Chapter 1394: Death Eaters Must Die
Chapter 1394: Death Eaters Must Die
"So, you took care of our target yourself?"
Having heard Albert's "sharing" of the reconnaissance results, Lee Jordan trembled as he pointed a shaking finger at Albert, too angry for words.
Did Albert really not know how many members had been looking forward to the operation on the eve of Christmas? Now it was canceled, and he wondered how disappointed the others must be.
Fred, standing beside him, also had a bitter look on his face as he complained, "Actually, you should have left that village for us to handle. We are fully capable of dealing with those Inferi. Even if there were more of them, it would just take a little more time."
"No, the situation there is worse than you think," Albert replied.
Albert withdrew his wand from his wand holster at his waist and gave it a slight flick, summoning a crystal ball used for divination. Then, in full view of everyone, he placed the tip of his wand on his temple, extracted a silver strand of hair, and let it fall gently onto the crystal ball.
The next moment, the silver strand disappeared, and the crystal ball shone with a dazzling white light. The mist inside began to rotate rapidly, and Albert's partial memories were projected into the air above the floating crystal ball.
Everyone turned their attention to the images displayed in the crystal ball, curious about what Albert had done and even more curious about what he had discovered in that village.
Given their understanding of Albert, they knew that he would not have gathered them here if it weren't for something important.
"Can't that mist be dispelled?" Cedric asked, his eyes fixed on the crystal ball. He was the first to notice the strangeness of the mist and began to understand why Albert hadn't left the problem for them to solve but had taken care of it himself.
If they couldn't completely dispel that mist, even if they organized all the members of the association to raid the village, they would likely face a high risk of being ambushed by the Inferi.
How many people are there in a village?
Hundreds, maybe thousands.
In any case, under such unfavorable conditions, even if they eventually cleared the Inferi from the village, there was a high possibility of unnecessary casualties. It would not be worth it to make sacrifices in such a situation.
"That freezing fog is not naturally formed," Albert said without elaborating further. He gestured for everyone to continue watching.
Upon seeing the dire state of the frozen village, even though they had been mentally prepared from the start, everyone's mood turned somber. They all understood what this meant.
"The Death Eaters are insane. How dare they..." Shan'na couldn't imagine how the Death Eaters dared to carry out a large-scale massacre so openly and turn the victims into evil Inferi.
If this matter was not handled properly, it would undoubtedly spark a war between wizards and Muggles.
"Of course, they dare," Fred replied, not at all surprised by the Death Eaters' actions. This was not the first time something like this had happened. "Don't forget that a few years ago, the Death Eaters had giants slaughter an entire Muggle village."
"No, you don't understand," Shan'na said, turning to Albert. "I'm not denying that wizards are powerful, but Muggles are not helpless lambs waiting to be slaughtered. If this situation is not handled properly, a war between wizards and Muggles will inevitably break out. Mark my words, everyone will pay the price for the Death Eaters' stupidity."
Shan'na looked at Albert, hoping that he would remind everyone of the seriousness of the situation.
"Muggles are indeed more dangerous than you think, but now is not the time to discuss this," Albert interrupted the topic. Although he also felt that if wizards continued like this, they probably had no future, what did that have to do with him? By the time that happened, he would already be long dead.
"Look, what's that?" Lee Jordan exclaimed, unable to contain his curiosity any longer.
In the crystal ball, just as Albert was about to destroy a house, a strange black cocoon hidden inside was fully exposed to everyone's view.
What happened next left everyone even more stunned.
After Albert used some method to blast the black cocoon, countless ghosts emerged from the remains.
"I suspect that thing is a Dementor's cocoon, likely used for 'hatching' Dementors," Albert explained, unconcerned about the shocked expressions on everyone's faces. "The Death Eaters probably used Dementors to silently suck away the souls of all the Muggles in that area, turning their empty bodies into Inferi. After the Dementors obtained sufficient nourishment, they began to reproduce, and that black cocoon is probably their method of reproduction. Moreover, I believe that the Dementor's cocoon is the main source of that strange freezing fog."
"Is that freezing fog very cold?" George asked suddenly.
"Colder than you imagine, and that's one of the main reasons why I didn't want you to go there," Albert admitted.
"A bit of cold is not a problem. We can overcome it," Fred asserted.
"No, it's probably even colder than we imagine!" George contradicted him. "If you had paid attention, you would have noticed that not long after Albert entered the village, crystals started forming on his cloak. Just imagine how cold that village must be. And with that many Inferi, if we had recklessly charged in, we might have been overwhelmed by the swarm and suffered heavy losses."
"How did you deal with the cold?" Fred inquired, sensing that Albert had a way to counter the freezing temperatures.
"If you want to learn, I can teach you in my free time another day," Albert offered.
"I think we should do something," Cedric suddenly spoke up.
"We have always been doing something," Albert replied, looking directly into Cedric's eyes. "But we must act according to our abilities. Right now, the most important thing is to end this damn war and minimize casualties."
"Ending the war is the top priority, but..." Cedric began, only to be interrupted by Albert.
"But we need to let others know about the atrocities committed by the Death Eaters," Albert finished his sentence.
"I will mention it in the next broadcast and let everyone know about the atrocities of the Death Eaters," Lee Jordan said, glancing at Cedric. "But... we also need to be aware that most wizards don't care about Muggle casualties."
Yes, it was an undeniable fact that most wizards did not care about Muggle deaths.
"I know what you're trying to say, but it's not that simple," Albert said, raising his hand to silence him. "Even if we want to stop the atrocities of the Death Eaters, it's not that easy. Unless we kill all the Death Eaters, but we can't do that now. You know the reason why, and even if we want to kill them all, we have to wait until after the war is over."
They all knew that Albert had refrained from killing the Death Eaters so far to avoid scaring Voldemort into hiding.
"What if we use the Imperius Curse to control the Death Eaters?" George suggested, although he knew it was a bad idea.
Of course, it was just a playful suggestion, as anyone with a sound mind would know how unreliable it was to control Death Eaters using the Imperius Curse.
It would probably be exposed in just a few days, and the Death Eaters were not idiots. They were more skilled in using Unforgivable Curses than any of them.
As Lee Jordan had predicted, after this incident was spread through the Wizarding Watch, it did not cause much of a stir in the British wizarding world. When Fred and George brought the news to the Order of the Phoenix, they also received an unusually silent response.
"I suddenly understand why Scrimgeour insisted on executing those Death Eaters and Dark Wizards," Hermione murmured, gazing at the crystal ball that had lost its luster.
The evil committed by the Death Eaters could no longer be easily forgiven.
