Chapter 136: You Must Prioritize Attacking Lanchi
Chapter 136: You Must Prioritize Attacking Lanchi
At the Gerath Memorial Square of the Hecate Academy, the hands of the clock tower in the distance had just passed five o'clock. The remnants of the setting sun shone on the windows of the surrounding circles of teaching buildings, reflecting a dazzling orange light that illuminated the stone steps and metal framework of the open-air giant screen in the square.
Even before the night fell, the steps of the square were already packed with students.
Many students were holding drinks or snacks, more excited than usual.
The buzz of chatter was far from the usual post-class leisure!
Passersby on the road outside the square also mostly stopped in their tracks, mouths agape in astonishment, looking up at the images on the giant open-air screen.
"I just went to eat, and the betrayer has been deduced?!”
Many students in the distance looked at the giant screen in disbelief.
"Deduction..."
"Think carefully, just consider it as Principal Lan catching two bad students. Isn't a complicated problem now simplified?"
"If it were a Resurrectionist with a less strong mind, I'm afraid they wouldn't even be able to withstand Principal Lan's anti-cult quiz."
"It's really a late intention of Byyang."
Five days and five nights of darkness and killing game.
Known as the most dangerous and mind-breaking psychological chess-like shadow world.
But under Lanchi's manipulation, it ended up just like the previous shadow world!
"After Fred directly reversed the mental pressure of both sides in the morning, Lanchi kept putting psychological pressure on the betrayer while reducing pressure for the friendly challengers and attracting all hatred to himself, so that the other challengers wouldn't worry about being killed tonight, thus minimizing the panic among his teammates. This way, the negative effect of the Great Lover on his allies is minimized."
Many students who came with a learning attitude had already started analyzing the cooperation between Fred and Lanchi.
If it hadn't been for Fred quickly laying the groundwork, Lanchi wouldn't have been able to suddenly improve everyone's relationship in one day and then mess up the betrayer's mentality.
As for the effect of the Great Lover, it has never been identified.
Even if the teachers of the Sage's Institute might understand its effect, under Dean Lorrain's order, no one has ever revealed any intelligence about Lanchi.
Students who watched Lanchi's first shadow world knew that in the Demon Academy, as long as Lanchi summoned the Great Lover, all the demons would become abnormal and exhibit various symptoms.
This confirmed that the Great Lover could interfere with the target's spirit or create illusions, but it was hard to say exactly what its effect was.
Until today, the students finally confirmed that the ability of the Great Lover was to amplify emotions.
And it didn't distinguish between friends and foes!
This gray-haired succubus was fine in the hands of others, a double-edged sword that needed to be used with caution. But in Lanchi's hands, she would become a disaster of unimaginable proportions, a sword tomb partner!
As the students discussed in whispers.
The sound of metal clashing sounded like thunder from the heavens, shaking the space above the entire square, causing their eardrums to buzz.
On the giant screen, the cathedral of Lichtenstein Castle at this moment was no longer the sanctuary filled with holy light.
It was surrounded by the hellish flames that were born in the darkness, twisted into a battlefield that belonged to hell.
The fiery crimson devoured everything in its path, and the sparks flying everywhere danced to a violent melody.
The only reaction of the students who had been talking was to turn their eyes back to the screen where the intense battle had begun!
In the stained glass windows of the dome, the sacred sunset flowed down like a string of pearls scattered in a quiet sea, mixing with the violent flames rising from the ground, like a juxtaposition of heaven and hell.
In the blink of an eye, the scene was brutally torn apart by a black-armored female knight holding a longsword.
Her silhouette, set against the radiant splendor of the cathedral, resembled a black fissure ripping through the world.
The executioner and paladin attempting to block her path were sent reeling back by her formidable might, knocked a dozen or so meters away.
Two beams of golden light enveloped them, and the wounds beneath their cracked armor, grotesque and gaping, were swiftly tended to by clerics, gradually closing and healing.
"Scum of the Church of the Goddess of Fate... always getting in the way..."
With each step she took, the marble floor trembled as if the ancient cathedral itself was on the verge of collapse under her power and strength.
Facing the onslaught of the Doom Maiden, the executioner and paladin braced themselves, their expressions stern as they tightened their grip on their weapons.
In the immediate aftermath of the unexpected battle, the battlefield was swiftly divided!
The male escorts of the guild had, at the first opportunity, sneaked away with the dazed female cleric, knocking her unconscious, binding her, and leaving her in the care of those at the rear of the battlefield.
At the very front, the Doom Maiden clashed in chaotic combat with the executioner and paladin, while those at the rear adjusted their positions, maintaining a safe distance.
In this ever-changing battlefield, the executioner and paladin were at the forefront, valiantly holding off the Doom Maiden's assault. The male escorts were positioned in the middle-front, while traps set by the Doom Maiden's sister lay in wait in the middle-rear.
Closest to the cathedral walls at the very back were the clerics who had just adjusted their positions and begun providing healing and blessings to the executioner and paladin. Alongside them were the guild master, devoid of combat ability, as well as the lawyer and his companions, tasked with guarding the unconscious cleric and the noblewoman, who had lost her will to fight.
Should the Doom Maiden break through to the rear, their entire formation would crumble.
"Die, heretic!!"
The executioner roared as he charged forward once more, his strides like tumbling boulders. He brandished his colossal axe, its edge gleaming in the sun, his eyes, red with determination, fixed on the Doom Maiden. He resembled a valiant bear locked in a deadly struggle with its arch-nemesis.
"Overestimating yourself," the Doom Maiden remarked with a smile, as if watching a beast perform tricks. In an instant, she transformed into a black shadow, effortlessly evading the executioner's attack and continuing her advance towards the clerics, aiming for Lanchi, who was even further back.
The executioner's axe sliced through the air, stirring up a tempest.
"You shall not pass!"
As the executioner and the Doom Maiden clashed, the paladin had already fixed his gaze upon her, his longsword gripped tightly, surrounded by holy light. The blue veins on his wrist pulsed like snakes, and his face was set in a resolute expression as he moved to fill the gap left by the executioner.
With all his might, he unleashed a shining blow, a strike of pure radiance, directed at the Doom Maiden. However, she fearlessly raised her blazing longsword, blocking most of the attack, allowing the searing flames and sacred brilliance to collide and explode in mid-air. The residual force struck her black armor, and with a swift kick, she sent the paladin flying, continuing her relentless advance towards the rear!
From afar, Hyberlian watched the unstoppable Doom Maiden, her heart pounding.
She knew that the reason these two formidable tanks struggled to halt the Doom Maiden wasn't because they lacked skill.
It was because there was someone at the back who, even without casting any spells, had drawn all the aggro!
It was just like how Hyberlian, during her entrance exam, couldn't stop Ferret, the examiner, from flying into a rage, no matter how hard she tried, once he'd been provoked by Lanchi!
