Chapter 1369: This Grand Line Will Surely Be Liberated
Chapter 1369: This Grand Line Will Surely Be Liberated
This one’s death means nothing—he was never a formidable figure to begin with. Compared to the Four Emperors, his strength paled significantly.
The only real threat was his pair of eyes capable of surveillance over all matters, and his status as the shadowy manipulator of the World Government.
Now that his skin has been stripped away, he’s nothing special anymore.
After confirming the man’s death, Kuro exhaled sharply and shot a fierce glare at the crowd.
“You’ve done a fine thing!!”
They actually pulled it off!
A group of them escorted him into Mariejois? Back at Red Port, he hadn’t noticed a thing. So the Red Port mutiny was the real deal.
Now the World Government is finished.
If no one steps in to take control promptly, the Grand Line will descend into chaos. The pirate factions in the New World, whose ambitions were recently crushed, will rise again.
“Even if you’re going to stage a rebellion, you should’ve done it more carefully! Thought it through properly!”
Kuro gritted his teeth, cursing, “Who taught you to act like this, you old fool?”
He almost claimed he knew nothing about it, but seeing the live broadcast Transponder Snail in Buggy’s hands, he swallowed his words.
“In any case, this isn’t how things are done. Rushing ahead without considering the bigger picture is just wrong!”
He furrowed his brow, staring at the group before stating, “He’s holding the front line for now—acceptable—to prevent pirates from rebounding. Kuzan, you head back to your position and take command of the frontline Navy forces. Also, send an urgent message to Wano Country to dispatch reinforcements to assist the Navy’s suppression efforts. We must deliver a crushing blow to the New World pirates. This battle will ensure at least twenty years of stability in the New World!”
“Kas, you’ll lead negotiations with the Revolutionary Army. Integrate them under our command—forcibly if they resist. As for the Seven Warlords of the Sea, you’ll all deploy as well. First, stabilize your respective navigational routes, then proceed to the New World. Target any troublemakers and eliminate them. Then make it clear to the pirates who didn’t join this uprising: stay put and don’t cause trouble.”
As he spoke, he tightened his grip on Autumn Water, his tiger-like pupils locking onto the Seven Warlords of the Sea.
What he demanded now was absolute control. If they refused to comply…
Better to eliminate them early to prevent future unrest.
However, none of the Seven Warlords of the Sea showed any abnormal expressions. Boa Hancock, in particular, stood there, staring blankly at Kuro standing before the throne, her face flushed.
“Kuro-sama!”
As he finished speaking, Kas suddenly roared, “Please ascend the throne!!”
“Yes, take the throne, Kuro-sama!” Wilbur echoed loudly.
“Lord, that position belongs to you. Sit there, and we will become one unified force!” David shouted alongside him.
Ascend the throne?
Kuro turned to glance at the wide, ornate seat, raising his eyebrows. He scoffed, “You stole my diary, and now you want me on the throne? You’ve got to be kidding!”
Becoming an emperor in the Republic?
That doesn’t sound right.
“That’s not the case at all!”
Kas stepped forward, his expression solemn. “As you’ve taught us, decisions must be made based on local circumstances, not rigid dogma. We’ve overthrown the Five Elders and defeated the shadow ruler, but we’ve also inherited the World Government’s legacy. Right now, that throne is vacant!”
“Kuro-sama, if you sit there, we become the new World Government—the Navy-led World Government. The world will revolve around your will. The people, the Navy, the nations—we will unite as one, reborn. This is what you’ve taught us!”
“So take the throne. Sit there and become the new King!!”
Kas’s words struck like thunder to the ears of the other Navy officers.
Yet, they made perfect sense.
Defeating the World Government… didn’t that make them the new World Government?
Makes sense, right?
“Hey, shut it off.”
Smoker whispered to Buggy as he crept beside him.
“Huh?!”
Buggy snapped back to reality, about to turn off the Transponder Snail, but before he could raise his hand, a voice rang out.
“No need.”
Kuro glanced at Buggy, shaking his head. “Leave it on. Let the world watch.”
He swept his gaze over the Navy below, lingering on David, Kas, and Wilbur before settling on Kas.
“I thought that was just an unattainable dream.”
Kuro murmured, “There are too many strong men in this Grand Line where power belongs to individuals. Accomplishing this cause was too difficult. Even reaching this point, the path forward is unclear. Who knows what comes next? Because strength itself is the greatest privilege. You, me—we’re all like that. Those who’ve eaten Devil Fruits and wield power freely stir the Grand Line, reducing our achievements to nothing. Will it truly come to pass? You never think about such things. You charge ahead with passion, just because of a childhood diary.”
If done poorly, you’ll become criminals!
That’s why, upon understanding the world’s truth, he abandoned that ideal.
It’s just too hard.
People must face reality.
“I won’t take this position.”
“But it will come to pass!!”
Kas suddenly bellowed, his faintly glowing Crimson aura erupting in a mix of white and crimson, surging toward Kuro and making his hair flutter.
“It will happen one day, Kuro-sama! Under your leadership, it will happen! Because it’s an ideal, because it’s an unattainable dream, we must realize it!”
“Does this world have a perfect circle? No! But we all strive to draw that perfect circle because it’s our pursuit. Every incomplete circle moves toward that perfection. No matter how long it takes, no matter the hardships, we’ve won now, and we will always win in the future!!”
“Ascend as King, Kuro-sama! Only you have the qualifications! Let us keep winning until that beautiful ideal is realized!!”
“You…”
Kuro opened his mouth, his gaze unfocused. The bearded man’s fervor made him dizzy, as if he saw a young man clenching his fist tightly, his face flushed, shouting:
“What a messed-up world! Let’s reform it, Old Man!”
Did you pick up what I discarded?
Kas…
“King, huh…”
Kuro shook his head, a faint smile tugging his lips. “I won’t be King. The World Government never had a King. I can sit here, but so can you.”
“Call it whatever you like—Fleet Admiral, Head of State, anything. I won’t stay long. Staying in one position too long breeds corruption.”
He slowly lowered himself, plopping onto the throne, staring at his palm before placing it on the armrest.
“No need to shut off the live broadcast. Tell the world we seized power through a righteous military force, not as despicable usurpers. I’ve defeated every mighty foe on the Grand Line and sit here righteously!”
“And let those ambition-seekers know—come forth! If you truly believe you can defeat me, defeat us Navy, then come! This will be a life-or-death war until your arrogance is crushed completely. One year, five years, ten, twenty! Pirates, fight as long as you want. We’ll keep battling until total victory!!”
“No matter how long it takes, I, Lucius Kro, hereby declare: this Grand Line will be liberated!!”
If this is an exam…
I hope I score at least a passing grade.
