gather enough wood and stone to repair the Mage Tower."
