Chapter 1363: No Internal Strife
Chapter 1363: No Internal Strife
"Internal strife? Of course not." Dalando, the Legion Commander, and Lemo, the Speaker, exchanged glances.
In the past, the Vigor Hub, especially its power center, was subtly divided into three major factions: Speaker Lemo and Granden’s faction, Dalando's independent faction, and Soren, the Bank Governor, and the Gem Dragon Lucia’s faction.
These three factions maintained a delicate balance, each restraining the others.
But now was not the time for internal strife. The alien invasion was imminent, and continuing to fight among themselves would make them look foolish.
"Very well, I hereby swear in my capacity as Legion Commander that there will be no internal strife from this point on," Dalando declared solemnly.
"I also swear this as Speaker," Lemo added.
"We do too," Soren and the Gem Dragon Lucia said in unison.
Soren continued, "At least during the alien invasion, any internal strife should be met with collective resistance. I’m sure no one will object to this, right?"
"Of course not."
"That’s only right."
"I don’t object."
Everyone agreed.
Ashley, arms crossed, looked at her colleagues and smiled. "Since that’s the case, I’ll take on the role of supervisor. If I notice any signs of disunity, I’ll speak up immediately, and we can all work together to address it."
Granden, pleased, said, "If Lady Ashley is willing to supervise, that’s excellent! I also solemnly swear that I will not initiate or participate in any internal strife!"
Ashley had always been neutral, not aligning with any faction and not forming her own. Having her as a supervisor was the best outcome.
Ashley nodded and looked at Granden. "Granden, there are two more points. What else do you have to say?"
"The remaining points," Granden continued. "Secondly, the attack on Councilor Su Yu clearly indicates that we have spies from the rebel organization within our ranks. These spies must be swiftly eliminated."
At noon, Su Yu received a payment from the Vigor Central Bank.
However, the timing of the payment was not made public; only a select few within the Central Bank and the Guard Corps knew about it.
Among these people, there were undoubtedly spies from the rebel organization and space pirates. Otherwise, how would they have known the exact time?
"Understood, I’ll handle it," Soren said seriously. "Actually, we had already identified the spies. We allowed the information to leak to set a trap for the Security Department... but regardless, the trap was a success."
"Indeed, we caught a big fish," Dalando said, stroking his chin whiskers.
Initially, they had only intended to catch some fifth-stage planetary space pirates or rebel organization members.
But who would have thought they’d catch a big fish! Lelin had taken the bait!
And Lelin wasn’t even the biggest catch. They had traced the leads and found evidence of silicon-based life forms and the Crystal Blue Collective’s imminent invasion of the galaxy!
It was like picking up a watermelon while looking for a sesame seed!
"As for the last point," Granden looked at Dalando. "What about Omeril? Shouldn’t you give an explanation to Councilor Su Yu and the hub’s people?"
"Omeril..." The mention of Omeril brought an endless sense of disappointment to Dalando’s eyes.
Omeril’s attack on Su Yu’s clone in the 170th star region was witnessed by everyone, including the many officers of the Security Department.
Omeril was his confidant, and for such an incident to occur, how could he possibly save face?
"Regarding this matter, I will give a satisfactory explanation to the people of the Hub and to Councilor Su Yu," said Colonel Darando, his face stern.
Aomir was his trusted confidant, always loyal to him. Darando had long known that Aomir had his hands in many dirty deals, but since these were minor issues that hadn't caused major scandals, he had turned a blind eye to them.
But now, Aomir had the audacity to provoke Su Yu, and at such a sensitive time! It was as if he was courting death!
At that moment, Ashley suddenly perked up, crossing her arms. "Oh, speaking of Aomir, you need to give an explanation. Su Yu is someone I'm protecting, and you won't be able to brush this off easily."
"You're protecting him?" Everyone was taken aback by Ashley's words.
Ashley was known for her solitary nature, never joining any faction or forming her own. No one had ever heard of her associating with any powerful figures. In everyone's mind, Ashley seemed to have no friends at all.
But now she was publicly declaring that she was protecting Su Yu... Was she planning to recruit him into her inner circle?
But then again, "Wings of Leryn," a treasure worth trillions of Holy Silver Coins, was given away so easily. It was impossible that she had no ulterior motives toward Su Yu.
Darando thought to himself, "It seems Ashley really has high hopes for Su Yu... But what could he possibly have that she values? He's just an ordinary newcomer who has barely entered the Planetary threshold. What use could he be?"
He couldn't understand why Ashley was doing this. But he didn't have time to ponder it further and immediately responded, "Let me first get the full details from Aomir, and then I will give you all a proper response."
With that, Colonel Darando used his psychic powers to communicate with Aomir, who was also in Sector 1:
- Aomir
...
Aomir knew he had caused a major disaster and had nowhere to go. He returned to Sector 1, hoping the colonel would come to his rescue, and had stayed there ever since.
However, Darando had been busy and hadn't contacted him until now. Sensing the colonel's psychic probe, the two immediately began communicating telepathically.
Their psychic communication was incredibly fast, and within seconds, Colonel Darando had the entire story.
He cut off the communication with Aomir and turned to the other Planetary-level beings. "Aomir claims he was misled. He appeared in Sector 170 because one of his confidants gave him false information."
At this, Banker Soren interjected, "I admit that. The confidant who gave Aomir false information was bought by me."
"You..." Darando glared at him.
"Even with false information," Ashley said coldly, crossing her arms, "he still had the intent to rob Su Yu. He just didn't know the Security Department was there because of the false information, correct?"
"That... is indeed the case," Darando had to admit.
Banker Soren spoke up, "I bought Aomir's confidant during the internal conflict. Now that the conflict is over, I can admit it openly. However, Aomir still needs to be punished appropriately, and that is non-negotiable."
"Right, what do you plan to do to punish him?" Ashley glared at Darando.
