Chapter 1375: Extra Chapter·I Absolutely Won't Let You Pass!
Chapter 1375 Extra Chapter·I Absolutely Won't Let You Pass!
Lyle Klah had encountered all sorts of people. Back when he was a con artist, and now as a Navy officer, he’d met far too many to count. But that bald guy—there was something oddly electrifying about him.
He’d felt this sensation once before, at age six. Over time, he’d assumed it was just an illusion, a childhood fantasy. Yet now, that same feeling surged back.
"Since I took office in Loguetown, not a single pirate has escaped from here! Not one!" Smoker barked, his jaw clenched as he surveyed the battlefield around the execution platform.
"Commander?" The aide’s face stiffened. He didn’t understand why Smoker insisted on repeating this obvious fact.
But repetition... Smoker knew that people only reinforced their resolve through repetition when they doubted themselves. Their legendary commander, whose intelligence had never failed, was now uncertain?
"Just a 20-million-bounty pirate, Commander. You’ve captured far worse. This one will be no—"
Smoker cut him off with a sidelong glance. "Never underestimate anyone. Even the weakest can achieve greatness. The Grand Line is full of such examples. You still have much to learn."
"Yes, Commander!" The aide snapped to attention, face grim.
Yet Smoker sighed inwardly.
The Navy of the new World Government differed from the old. Now, they freely accessed records and even studied major battles. Of course, most still thought, Learning? What a joke!
Like this aide, most officers charged ahead on instinct and experience. But Smoker was different. Since joining the Navy, he’d researched every major and minor event across the world. The World Government had opened all archives—no secrets, no taboos. Even the rise of that infamous officer’s career was documented.
The more he read, the more he understood his own insignificance—and the devastating power of so-called "small fry."
During the "Top War", the mighty Whitebeard, one of the Four Emperors who ruled the New World, had been felled by a lowly soldier’s blade to the chest. The battle’s outcome had already been sealed, but the sheer audacity had shocked the younger Smoker.
He didn’t care about the 20-million-bounty "doll master." Compared to her Devil Fruit predecessor, she was tame.
But that bald man... If he escaped, Smoker felt the Grand Line itself would never be calm again. Even if the man was unknown, even if Smoker himself was a Headquarters Commander—a top-tier Navy faction leader—he felt no confidence in this moment.
Smoker muttered, "It can’t be... Back when Vice Admiral Smoker cornered Luffy here, that started my whole ‘love-hate’ rivalry with that officer. Don’t tell me I’m cursed to repeat history?"
"Commander, all units have deployed and begun encircling the execution platform. The vanguard has cleared the surrounding civilian areas."
The aide rushed over with the report.
Smoker steadied himself. "What about the capture teams?"
"Already positioned."
"Surround them on three sides. Leave one open for escape. Station the remaining forces there to prevent large-scale destruction at the platform. Force them toward the docks—once they’re cornered, we strike."
"Understood!"
...
The execution platform—Loguetown’s most famous "landmark."
Since the new World Government’s rise, it had become a tourist attraction, not just a pilgrimage site for pirates. After all, who in the Grand Line still used Reverse Mountain to reach the New World? Tourism was a lucrative alternative.
As East Blue’s most developed town, Loguetown offered everything—commerce thrived alongside sightseeing.
Before the jet-black platform, a gleaming bald head emerged, stark against the darkness.
Noah squinted, shielding his eyes. "Wow! So this is the execution platform!"
Beside him, the golden-haired Victoria placed her hands on her hips. "Hmph! I’ve seen it before! This is the second reconstruction. Lightning struck the original ages ago. Luffy stood atop this very spot!"
"Hehe, the very top, huh?" Noah craned his neck, eyes alight with mischief.
"Cut the chatter", Mimir glanced around, cold sweat beading. "Let’s move. Don’t you feel something’s off?"
"Too quiet", Sya murmured, tilting her head. "Is everyone on holiday today?"
Mimir slapped his forehead. "Holiday? The civilians are gone! We’re surrounded! Let’s—"
"Yahaha!"
Before he finished, a voice boomed from above. On the platform’s summit, the gleaming bald head stood, teeth bared in a grin.
"Hey! Baldy Captain! Are you even listening?!" Mimir roared.
"Don’t call me baldy!" Noah scowled.
"Arguing over nicknames now?! We need to run, for crying out—"
Mimir clutched his chest, breath tight. At twelve, he shouldn’t feel this elderly chest pressure. What was wrong with this world?!
Adults these days were hopeless!
Whoosh!
Gunfire erupted as Navy troops surged from alleys.
"Here they come." Mimir drew his pistol. "Looks like we’re fighting our way out!"
Sya’s hands hovered over her sword hilts, eyes narrowing. "Navy?"
"Cursed Navy! Always lurking!" Victoria’s fingers splayed, teeth gritted. "Did we really walk into a trap?"
"I Told You Not TO Come!" Mimir bellowed. "Did Anyone Even Listen?!"
"I’M Gonna BE The Pirate King!!!"
Noah thrust one hand on his hip, one finger to the sky, roaring from the heights.
The declaration silenced everyone below—even the encircling Navy hesitated.
"Great. Now he’s spouting delusions of grandeur. What sin did I commit to end up on this crew?" Mimir despaired.
Surrounded by the Navy, and still declaring himself Pirate King? Even thirty years ago, Monkey D. Luffy had ended up with that officer’s blade through his skull!
But...
What if this one succeeded?
Mimir gripped his pistol, a flicker of excitement in his eyes. "I’ll make every child in the world smile!"
Sya blinked, then drew her twin blades, voice icy. "All Blue... The World’s Greatest Swordsman."
"Will you two knock it off with the dreams already—"
Victoria glared at them, then up at the idiot bald captain, finally exhaling sharply. "Fine! I’ll be the richest woman in the world!"
Boom!
Thunder cracked the sky, dark clouds swirling.
A sudden howling wind tore through the plaza, whipping cloaks and hair.
"Hehe."
Noah lowered his hand, grinning at the encircling Navy. "Then let’s move, my men!"
