Chapter 136: Advantage Is Mine
Chapter 136: Advantage Is Mine (Requesting Monthly Vote)
Inside a martial arts training hall at Headquarters, the sharp swish-swish of a silver long spear slicing through air echoed. A handsome young man in a white martial arts uniform swung his weapon, the spearhead blurring into a phantom, its tip screeching as it cleaved the atmosphere.
Beep-beep!
A phone atop a nearby cabinet lit up. The man halted mid-strike, answered, and a green holographic screen materialized.
Zhang Tai’s face appeared, his expression warm. “Xiaohao!”
“Uncle!” The young man grinned, lowering his spear.
“The meeting’s over. Since you’ve defeated Lin Qi from Cang Province, you’ll be promoted to an S-Rank contract. The official signing is in a few days.”
“Thank you, Uncle!” Excitement lit Zhang Tai’s nephew’s face.
After ending the call, Li Zehao set down his spear, smirking. “That S-Rank spot was always mine. Lin Qi—a backwater hick—dared challenge me? Let him learn what real politics mean.”
---
That night, in Yue Feng’s top-floor office at Tianhai City’s Crimson Vault Martial Arts Pavilion, a holographic screen flickered with Ke Lan’s sympathetic gaze.
“You mean… Lin Qi’s promotion failed?” Yue Feng barked, rising abruptly from his tea table.
Ke Lan nodded. “Once signed, it’s irreversible.”
Yue Feng paced. “I had a bad feeling about this.” After listening to Ke Lan recount the meeting, he slammed the table. “Old Zhang pulled strings behind the scenes!”
“Zhang Tai covered his tracks flawlessly,” Ke Lan replied. “Li Zehao’s current strength is formidable, but Lin Qi’s potential seems greater. It’s always been a stalemate—pragmatism versus vision.”
“Bull!” Yue Feng snorted. “Lin Qi beat Feng Qingyue, didn’t he? He’s only slightly behind Li Zehao now.”
As the call ended, Yue Feng scowled. Deputy Pavilion Master Lu fumed, “We can’t let them walk all over us!”
“Quiet! I’m thinking!” Yue Feng waved him off. “Alpha, connect the Pavilion Master.”
A crimson metal orb hummed, projecting a screen. Moments later, Wu Lingyun’s face appeared.
“Master Wu, urgent news,” Yue Feng began, summarizing the incident.
Wu’s expression darkened. “Understood. I’ll handle this.” The screen cut out.
---
At Wu Lingyun’s war base, his silver orb assistant, Epsilon, linked him to Meng Wu. The green hologram revealed Meng, a broad-shouldered man in black.
“You’re interrupting my dinner,” Meng grumbled.
“Your Capital faction stole Lin Qi’s S-Rank spot!” Wu spat.
Meng frowned. “Details.”
After hearing the case, Meng shrugged. “Li Zehao barely edged Lin Qi. No foul play.”
“I’m sure,” Wu scoffed. “You’re favoring your own—Li Zehao’s from the Capital, Lin Qi’s ours.”
“Crimson Vault upholds fairness,” Meng countered. “What’s your move?”
“A revote in a month. If Li wins again, I’ll concede.”
Meng hesitated, then nodded. “One month.”
---
In the Capital, Li Zehao’s face paled as his phone buzzed. Zhang Tai’s hologram said, “Stay calm. I’ve secured votes.”
Li Zehao smirked. “Lin Qi? Ranked 108th? I’m 25th nationwide. Advantage is mine.”
---
Two days later, at Tianhai No.2 High School’s martial arts classroom, students whispered as Zhang Cheng strode in.
“In April, Cang Province’s Survival Training Camp begins,” he announced. “You’ll face real Disaster Beasts. Optional attendance.”
Murmurs rippled. Only Lin Qi, Jiang Tao, and Li Zhou remained calm—they’d fought beasts before.
Lin Qi’s phone vibrated. Frowning, he checked the message.
---
At noon, Yue Feng hosted lunch at the Pavilion.
“Eat up,” Yue offered. Lin Qi dug in, undisturbed.
“Your S-Rank spot’s gone,” Yue said bluntly.
Lin Qi paused. “Who replaced me?”
Yue recounted the saga—Zhang Tai’s interference, Wu Lingyun’s intervention, the revote on April 25th.
“Survival Training Camp?” Lin Qi guessed.
“Sharp,” Yue grinned. “Outshine Chen Li—Abyssal Maw’s confirmed S-Rank Genius. Ranked above Li Zehao.”
Lin Qi’s eyes glinted. “I’ll surpass him.”
Yue Feng laughed. “That’s the spirit! Show Zhang Tai who’s boss.”
