Chapter 1355: Nika Nika Ni
Chapter 1355: Nika Nika Ni
After Kuro’s roar, his mind suddenly felt much lighter. He glanced at the stunned Navy soldiers surrounding him and couldn’t help smirking inwardly.
Finally over.
Luffy being the "source of evil" was debatable, but the chaos he’d caused across the Grand Line was undeniable. Now that he was gone, along with his followers and allies, the tide had turned. With the key troublemakers eliminated, peace across the Grand Line was finally within reach.
With such overwhelming might, and having just defeated two major threats—Marshall D. Teach and Luffy—live on global broadcast, Kuro had secured his path to a peaceful retirement.
No more damn worrying about stability. Even if his base was in the New World, deep within its heart, the threat was gone. Pirates had already lost. The chaos would likely settle to levels comparable to the Four Seas.
In that case, Kuro could spend his days idly wandering the Grand Line, occasionally hunting pirates for fun or cruising to places like Dressrosa to check out his investment in the one-stop entertainment industry there. The Four Seas, Grand Line, New World—scenery, cuisine, luxury ships, and beautiful companions awaited.
Lida watched Kuro’s distant gaze, sensing an inexplicable danger, his eyes narrowing.
“Kuro?”
“Hmph!”
Kuro coughed, refocusing on his daydream. With his might, no one dared challenge him. He’d cruise with his subordinates, indulging in leisure, touring the world in comfort.
A lifetime of easygoing luxury!
Anyway, it’s over!!
“Boroboroboro!”
Just as he imagined this blissful future, the Transponder Snail on his wrist suddenly rang.
A Transponder Snail?
Frowning, Kuro raised his wrist and muttered, “What trouble now? Did Sengoku fail to take Impel Down? Don’t joke around.”
Sengoku, Garp, Gramps, and Sakazuki had all gone there. How could they fail against Impel Down’s current, weakened state with fewer elite criminals?
“Hello?”
Kuro activated the Transponder Snail, asking, “This is Kuro. The Second Top War just ended, and the Navy’s total war against pirates has concluded in our victory. What’s the issue?”
“Kuro.”
The voice from the Transponder Snail was hoarse, low, and laced with panic, though barely restrained.
It was the Five Elders.
“Y-You…”
The speaker hesitated, as if dreading some terrible truth.
“Did you kill Luffy?” Finally, the tone shifted—this time from the bald, glasses-wearing, blade-wielding Elderly Man.
“Huh?”
Kuro blinked, puzzled. “You should’ve been watching. Luffy’s definitely dead.”
He glanced back at the execution platform, adding, “Head separated from body. No aura left.”
“Dead… Then we’ll have to find it again. This time, we absolutely cannot fail. Kuro, be careful about Luffy’s Devil Fruit. If you encounter it, bring it to us safely!”
“Luffy’s Devil Fruit?”
Kuro paused. “The Rubber Devil Fruit? A Paramecia? What’s the big deal about that?”
Wrong.
Rubber didn’t have liquefaction tendencies. That strange elasticity wasn’t typical rubber.
“You’re Fleet Admiral now, our most trusted Fleet Admiral.”
The Transponder Snail crackled with rustling sounds, as if the speaker hesitated—unsure whether to believe their own words or Kuro’s.
“It’s not the Rubber Devil Fruit. That Devil Fruit is extremely important. The World Government has sought it for 800 years since its founding, yet it’s always slipped through our grasp. It’s called the Nika Devil Fruit, the Hito Hito Devil Fruit - Mythical Beast.”
The words froze Kuro in place. He stood silent, stunned.
“As expected… Even you, against this Devil Fruit…”
“Huh?”
The unfinished sentence was cut off by Kuro’s incredulous tone.
“Wait, my point is…” Kuro furrowed his brow, leaning back in a tactical retreat, his expression mirroring an old man squinting at a phone on the subway.
“Nika? What’s that? Lovelive? It doesn’t even have twin tails!”
“And what’s this Hito Hito Devil Fruit? Isn’t that a Paramecia? How did it become a Zoan?”
He genuinely didn’t get it.
Do Devil Fruits have status tiers now?
The Great Buddha, Sun God, Asura…
If the Hito Hito Devil Fruit was so powerful, was that reindeer Zoan user just an ordinary human? Could Devil Fruits even have “commoner” forms?
So that reindeer was in a “civilian” form? No wonder his bounty was so low.
Or was Superman human too?
Would that make him Hito Hito Devil Fruit - Mythical Beast Form? Donquixote Doflamingo the String Human Form? Lida the Haki-Type Devil Fruit User Form? Klah—oh, he’s just Zoan.
“Whatever, doesn’t matter. He’s dead.”
Kuro shrugged. The man was gone—what did he care about the Devil Fruit? Whether it was Nika Nika Ni or a Lovelive fan club, he’d kill any pirate who came for it.
Was the Five Elders specially contacting him just to discuss this trivial matter?
But their next words caught his attention.
“Just remember this, Kuro. We trust you. So… come to Mariejois. Explain why Navy forces are here.”
“What? Navy?” Kuro blinked, confused. “Isn’t it normal for Navy to be in Mariejois? Why bring this up?”
“It’s not just a few. There are massive Navy forces and armies from various nations ascending from the Red Port. Explain this, Kuro.”
“Huh?”
Kuro’s brow furrowed. Navy forces? Foreign armies?
Wasn’t the World Summit over?
And why were they asking him?
“Who’s leading them?” Kuro asked.
“If we knew, we wouldn’t ask you,” the Transponder Snail replied.
“Maybe stubborn pirate remnants disguised themselves. It’s probably Marshall D. Teach’s doing. Can’t you handle a bunch of small-time pirates? The big threat here was already eliminated by me.”
The Transponder Snail hesitated before replying, “Some have stormed Mariejois’ stepped platform, seizing the elevators. Our forces can’t handle them.”
Kuro paused, then nodded slowly. “I understand. I’ll come immediately.”
He cut the call, baring his teeth in a growl. “How amusing. Someone still dares to stir trouble now… Klah!”
“Yes, Kuro-sama!”
Klah’s body flickered, transforming from his monstrous form to a normal human as he appeared beside Kuro. His face twitched with barely concealed excitement, unnoticed in Kuro’s shadow.
“Alert the entire army! Redirect all forces to the Red Port—proceed to Mariejois!”
Gripping Autumn Water, Kuro glared at the sky over Mariejois.
“If the old man won’t kill you all until you’re broken, this won’t end!”
