Chapter 14: Fighting Two at Once
Chapter 14: Fighting Two at Once
It was still over half an hour before complete darkness set in.
On both sides of the alley, many doors were open, and some families were gathered for dinner.
Jiang Cheng pushed his tricycle, walking quickly.
His eyes and ears were always alert to the surroundings.
Suddenly, he heard hurried footsteps behind him. This made him tense up, and he quickly turned around.
He saw the two men from the morning approaching rapidly.
Upon being discovered, the two men showed no panic; instead, they even smiled.
After all, Jiang Cheng was still pushing a tricycle.
Unless he was willing to abandon the tricycle, he couldn't escape from their hands.
Was that possible?
This was his means of livelihood.
Jiang Cheng stood still, watching the two men approach.
He took a deep breath, reached behind him, and drew out a short stick.
He had anticipated this and was even prepared for the worst.
However, the current situation was much better than he had expected.
Li Wei and the other man stopped about two meters away from Jiang Cheng. Seeing him draw the short stick, they also reached behind them and drew out their own short sticks.
They were slightly thicker but about the same length.
In fact, these two men had also wanted to find iron sticks, but the price was too high, and they felt it wasn't worth it.
After all, with two people and weapons, could they not defeat someone who just sold roasted sweet potatoes?
Jiang Cheng narrowed his eyes.
His expression became serious.
Indeed, no one was a fool. These two men knew the principle that "an inch longer is an inch stronger," so they had specifically found two short sticks before coming to settle the score with him.
Unfortunately, he was no longer the same person as he was this morning.
With his short stick proficiency at the skilled level, it was equivalent to having practiced for over a year. Dealing with two ordinary people armed with short sticks, as long as he remained calm, was entirely possible.
The people eating at their doorsteps, upon seeing this scene, quickly picked up their stools and went inside, closing their doors, afraid of being caught in the crossfire.
"Run? Why aren't you running now?"
The shorty mocked, tapping his short stick on his left palm, producing a crisp sound.
"What do you want?"
Jiang Cheng asked, subtly adjusting his stance.
"What do we want? What do you think?"
The shorty glared, "Of course, we're here to settle the score. If you had just given us some money this morning, we wouldn't have had to do this. But you refused and even threatened us. I think it's time to teach you a lesson, to show you how high the sky is and how deep the earth is!"
With that, he took a quick step forward, raising his short stick with his right hand and swinging it down with all his might at Jiang Cheng!
He had been waiting for this moment for several hours.
This time, he was determined to beat this guy to the ground until he begged for mercy!
Jiang Cheng was highly focused. The moment the other man attacked, he stepped back, dodging the stick.
"Ha ha ha."
Seeing this, the shorty laughed loudly and charged again, swinging his short stick.
Li Wei, watching from behind, also showed a look of contempt.
Indeed, dealing with this kid didn't even require both of them; one person was enough.
Jiang Cheng stepped back again, dodging the shorty's aggressive swing.
But then, he realized the situation was not good.
In cold weapon combat, retreating steps were rarely used. Constantly dodging would only put him at a disadvantage. Only by attacking could he win.
Moreover, his short stick technique was already at the proficient level. There was no reason he couldn't defeat someone who wasn't even a beginner.
"Come on! Why are you running!"
Having forced Jiang Cheng back several steps, the shorty became even more rampant, taunting him as he swung his stick down again.
This time, Jiang Cheng did not retreat. Instead, he took a flash step to the side of the shorty, dodging the attack while simultaneously sweeping his own stick at the shorty's right hand holding the stick.
"Ah!"
A scream pierced the air.
The short-haired man's right hand was struck, causing him to instantly release the short stick he held.
His five fingers, four of them turning red as if scalded by hot water.
The short-haired man screamed in agony, using his left hand to touch his right.
"Now's the time!"
Jiang Cheng took a short step and rushed towards the short-haired man.
Chop! Sweep! Sideways!
In just a second, he executed three basic moves.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Three dull sounds reverberated.
The short-haired man screamed like a pig being slaughtered, tears streaming down his face. His chest took two heavy blows, and his waist was struck so hard that he fell to the ground, rolling around in agony.
Pain!
Unbearable pain!
He had never experienced such agony in his entire life.
Jiang Cheng glanced at him and then averted his gaze.
Evidently, the man had lost his fighting ability.
That left only one more.
"You!"
Li Wei was dumbfounded.
Just a moment ago, he had secretly felt triumphant, certain of victory.
But in the next instant, his companion lay on the ground, screaming even more pitifully than a slaughtered pig.
However, there was no time for further thoughts.
Because Jiang Cheng charged forward!
"Damn it!"
Li Wei's anger surged.
He didn't know how Zhang Bing had managed to lose to a sweet potato seller, and now he was getting beaten so badly.
But he wasn't Zhang Bing!
Roaring in anger, Li Wei also rushed forward. As Jiang Cheng entered his attack range, Li Wei brought his short stick down with force!
Clang!
A crisp sound rang out.
The two short sticks collided, and the reaction force from the top of the sticks numbed both their hands.
"Hmph!"
Li Wei coldly snorted, thinking, Is that all? That Zhang Bing...
At that moment, Jiang Cheng took a short step forward, and the short stick that had been blocked by his opponent suddenly moved upwards, striking the other's face!
Bang!
Li Wei felt his mind go blank, his head buzzing. Not only that, but he also tasted rust in his mouth.
Before he could process it further, the stick rained down on his arms, chest, waist, and thighs like falling raindrops.
Then, he felt excruciating pain, as if his entire body was being torn apart.
Huff... Huff..."
Jiang Cheng panted heavily, his heart pounding wildly.
Despite the brief duration of the fight, only lasting a few seconds, he felt as if his entire being was on the verge of exhaustion.
Looking at the two men rolling on the ground and listening to their pitiful wails, Jiang Cheng felt no sympathy.
If not for his superior skills, he would be the one lying on the ground, rolling in agony.
Sensing something, he glanced into the distance.
The commotion had attracted the attention of many.
Apart from the residents nearby, there might also be others like these two, coming out to rob in the darkness.
Apparently, they were all intimidated, and upon noticing Jiang Cheng's gaze, they quickly hid.
"Fighting these two has its benefits; fewer people will dare to target me in the future."
Jiang Cheng narrowed his eyes.
These thugs and bullies were the type to bully the weak and fear the strong, just like the disciples from the martial arts academies on the streets, who would retreat upon seeing someone in their uniform.
After giving these two a thorough beating, Jiang Cheng had no intention of leaving immediately. His original body had been robbed by these scumbags, and he had to reclaim some interest on the money they took.
