Chapter 139: Gathering of Heroes
Chapter 139: Gathering of Heroes (Requesting Monthly Vote)
Three hours later, deep within the mountainous wilderness of Tianhai City, a massive silver transport plane soared through the skies.
"Boom!!"
"The United Training Base originated as a former war base that was later abandoned and redeveloped into a survival training facility", Zhao Hai announced from the front of the Great Sparrow Transport plane. His voice boomed like thunder, carrying clearly to every passenger. "Jointly established by the Imperial Military, Cang Province's Three Great Martial Arts Pavilions, the Martial Arts Education Bureau, and Tianhai Martial Arts University—the name 'United Training Base' comes from this collaboration."
The aircraft's passengers gazed out the windows at endless emerald forests stretching to the horizon. On the far edge of their vision, metallic structures emerged—a cluster of colossal steel fortresses forming a sprawling defensive perimeter. At the center stood a gleaming complex of buildings constructed from high-strength alloys. Near them loomed a massive statue: a middle-aged man gripping a battle saber, his muscular frame and unyielding expression radiating indomitable strength.
Lin Qi noticed the distinct scar etched into the blade. For a moment, the engraved mark seemed to flash with blinding light, as if slicing toward him. He instinctively closed his eyes.
Beside the statue, a grand plaque read: Tianhai Martial Arts University!
"That's Tianhai University!" someone gasped.
"Who's the statue?" another asked.
"You don't even know? That's Xue Wanpeng—Tianhai Martial Arts University's first principal and a peak eighth-stage martial artist", a third explained. "He fought alongside the Red Emperor against disaster beasts. He's been in textbooks and on TV a dozen times. Are you even from Tianhai?"
"The blade scar on his saber was made by Principal Xue himself", Zhao Hai continued. "Its lingering aura remains undiminished."
Awe spread among the crowd. Some younger martial artists dreamed of reaching eighth-stage mastery themselves.
"Is the United Training Base located at Tianhai University?" someone asked suddenly.
Zhao Hai shook his head. "It's next door." He pointed beyond the university core to a vast military-grade compound. Towering observation posts lined its dark, forbidding walls, their triple-barreled cannons ominously trained on the skies.
The transport plane shuddered as it landed on the colossal airfield, joining dozens of others. "We've arrived. Disembark in order!" Zhao Hai commanded.
Lin Qi stepped off the plane into blustery winds that whipped against his face. The sprawling airfield stretched beyond sight, its surrounding structures vanishing into the distance.
"Tianhai University students will guide you to the assembly hall", called a tall, attractive girl in a blue dress, leading four energetic guides. Lin Qi assessed them quickly—none radiated danger. Weaklings, he noted. Not even Li Lang's equal.
Jiang Tao clapped him on the shoulder. "Brother Qi, this airfield's huge!"
As they walked, more groups joined them—hundreds of gifted youths from across Cang Province, their latent martial auras unconsciously pressurizing the air. Inside the assembly hall, deep-green-uniformed soldiers formed a silent perimeter as students began sizing each other up.
"Over there—Zhou Xi Yin", Jiang Tao nodded toward a striking woman in a white tracksuit, her athletic figure accentuated by short shorts and toned legs. "Thunderclap Blade—second in Tianhai. Her sword sings like thunder."
Jiang Tao gestured to a golden-haired hunk. "Li Ke, mixed heritage. Knight's Pike. Pretty boy, but not as handsome as us!"
Lin Qi smirked. "I beat him in the Genius Battle Tournament."
"Brother Qi, unstoppable!" Jiang Tao grinned.
He turned to a slender youth exuding sharpness despite his unassuming frame. "Wang Qiufeng—the Wind God, top-ranked Tianhai prodigy. Your main rival."
Finally, a towering figure over two meters tall caught their attention. "Chen Li, the Overlord Sword. Twenty-five disaster beasts fell to him at Egret City's Cube Plaza—more than your record. Your greatest challenge."
Lin Qi observed Chen Li's fierce, commanding presence. One of many who must fall.
Nearby, Guo Heng waved to Lin Qi with companions Lü Xiang, Wu Feng, and Qiu Siying. Wang Qiufeng asked curiously, "You know Lin Qi?"
"Friend", Guo Heng affirmed.
"Met at Crimson Vault Martial Arts Pavilion", Lü Xiang added.
Wang Qiufeng studied Lin Qi—towering physique, restrained power, cold demeanor. "A hidden tiger. I look forward to testing him."
Zhou Xi Yin, Li Ke, and others silently measured their competition. Chen Li memorized Lin Qi and Wang Qiufeng's appearances. This training camp will be my solo conquest.
