Chapter 1393: The Shocking Battle (4)
January 29, 2018
Beyond the World!
For the past few days, Qin Shi Huang had been tolerating Lu Hai Kong's attacks and focusing on plotting against the various kings, but the majority of his efforts were devoted to the Alliance army.
The reason Qin Shi Huang chose to take a risky move at this time to devour the various kings and ascend to power was partly due to his desires, and partly because he was well aware that the Alliance had too many voices at this moment, making it impossible to unite them as a force against Lu Hai Kong.
Take the current Alliance army, for example, Qin Shi Huang wanted to control it, but Xiang Yu and Liu Bang would never agree.
Xiang Yu could be overlooked, as he lacked the ability to integrate the millions of extra-dimensional demons, but Liu Bang was different.
Under Liu Bang's command was Han Xin, a legendary military genius. With Han Xin's leadership skills and reputation, he was more than qualified to take command of the Alliance army.
During this period, Liu Bang's side was also making continuous moves.
In order to effectively integrate the Alliance army and legitimately gain command, Qin Shi Huang appointed a leader for the Alliance forces at this time.
With this person's appearance, there were no more disputes from Liu Bang's side or Xiang Yu's side, and they tacitly accepted his leadership of the Alliance army.
The only person in the Great Qin who could rival Han Xin was the Godslayer Bai Qi, and indeed, the commander of this Alliance army was none other than Bai Qi!
It was because Bai Qi led this Alliance army that he was able to take this force and head towards Mingcheng to attack Lu Hai Kong when Qin Shi Huang needed him to do so.
Of course, within this Alliance army at this moment were countless talented individuals. Every single one of them was a brilliant figure in the annals of history, the elite of the elite.
This group of people was not easily fooled, and more importantly, Bai Qi's intention to attack Lu Hai Kong had not been foreshadowed at all. When it was time for them to act, they had received no instructions from their monarchs, which was a strange situation.
As a result, many voiced their objections, but to no avail.
Bai Qi didn't even bother meeting with them; he simply instructed them to prepare for the assault on Lu Hai Kong.
With Bai Qi's attitude, everyone knew something was amiss. Just as they were about to take action, Bai Qi confronted them directly.
Using the lives of those dozens of kings as a threat, Bai Qi successfully took control of the Alliance army. However, at this point, over ninety percent of the Alliance army wanted nothing more than to see him dead, rather than attack Lu Hai Kong.
Of course, Bai Qi didn't care about that. As long as he could lead the Alliance army to Lu Hai Kong and pin them down, his mission would be accomplished.
As for whether they could defeat Lu Hai Kong or win the war, it didn't matter to Bai Qi and his forces. As long as Qin Shi Huang succeeded in devouring the other kings, that was enough.
On the Alliance army's side, the generals naturally wouldn't surrender so easily.
Just as they were about to take action, they realized they couldn't leave the Alliance army at all. This wasn't because Bai Qi had used some special means.
Although Bai Qi did possess such abilities, it was Lu Hai Kong who made the first move.
Ever since Liu Bolin's arrival, Lu Hai Kong's forces had been in full combat readiness. Their preparations weren't just for the nine easily conquerable Demon Cities.
This army, this Alliance army, was not assembled for the sake of the current situation.
As Lu Hai Kong, along with Liu Bolin and Zhang Daoling, headed towards Xianyang, his forces swiftly mobilized, making it unnecessary for the Alliance army to go to Mingcheng. They had brought themselves to the Alliance's doorstep.
The first wave to confront the Alliance army was not any of Lu Hai Kong's legions from a decade ago.
In these ten years, Lu Hai Kong's forces had grown to a terrifying extent.
In addition to his existing legions, Lu Hai Kong had acquired several more formidable and fearsome legions. This newly acquired Mechanical Beast Legion was the first to locate the Alliance army.
"Look, what is that?"
Amidst the Alliance army, a general looked up and spotted numerous small dots in the distance.
Following his gaze, many other generals looked in that direction. However, what they saw left them all dumbfounded. These small dots, initially at the horizon, rapidly approached and, in the blink of an eye, hovered hundreds of meters above their heads.
Everyone could now clearly see the true nature of these so-called small dots—they were not mere dots but ferocious flying mechanical beasts.
Most terrifyingly, each beast clutched a boulder weighing hundreds of pounds.
"Not good! Shoot down those mechanical beasts!"
"Quickly, prepare the defenses!"
The generals, all renowned throughout history, reacted swiftly, immediately grasping the situation and preparing to confront this new threat.
However, while they were indeed legendary generals, Lu Hai Kong's strategy was not based on their historical experiences. None of them had ever encountered this type of warfare.
As they prepared to respond, boulders began to fall, directly striking the Alliance army, and in that single wave, over ten thousand extra-dimensional demons perished.
In truth, if the Alliance army had wished, these ten thousand demons need not have died.
After all, these generals were renowned for their prowess, and their martial general attributes were incredibly powerful, easily capable of withstanding such a stone rain. Yet, none of the generals took action.
On one hand, they understood that these flying mechanical beasts were there to bait them into activating their martial general attributes. If they did so, they would be at a severe disadvantage when Lu Hai Kong's forces arrived.
On the other hand, there weren't many flying mechanical beasts; even if they gathered all two thousand of them, the falling boulders would not kill many.
Thus, they chose to let events unfold.
However, they soon paid a heavy price for this decision.
It quickly became apparent that each falling boulder shattered upon impact, releasing ten to thirty wooden puppets of various shapes from within.
The ordinary extra-dimensional demons had no idea what these objects were, but the experienced generals immediately recognized the wooden puppets and were stunned.
"Not good! There are mechanical beasts hidden within those boulders, quick..."
Someone shouted, but it didn't matter; it was already too late...
